Over the months that I’ve been in San Francisco I had the pleasure of watching as the EP ‘Trap Hippy‘ developed via San Francisco based producer Gorilla Beats. Taking weeks of maticulously working away in the studio / behind a board, brainstorming music concepts, perfecting a mix but still finding time to kick back and enjoy it all in the process, Gorilla beats has the perfect release of 5 smooth instrumentals taking on a new kind of sound – trap hippy. With the distinct undertones of Drum & Bass trap mixed with the ambient electro sounds that have been on the rise in underground music, the final bounce is somewhere between trap and relaxed (trap hippy). I got my in on a little of the fun collabing with Gorilla Beats on one of his songs ‘Wrap’, featured on the EP . During the sesh, I felt where the music was coming from; the whole time we were just chilling and talking music, enjoying company and getting our night started with some drinks to go around – everyone had good vibes, which is what the ep ‘Trap Hippy’ should bring to you. The original has a deep house, funk sound to it, and the remix is exactly what needed to be done to get this record out there. Well folks, it’s been real. Tomorrow, Sept 22, marks the official end of summer 2013. In honor of the change in season, I present to you the second installment of my very own Warm Air mixtapes. A mix designed to ease the transition of swimsuits to sweaters and piña coladas to pumpkin spice and peppermint mocha lattes. A mix to warm you up in the cool autumn breeze, to relive the sweet memories of the past few months, and keep your spirits up and motivated as you face challenges in school, work, and everyday life. So close your eyes, and let this mix take you back to that moment on the beach where you dug a hole in the sand with your toes as you watched the sun set, or when you indulged in the most amazing 4th of July BBQ of your life, or drove around recklessly with the top down and the radio up, or the night you watched an epic fireworks spectacle with your boo thang wrapped up tight in your arms.
Remember, just because the summer is over doesn’t mean the fun is. Oh no, 2013 can and will go out with a bang. With 3 months left to go, it’s time the real fun begins.

“My Friends Never Die” by ODESZA is an absolutely blissful album. All the tracks are great, but personally I think the title track is the highlight. Overall the album is smooth, classy, and chill – while still being fun. It’s electronic music done right. I enjoyed it from start to finish, and fortunately for us it’s free!
