Hip-Hop, Mixtapes | Elite – Awaken [Mixtape]
Posted by Grubeats on November 18, 2011
A couple months back when I introduced Elite to the FNT family, I explained his journey as producer and rapper along with his relationship with other artists such as J. Cole and Voli. Since then, Elite has released a few more singles in preparation for his first project as a solo hip-hop artist, Awaken, which he dropped just a week ago. It’s not fair to say his progression is overly evident because quite honestly the first time I heard him I was blown away. Everything from his voice, to the lyrics, to the hooks, to the production, to the delivery has always been on point. Awaken is a mixtape you ABSOLUTELY DON’T WANT TO SLEEP ON. Although it’s rooted with hip-hop, it almost has an alternative sound to it, similar to something OnCue may put together. Speaking of which, I’d love to hear a collab from these two.
I’ve highlighted a few cuts below if you’re looking for appetizers, but I highly suggest just skipping to the main entré and downloading the tape in full. #DreamVille

Hip-Hop | T-Pain ft. Lil Wayne – Bang Bang Pow Pow
Posted by Grubeats on November 18, 2011
So we’ve had a few T-Pain tracks released over the past several months that had us wondering whether or not the king of autotune still had gas left in his tank. Over and over I’ve been telling myself he does even though I haven’t been overly impressed with his music of late. Fortunately, I think he has finally released something that doesn’t leave me lying to myself. Pain makes the right decision and links with Weezy, who he always seems to have success with, for the newest single off rEVOLVEr (?). From what I hear, we can expect this extremely overdue album on December 6th. Track listing after the break.

Hip-Hop, Mashups | The White Panda – G.O.O.D.G.I.R.L.S.

The White Panda unleashes this heavenly mash of Wale and Dillion Francis. Some artists acapella’s sound good over anything. Wale is one of those artists. I’m not sure what it is, but when you put Wale’s vocals over fast, funky, dance beats, the result is always audio gold. Check the throwback below of Wale’s remix of D.A.N.C.E. if you don’t believe me.

Hip-Hop | e-dubble – Fight For Days
Posted by Grubeats on November 1, 2011
The king of samples returns once again with a fresh track which samples “Don’t Move” by Phantogram. It’s been a minute since I checked out e-dubble’s Facebook Page, but he’s nearly doubled his fan base since the last time I saw. I suppose that will happen when you continuously release music with purpose and truth. e-dubble differs from you’ve average up and coming artist, shading himself from the camera’s and focusing on delivering meaningful lyrics most people can relate to.

Hip-Hop | Wale ft. Big Sean – Slight Work (Prod. by Diplo)
Posted by Grubeats on October 25, 2011
With his sophomore album, Ambition, only one week away, Wale drops the last single which is produced by Diplo and features Sean Don. Definitely a unique beat from Diplo, but what else would you expect? I guess when you’re as filthy as these two young guns, the currency comes even when you only slightly work. Sound the sirens, this album is going to do some damage. 11.1.11. M-M-M-M-M-M-M-M-aybach Music!
