Preview, Progressive House, Videos | Michael Brun & Special Features – Synergy (Preview)

Posted by on April 11, 2012

A cool video about Pierce Fulton’s time during Electric Beach and look out for one of those tracks in the video soon…
FNT favorites, Michael Brun & Special Features have released the preview for their upcoming collaboration “Synergy” out on April 18th on Dirty South’s Phazing Records. Dirty South seems to be taking an interest in Michael Brun after his “edit” of “Rise” and now signing “Synergy” to his label. It would be interesting to see what the future has in store for the two of them. The song starts with a melodic build with intricate key work that crescendoes into a hard, pulsing progressive synth drop that will make you want to fast forward to April 18th right away.

Also included is a remix of Michael Brun’s first big single “Dawn”, which came out of Hardwell’s Revealed Records and was championed by the man himself. Cat Skillz puts more emphasis on a piano melody and gives the track a more relaxed vibe, while keeping the more uptempo bass line.

Hip-Hop, Mixtapes | QuEST – Nowhere To Go ft. Logic

Posted by on April 10, 2012

Apart from the recent baby boom of Gen-Snapbacks, there are artists who continue to draw from the roots of hip hop.  Lyrics are the focal point.  QuEST, a native to Miami has not fallen into the trap of imitating local mainstream guru’s like Rick Ross, nor the Mac Miller army of high school “rappers”, but rather snapped back to the early 90’s where he has taken a page from his idols books.  With a feature from arguably one of the realist lyricists coming up, Logic, this is one of the standout tracks off Quest’s recent mixtape, Fear Not Failure.  I haven’t had a chance to listen to the project in full yet, but judging by this track and the few we’ve heard in the past, QuEST is holstering some real potential.

The ridiculousy catchy and refreshing duo of Aer give us some brand new visuals to start off the day. From their new EP, they provide us with some whimsical visuals to the catchy song. Expect more visuals from the duo but also expect an album sometime in the future. If you missed FNT’s interview with Aer, you can check that out here.

Dubstep | Damien Marley – Welcome To Jamrock (AutoLaser Bootleg Remix)

Posted by on March 31, 2012

AutoLaser making their first appearance on FNT and providing us with a killer remix to the one and only, Welcome to Jamrock by Damien Marley. I can honestly say for some reason I still haven’t got sick of this song. Staying true to their laser sounds and synths, but also making sure Damien’s vocals are still directing the track. Up through the first two minutes of the track you expect nothing to come from this remix, but I promise you the wait is worth it. Providing us with some sick laser synths and high pitch sounds during the drop, it is like nothing I have heard.

Hip-Hop, Rap | 360 – “Everywhere and Back” + “Woulda Kid”

Posted by on March 27, 2012

360 has been letting loose track after track in preparation for his debut album coming next Tuesday, April 3rd.  The NYC hot spitter released the title track, “Everywhere and Back” a couple days ago and  have to say it’s one my favorite tracks to date.  “What Goes Up”, which was produced by J. Cole was fire as well as his remix to “Mr. Blue Sky”, but more importantly he is bringing it on every track.  The second track, “Would Kid” features scratches from DJ Wonder and was produced by The Dark Nyte.  #EveryWhereAndBack April 3!

Hip-Hop, Videos | Moufy – Star Gang Anthem Pt. 2

“In advance of the release of his highly anticipated EP Humble Season later this spring, Moufy announces a four-week countdown to the release of a preparatory mixtape, appropriately titled The Preparation. The first track off the mixtape, “Star Gang Anthem Part 2,” is the rapper’s rendition of Red Café’s “Let it Go,” and was just released. The Boston native will drop another new track each Sunday for the next three weeks, leading up to the release of The Preparation on April 21st.”

While Moufy has dropped the first single off his EP, entitled “Glass Break” featuring Masspike Miles, he’s been working hard to give us some free music before Humble Season drops on iTunes.  For all the affiliates out there who have been riding with SG for a minute now, how are you feeling this track?  Better or worse than “Star Gang Anthem pt. 1”?

Hip-Hop, Videos | Mac Miller – Loud [Music Video]

Since Mac dropped his funky new mixtape, Macadelic, on Friday, he has done over 200k DL’s on Datpiff, 40,000 on HNHH, and several thousands more on other sites, there’s no question Mac’s mixtape game is among the game’s best.  Macadelic is arguably better than his debut album, Blue Slide Park, which by some was considered a downgrade from his previous mixtapes, “Best Day Ever”,  “K.I.D.S.”, & even “The High Life”.  Personally I think Mac’s content has gone more mainstream which in some ways is understandable seeing as his life has taken a major turn since his high school days.  Despite the impressive features Mac added to his roster for Macadelic, I’d still take K.I.D.S. over this any day of the week.  That’s not to say this wont grow on me over the next couple weeks (as Mac’s music typically does for me), but I’d still spin the money clip Mac over the million dollar Mac any day.

As for this video; macnificent.  The colors and lighting alone make a great fit for the project and track.  This is definitely the biggest banger on the tape and one that has definitely continued to grow on me.
