Pop, Progressive House | Maroon 5 – Love Somebody (It’s The Kue Remix!)
Posted by Mel on June 29, 2013
My favorite song of all time is “Payphone” by Maroon 5. It is for that reason that I will always have a soft spot in my heart for them no matter what. I was already a fan of their original “Love Somebody” but DJ Kue made it that much better by adding a touch more energy to it and a great drop. I have had this on repeat since I first heard it.
Progressive House | Atlas Genius – Symptoms (Pierce Fulton Remix)
Posted by Mach on June 26, 2013
I haven’t heard too many people remix Atlas Genius, so this remix got me excited to see how the vocals were used. This is now my new favorite song from Pierce Fulton. I love how the buildup progresses, the instrumentals paired with vocals instantaneously make you feel good. Once you hit the drop all those good feelings come together into one blissful, energy filled state.
House | Bewilderbeast – Severed

Stumbling upon great tracks is one of my favorite things to have happen when I’m on the hunt for new music. Up an coming producer, Bewilderbeast, really came through with something incredible in terms of this original. The progression is soothing and smooth to the senses, taking you through the many layers of a blissful state. The build up at the second half of the track is fantastic, dropping into a great piano melody backed by Bewilderbeast’s cool vocal sampling. This is the first single off of Bewilderbeast’s upcoming LP, “Unreal_Estate”, releasing on August 1st.

House | Avicii ft Aloe Blacc – Wake Me Up
Posted by Middy on June 25, 2013
Rejoice, Avicii is making it cool for you to wear cowboy boots and your neon YOLO hat in the same outfit to your favorite mediocre local festival! First premiered on the Mainstage during his unpredictable set at Ultra Music Festival, Avicii‘s lead single “Wake Me Up” from his upcoming album “TRUE“, has finally hit stores worldwide. It has been released in Europe for a week now, but as of today it is available worldwide on Spotify and iTunes. It is exciting to this change in direction from Avicii and the possibilities of what he can bring in the future since he has inspired so many copycats in the past few years. Whether or not his fans will be supportive of his new sound 100% remains to be seen, but you can expect September 17th to be a landmark day for one of the titans in dance music.
Hip-Hop | J.Cole – Let Nas Down (Remix ft. Nas)

“It’s just part of the game, becoming a rap king, my N*%*a you aint let Nas down”
Just like Kanye did in “Big Brother” with No I.D. being his mentor, young Jermaine decided to serenade his own mentor is Nas. Being a good mentor and all, Nas decided to hop on the track and spit a couple verses to his prodigy. The beat is perfect for the track, bringing a very 90s sound that made it seem like one Nas would have used. Born Sinner is hands down my favorite project that came out the 18th so if you have yet to grab it, I highly suggest doing so! Cole World.
Drum & Bass, Preview | Haywyre – Fluctuate
Posted by Mach on June 22, 2013
Haywyre is still moving along with his Song Per Week Project, and puts out the his Drum & Bass preview. As a first Drum & Bass track or a 100th, this is killer tune. Haywyre gave this track a Neuro flair to it, maintaining that funk that he likes to incorporate in all his music. Of the Song Per Week releases so far, this one is undoubtedly my favorite. Stay tuned for Haywyre’s release for next week.
Indie, Interviews, Progressive House | ASTR – Operate (The Chainsmokers Remix) + Exclusive Interview
Posted by Mel on June 20, 2013
It has been roughly four months since my hand slightly grazed my sister’s friend’s thigh. Coincidentally, it has also been about four months since I first heard of The Chainsmokers. Since then, my hand has been many places but none as sweet as that. I have also watched The Chainsmokers grow from two decent looking guys to two excellent looking guys who make awesome music. Their first remix that got my attention was of Jonsi’s “Around Us”. That track… it made me feel for the first time. Sara B, the girl who had a crush on me in eleventh grade, I get you now. The Chainsmokers taught me how to love. Since then I’ve learned to take it, roll it up into a ball, toss it in the air and if there’s not a steady current of wind, I smash that into oblivion.
Picture yourself walking through the city late one night when you see a beautiful girl sitting in a coffee shop eating a plum. She is facing outward toward the street and the store’s walls are glass so you two can see each other. You want to go talk to her but you can’t find the door to get in. Not being able to figure out where the entrance is, you go up to the glass and relentlessly stare at her. Upon closer inspection you realize that she is in fact eating an oddly shaped apple not a plum. “Why are you eating an apple?” you mouth to her. You can hear her say through the glass while turning the apple “no no, this is a plum”. After seeing the flesh of the fruit it is indeed a plum. You then turn around to go home and find $20 on the ground.
The combination of slight disappointment, confusion, and joy that night brings is what I think of their latest remix.
We also had a chance to talk to them about life’s most important questions, such as “If you were to suddenly wake up in the middle of the night for seemingly no reason and upon looking to the nearest wall saw a hole that has never been there before the size of the middle, cardboard part of a roll of toilet paper, would you stick stuff in it?”. Click past the break if you want to laugh, cry, and be inspired.
