Skrubz has turned out to be a very well rounded producer. Starting off his little career with some dubstep and drum and bass, he has branched out over the summer, releasing house, electro, and now dutch tracks. “Call On Me” is one of the most legendary tracks in electronic music, but no one has seemed to think, ‘Oh hey! I should make a remix of this.’ Skrubz would not have been my first choice to do so, but after listening to this remix, he did an amazing job.

MartyParty, born and raised in South Africa, has been coined the Iggy Pop of electronic music. Marty picked up Ableton Live in 2005 and began to learn the art of music production. His sound is a hybrid of electronic music, dubstep and hip hop that together forms a totally new flavor of urban beat with the pretty hypnotic elements of electronic music and hard-hitting bass. This stuff is perfect for those listeners who need to be eased into “harder” genres such as dubstep. Big ups to Katie for sending us this gem.

Mashups, Moombahton | Doug Bogan – Moombology

Moombahton has been taking the electronic music scene by storm as of late and I have yet to see someone incorporate Moombahton into a mashup. That is until Doug Bogan created Moombology. In constructing Moombology, Doug Bogan grabs some of the hottest Moombah tracks and layers in some familiar vocals from artists such as Ludacris, Skee-Lo and Gnarls Barkley along with some pieces of 2007’s guilty pleasure jam, Lip Gloss.

Electro | Cobra Starship – You Make Me Feel… (Kastra Remix)

Drawing from years of musical experimenting with many genres and instruments, Kastra combines several elements of electronic music to craft a unique melodic sound. This latest remix to Kobra Starship’s You Make Me Feel… overlays some serious electo elements, namely a super smooth sweeping Aoki-esc synth. This is definitely a cool take on the original.

Now this is the Deadmau5 I love to listen to. Straight up electro/house at it’s finest. Joel is the man, he could trademark electronic music because I wouldn’t know how to feel about the genre if he wasn’t a part of it. This new heater is a MUST DOWNLOAD, I have listened to it almost 10 times so far today.

The Day has finally arrived, Divergent Spectrum is here. Bassnectar really out did himself with this. Every track gives you a different taste of the music spectrum, but with some bass mixed in of course. I made sure to have listened to the entire LP before this post and the one word I’d use to sum this up is ‘art.’ By that I mean this album really is a work of art, just by the fact that Bassnectar managed to incorporate many different styles of music flawlessly. My top choices would be Plugged In Remix, Lights Remix (naturally), The Matrix, Voodoo, and Paging Stereophonic. Despite my choices it is really hard to not include the rest of the album on that list. If you like electronic music, you will love this.

The Bassnectar family also gave us the fans a gift, a free download of “Above & Beyond.” Previously known as Shakes and releasing under SPL’s Hollow Point Label, Seth Drake is the latest addition to the Amorphous Music Team. The track is epic and definitely one of the better tracks on the album.
