Trance | Audien – Iris

Posted by on July 3, 2013

audien irisIt has been a big week for Audien. First he released his followup to “Wayfarer”, that saw support from artists all across the dance music spectrum like Above & Beyond, Cosmic Gate, Armin van Buuren, Knife Party & Madeon, and now today added to the already star-studded Electric Zoo lineup. “Iris” carries that Audien sound with sweeping synth chords, atmospheric pads, delicate key play and a subtle, grinding low-end. Expect to hear this often on trance stages and throughout festivals during the summer as it creeps into artists sets and up the charts.

Events | Electric Zoo Phase 2 Lineup Headliners

Posted by on May 7, 2013

Electric Zoo 2012

We are starting to get a full picture of how Electric Zoo will look this year after the announcement that it would have two mainstages. Electric Zoo is slowly releasing the names for those who will be coming to Randall’s Island on Labor Day weekend, following the first wave of artists who will take over the mainstages. Phase 2 fills in some of the gaps for the rest of the tents that give the festival its character and diversity, from the Sunday School tent to the Riverside Arena. As suspected, the festival has expanded from 4 stages to 5, so there will be more artists, more choice and inevitably more painstaking, heart-wrenching conflicts over artist time slots (Laidback Luke vs. Steve Aoki is not one… I hope I don’t have to tell you why).

Repeat from last year the Riverside Arena will see Dim Mak take over on Sunday, while Friday will see the joint takeover of Riverside by OWSLA and Boyz Noise Records and A-Trak’s Fools Gold Records on Saturday. The Sunday School Grooooove tent will have new proprietors with Adam Beyers’s Drum Code coming to town on Sunday to bring some techno in your face. There does not appear to be a trance stage, which is a bit disappointing, though Armin, Ferry Corsten, Above & Beyond and Markus Schulz are all on the lineup separately. Nobody as of yet has made their claim to any of the Hilltop days, but the lineup’s seem eclectic enough that they would lack a clear label owner. There are more artists to be announced, so do despair if you feel it is lacking in trance or house or dubstep, just wait, especially for the label tents. There is also the option to buy a Friday combo pack, where you buy a ticket for Friday + either Saturday or Sunday, so decide your festival experience. Tickets are on sale now, so grab them below. Check the full lineup after the jump.

Events | Electric Adventure expands to two days, August 3rd & 4th

Posted by on April 24, 2013

Electric AdventureAfter a resounding success last year, one of the more unique festivals on the Eastern seaboard, Electric Adventure, returns for its second edition at Six Flags in Jackson, New Jersey, this time expanding to two days to give revelers more time for the edm / roller coaster action they crave. The match made in heaven of roller coasters and a great lineup, then toss in the obvious mix of drugs and alcohol and you have yourself one of the sleeper US festivals this summer. Since it is two days, I would recommend getting a fast pass to cut the lines because time is money my friends and you don’t want to be that guy standing in line for Superman or Bizarro, while your favorite DJ is shredding and then hearing about it up until Electric Zoo. Get your tickets now before they sell out and the lineup will be announced soon.

Events | Electric Zoo MainStage Lineup Announcement

In its 5th Year, Made Event‘s Electric Zoo recently announced its plan to create two main stages to try and augment the festival-goers experience and cements its place among the premier festivals nationwide. We are in the midst of a production and creativity arms race by various promotion companies like Ultra and Insomniac that are pushing the boundaries of what is possible every year. This latest attempt to do so by Made Event as it tries to compete with Ultra and EDC and their festival experiences is a great step in the right direction. Logistically, it will be interesting to see how they pull it off with the limited space on Randall’s Island. Today they announced the acts gracing the “East” and “West” main stages and they are working to give you your 330 dollars worth with names like Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond, Avicii, W&W, Tiesto, Madeon, Bassnectar, Hardwell, Diplo, Sebastian Ingrosso, and many more all heading to New York City for this Labor Day Weekend extravaganza. We are looking forward to seeing what comes from the rest of the stages. You have to give credit to E Zoo for announcing artist info so early, something very rare nowadays. Tickets are on sale now, so get them here.

Cover, Electro | Hardwell & Collin McLoughlin – Call Me a Spaceman (Unplugged Version)

Posted by on October 25, 2012

A month ago, Hardwell asked his fans to submit an acoustic version of his hit single, Spaceman, for the chance to have it featured in his Electric Zoo aftermovie. Today, Hardwell, who was recently named the #6 DJ in the world by DJ Mag Top 100, announced that the winner of his Spaceman competition is our very own Collin McLoughlin. In addition to being featured on his EZoo recap video, Hardwell released the song yesterday on iTunes as the official unplugged version of Spaceman.

Electro-House | Chuckie & Junxterjack – Make Some Noise

Posted by on October 22, 2012

One of the few moments I remember from Laidback Luke’s set from Electric Zoo (its not you Luke, its me), was hearing this track drop and wondering what was this outrageous track I was hearing. Chuckie has had a banner year with tracks like the ubiquitous “Who Is Ready To Jump”, “1234” with Laidback Luke & Martin Solveig “Together” & more. Chuckie tabs Junxterjack on this track that combines the best of what has made Chuckie so successful with the growling electro undertones, while remaining true to dirty dutch with the pounding, pitched drop.
