Electro-House | Afrojack – Air Guitar
Posted by Middy on March 12, 2013
After his rather poor attempt at remixing “Gangnam Style”, Afrojack makes up for it with a single “Air Guitar”, designated to be an anthem for this years Ultra Music Festival. Afrojack delivers on this intense track with powerful bursts of electro growls, distorted vocal samples and blistering bleeps with a small interlude to let you catch your breath before getting right back into it. On the heals of Tiesto, Quintino and Alvaro’s somewhat lackluster effort last week and Avicii’s contribution “UMF”, known to many as “ID2” or “Fire” or “Put Your Piano On”, coming next week, Ultra is pulling out all the stops, not only in terms of bookings, production, but also new songs for the two weekend, 15th edition of the world famous festival. With Afrojack’s debut album coming later this year, expect much more to come in 2013 from the towering Dutchman.
Trance | Armin van Buuren & Markus Schulz – The Expedition (A State of Trance 600 Anthem)
Posted by Spice on January 28, 2013
We’re about two weeks out from the launch of Armin van Buuren’s A State of Trance 600 world tour, so it’s only appropriate that the official theme song — which premiered a few weeks ago on ASOT — got a Beatport release earlier today. ASOT theme songs are always a bit of a marketing ploy — by design, they’re meant to drum up excitement for the tour — but they’re also frequently great in their own right. Armin and Markus’s “The Expedition” (which in some ways recalls the ASOT 550 theme, W&W’s “Invasion”) is no exception. A dark and dramatic vibe, punchy synth riffs, and a slightly higher bpm (133) ensure that this is something we’ll be hearing plenty of in the coming weeks. For more details on A State of Trance 600 and to see if Armin and the gang will be coming to a city near you, head to the official website.
In other trance news, look for Armin’s upcoming A State of Trance 2013 compilation to drop on Valentine’s Day. (Note: apparently it will feature a new Gaia track. Goodie!) This compilation is the 10 year anniversary edition and will likely (hopefully) be filled with a lot of great material. He’s also in the process of wrapping his next artist album, so, as always, many things to look forward to in the coming weeks and months.

If you haven’t already heard this remix from Noisia, then you haven’t heard one of the greatest remixes to a classic track from The Prodigy that could arguably be one of the top remixes of the year. We already know Noisia is one of the best, if not the best at their sound engineering and track ingenuity; if you don’t believe me just press play on the video. That drop almost knocked me out the first time I heard on my speakers.
For our first free download it looks like Rekoil just made it right on time with this 5k freebie. If you haven’t heard the original and VIP mixes to this track than you are missing out big time, but Rekoil gives this one his own little drumstep addition alongside some bouncy synths and lasers.
Seems like Getter was in a generous mood while he is tagging along with the Firepower crew playing out the rest of the Firepower Tour. This track has been up for preview for about 4 months now and it was about time we got our hands on it. It’s nothing out of the ordinary from him, with those monstrous growls and thunderous basslines.
Crizzly is the don of Crunkstep and he is back at it again with his Texas rap influenced track titled The Way We Ball. Taking the samples from Lil flip and adding on his laser synths and distorted melodies to give this rap track a nice electronic taste. Don’t sleep on this free download, which you can download from HERE.
For our last track we switch the vibe over to something a little darker courtesy of Mach. There is nothing wrong with that either because although this track isn’t as fast paced as the others, it still supplies you with the right amount of bass and heavy synths to cap off this edition of R Rated.

Boom! Counterstrike just dropped this insane preview of one of their upcoming tracks off their “Fire” EP, dropping November 5th. The EP has quite a few awesome collaborations including one with the Black Sun Empire. This preview, though short, is epic, can’t wait for the EPs release.
KDrew does it again. The intro is awesome and just made me highly anticipatory for the drop. Completely exceeded my expectations.
RoughMath (previously Noir) is one of my favorite up and coming Dubstep producers. His tracks are always a perfect blend of melodic and filth, a difficult combination these days. Probably because he’s not trying to be like Skrillex like every other Dubstep artist, finding his own place within the genre.
I promised myself that I wouldn’t post anymore of these “Make It Bun Dem” remixes, this has to be one of the coolest I have heard. Cottonmouth has created some of the dopest remixes, mainly taking originals no one has ever heard. He used one of the coolest bass synths for this drop, it completely makes me careless of the fact its another remix of the original.

Kicking off this weeks (late edition) of R Rated is Dodge & Fuski on the verge of their new EP release. Progressing their style of Dubstep a little more, their track Got 2 Come Together shows the fun side of their Never Say Die infused style. Comprised of the fun little electronic sounding melodies as well as the heavy aspects this track is an all around representation of what this duo can compose.
Taiki and Nulight are another duo that have been gaining support from the bigger names lately. They are signed under the dubstep don’s , Benga, label which somewhat shows in their track. This one shows a simpler side to the genre with a dark twist to it, sort of what we used to hear a lot of from Benga a few years back.
DarkElixir is known for his dark heavy tunes, and this one is no different. Providing us with a remix to Sulfiltronik’s Bruk! , this track has its dark twists and hollow synths that he has mastered.
Another growing favorite of mine, Tom Budin, has put out this awesome original mix. Using his heavy synths in the drop he creates a trancey style of dub with his chords alongside some pretty catchy vocals.
EDIT: Figure pulled through last minute this reckless, heavy VIP of Super Sonic Brave Waves and we couldn’t wait to post it. So here you guys go and proceed with caution.

Another week, means another Wednesday, which means another R-Rated. We are on edition #45 and we aren’t planning on slowing down anytime soon.
To kick things off we have an EP preview of an upcoming artist and FNT favorite, KillaGraham. It was about time a record label cleaned out their ears and signed this amazing artist after all his hardwork so far. Looks like Never Say Die just strengthened their artist base even more with this awesome edition. So much originality is pouring out from this artist it makes listening to his music refreshing and you can hear it all in this EP, because none of it sounds like anything you would hear from any other artist.
Tom Budin is another artist I have been keeping an eye on for quite sometime now, and this remix is ridiculous once again. After his terrorizing remix of Pendulum’s Tarantula I didn’t see him beating that remix personally, but I was wrong once again. He tends to stray away from the Reggae vibes a little on this remix and dives straight in for that nasty, grimy sound. So the first 100 people get a free download which means you need to get there before it is too late and be ready to vote for this amazing artist when the Beatport Remix competition voting opens up on Sept.19th.
Just featured on R-Rated two weeks ago, Truth is back on the R-Rated hit list once again. This duo has been bringing some funky vibes lately and it has been catching my attention every time I surf around Soundcloud. This track is also part of their first installment of free releases for their “Love Shadow’s” Album which has been split into EP’s and is all being released for FREE! This track has some awesome Deep style vibes with some hollow sounding synths giving off that underground dubstep sound that we used to hear so much of a few years ago. To listen to the rest of the first free EP click HERE.
This collaboration from RealTalK and Symbiotic is another heavy addition to this weeks R-Rated. Both of these bass bumping artists teamed up to create this fast paced drumstep track to lay their fans out during their shows. Bringing the heavy bass; this tracks gets grimy and fast so prepare yourselves mentally before you press play.
Why Ellie Goulding’s voice complements dubstep so well I have no idea, but given that this official remix from Draper is one of a kind. Given that Sound Remedy’s remix is hard to compete with because its melodic and a banger at the same time, this one is a close second. I know this track technically shouldn’t be in R-Rated because it is more liquid that heavy, but I just couldn’t help myself. This track is a way to settle you guys down after pumping you guys with adrenaline through all the heavy hitters before it, so just press play and enjoy the sounds.
Moombahton | Moombah Mondays

We’re finally back with another edition of the good ole Moombah Monday’s. This week I will stick to what you guys have been asking for, and that’s nothing but that 110bpm goodness. D!RTY AUD!O decided to crank out a heavy Moombahcore original track today and thank god I held off a little so I could post it on here. The melody in this track is one of a kind with a grimey, thick drop. We don’t usually see these heavy sounds from him, but he nailed this mix on point.
Will Bailey contributing some Moombahcore this week as well with a heavy hitting original entitled Spider. Seems as though the only thing separating Moombahton and Dubstep these days is the bpm. The sounds are slowly merging into one and this is a good example of it.
Alright you guys have to excuse me for being a little on this next remix, but what a remix it is. I couldn’t help myself but be overjoyed when I heard this remix all the way through today. It was not even close to what I was expecting to hear. The build up to the drop had me sitting on the edge of my seat, and it was well worth the wait. The best way to to try and explain this track is by letting you hear it.
