Dubstep | Knife Party – Fire Hive (Krewella Fuck On Me Remix)

Posted by on April 11, 2012

Krewella is turning up the heat this spring with their latest release: a high-energy, reggae-tinged remix of Knife Party’s Fire Hive. Riddled with air horns and Rasta exclamations, Krewella continues to do what the group does best by combining their signature sultry vocals with vicious dubstep drops. Despite the sensuality of the track, their Fuck On Me remix provides an aggressive twist to the English duo’s dubstep anthem.

Dubstep | Subscape – Screw Up VIP

Posted by on April 10, 2012

Finally the edits of this song going around can stop. Probably one of the most sought after VIP’s in dubstep was given away for free by the Dub Police superstar, Subscape, himself. After listening to all the edits over the past months it feels good to finally have this banger. If you don’t know anything about this tune, then you need to get out from under your rock and grab this free download because things like this a don’t happen everyday where an artist gives away one of their top VIP’s. The dominant driving kick and snare definitely set up the mood for one of the grimiest VIP’s to date.

Dubstep, Review | Prototypes – Cascade Remixes

Posted by on April 9, 2012

It took them long enough to drop these remixes, I mean I have had Cutline’s remix for over a year now and now it releases. At this point I believe everyone has Cutline’s remix, but the honorable mention of these remixes has to be Wickaman’s remix now. Gives the impression like Bassnectar has an alter-ego now. That just happens to not be the case, but I really like the mellow bass-line Wickaman laid out for this remix. Both remixes are sick, it just depends what kind of dubstep style you like more, dirty or chill.

Dubstep | Featured Artist: Haywyre

Posted by on March 29, 2012

Martin Vogt aka Haywyre, has been studying piano since the age of six. His interest in the production of hip-hop, dubstep and electronica began when he lived in Austria. Shortly after moving back to the United States, in 2008, Haywyre was created. Since then he has released four albums, The Voyage being most recent. His inspiration comes from artists such as Opiuo, Noisia, Break, STS9, Pretty Lights, Flying Lotus, Freddy Todd, Trentemoller, Patrick O’Hearn, Kraak & Smaak, Phillip Glass and more. His music production is made possible with FL Studio, Ableton Live, an AKAI MPK 88 midi keyboard, and an Edirol UA-101 Audio Interface.

Haywyre is 19 years old and currently studies Music Business in Minneapolis, MN. This summer he will be performing a few shows in Wisconsin with his friend Mindspyk. Although his future releases have no official dates set yet, he did tell me he has a few EPs lined up with several different labels, including a ‘pay what you want’ release on bandcamp.

The first track on here is an incredible Glitch-Hop preview that Haywyre just uploaded the other day. The track is full of raw energy, his electrified synths really take off with your imagination. Can’t wait to hear when this one will get released.

Released the same day as the preview for ‘Raw Crunch,’ ‘But Now You Say’ is an old dubstep track of Haywyre’s. Old to him, but new to us, the track makes me think of a blend of Pretty Lights and Bassnectar, if they ever joined forces to do a track. It has the mellow, Indie electronic vibes of Pretty Lights, with the deep, smooth bassline like Bassnectar. A must have in my opinion.

The last set of tracks on here are from Haywyre’s most recent EP release, ‘Encompassing.’ Having obtained the EP myself, I really enjoyed both tracks. ‘The Observer’ is a melodic Glitch-Hop track, where as ‘Mono Nova’ is a smooth, but dirty dubstep track.

“The title is based on the assumption that the ‘Waking Life’ reality encompasses our ‘Dreaming Life’ reality. This is symbolized by the two, stonehenge-like structures. Very much so inspired (surprise surprise) by the movie The Waking Life.”

Dubstep | R Rated #22 + UMF IDs

Posted by on March 28, 2012

I really enjoyed listening to this weeks tracks for R. This week is you click the ‘Read On’ button, you can listen to some unreleased dubstep from the Ultra Music Festival. The first track on the list is preview only, but well worth the listen. The drop happens instantly with some dirty Glitch-Hop, carrying out through the entire track. Kisbeat! & Chemical made a lot happen on this remix, instead of being overwhelmed, you just want to jam out.

Redial really brought the heat with this remix of Rage Against The Machine. This remix is exactly what this post is all about, nasty dubstep. This was meant to be played loud and proud, so don’t be stingy with those volume controls.

Now we all know the ‘Walking Alone’ remixes are coming out as fast as we forget them, but this one in my opinion will never be forgotten. The build is smooth and classy, which is great when the drop is more rude than Scrooge selling your Christmas gifts to buy Viagra for a happy holiday.

I wasn’t sure if I actually liked this remix, blasting a song always helps in the decision making process. This remix is indeed freaky, and that’s how we like it for R.

A lot of people have never heard of Kraddy, but for sure have heard Samples at least once. This might be the filthiest work I have ever heard samples do. He definitely branched out with the synths he used, adding in some dirty wobbles as well.

Last we have an upcoming track from Terravita. The track is set to drop on an unnamed, 4 track EP off Datsik’s ‘Firepower’ label. Not much I need to say about this clip, it certainly speaks for itself.
