Electro-House | Dada Life – Boing Clash Boom (Remixes)
Posted by Middy on June 5, 2013
Dada Life‘s album “The Rules Of Dada” has already seen remixes from the likes of Tiesto and Dillon Francis, and now can add the Bingo Players, Major Lazer and Pierce Fulton to the list. While the two bigger names are somewhat expected and add their own unique character to the track, Pierce Fulton should be no surprise, since he recently was a performer at the Dada Life compound in San Francisco a few weeks ago. It is cool to see Pierce getting picked up for such high profile remixes, he deserves it.
The remixes are all quite different and each brings something unique from each other and from the original. Major Lazer go for a slower trapped out stylistic change, while Pierce adds his own chunky bass line in place of the traditional Dada Life electro drop, and the Bingo Players add a jarring acid fueled drop that takes a little while to get used to, but really works in the context of the song. If you are in NYC this weekend, Pierce is turning 21 on Saturday, so come to Lavo and get weird with him as Pierce has his first drink ever and potentially shotguns a beer with you after the show. House | The S.O.S Band – Take Your Time (Do It Right) (Solidisco Remix)

This is track of the night, if this doesn’t get you amped up for the weekend then I have failed, but I feel lucky with this. Solidisco did an exceptional job on this remix, I cannot get myself to stop grooving to this. The drop is the perfect vibe. If you aren’t playing this now, you are seriously missing out.

Electro-House, Progressive House | Empire of the Sun – Alive (Remixes)
Posted by Middy on May 28, 2013
Luke Steele & Nick Littlemore, better known as Empire of the Sun, have created enourmous buzz for their sophomore artist album “Ice On The Dune“, set for release June 18th, notably after the success of their 2008 album “Walking On A Dream”. The lead single “Alive“, has already been a huge hit for the duo and not surprisingly has been remixed by some of the best in dance music.
Fast rising stars, Zedd and Mat Zo take the daunting task of doing an official remix for Empire of the Sun and hit it out of the park. Mat Zo brings back his atmospheric synths of earlier productions, while adding his own quick synth progression, keeping an appropriate amount of the original and vocal for a nuanced approach to the track. Zedd adds his own touch to the song with a fidgety, gritty low end, growling synths and chopped vocals showing his ability to mold his electro sound to an indie-dance track like this. David Guetta and his production team bring “Alive” to the festival stage with an in your face drop of grinding synths and thumping bass. Fellow Australian, M4SONIC adds a glitchy twist to the track with his own blend of gritty synths and fast paced key play.
Dubstep | Shrine – Kursk (Emperor Remix)

Emperor has really been producing some outstanding tunes lately. After having released one of the better DnB tracks in the past few months entitled ‘She Said’, which has been getting great feedback, he pulls through with this neuro-styled dubstep remix. The sounds he uses in this drop aren’t really what you hear many artist use, which is what attracted me to it right away. I know you guys probably hear that a lot, but this is probably when I truthfully mean it. This track has an eerie, aggressive, and dark vibe to it that just keeps me replaying it.
House, Review | Stars Above – Higher Than The Sky EP
Posted by Mach on May 21, 2013
Stars Above is always serenading me with his touch of Trance on his House tracks. it has been well over 18 months since Stars Above was able to release an original production, but he is now here with two epic tracks. Every time I hear a new tune from Stars Above I imagine myself under a massive tent, then I turn up my volume and get lost in the music. His title track, “Higher Than The Sky” makes me want to throw my arms in the air that high. The second drop breaks into an awesome dance vibe, something to make any big room just lose it. “Daybreak” wakes me up, seriously, it has been my alarm for a few days now and I love it. It is the perfect progression for lightening my mood from “I can’t believe I actually have to get out of bed this morning”. Out of the two, “Daybreak” is definitely my favorite, I am just a sucker for piano and Stars Above delivered.
Drum & Bass, Hip-Hop, Preview | Rusty K – Freakuency

Speaking of Neuro-hop, Drum & Bass producer owned face with this insane Neuro-hop clip. The intro is very different from what we have been hearing from other tracks in this sub-genre, best part is, so is the drop. My mind was blown instantly at the drop, it is one of the dirtiest things I have ever heard. You can sure I will be waiting day by day for this original to release.
