Indie, Progressive House | NONONO – Pumpin Blood (The Chainsmokers Remix)
Posted by Mel on January 20, 2014
The Swedish group NONONO (pronounced no-no-no..) very recently (though in all honesty it’s almost been a week) had their hit song “Pumpin Blood” remixed by The Chainsmokers and quite frankly, it’s not bad! It’s clearly not their best work and it actually kind of sucks but once you get passed all that it’s quite good! The track starts with a “really emotional piano intro that pulls you in”, according to them, and then climaxes at a good, yet oddly familiar drop that is probably a little too similar to their “Dreaming” remix. It then goes on to feature an almost trap like breakdown which certainly helps it stand out amongst their vast catalog of releases. This is likely not their best work but it’s still good song. We can’t expect them to hit a home run with every release because they just don’t have the talent to do so.
They have sold out big time and have their first original song “#Selfie” coming out on producing genius Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak Records on January 28th so get ready for that. It should be adequate.

Dubstep, Electronic | Felix Cartal feat. Ofelia – New Scene (CRNKN Remix)
Posted by BP on November 14, 2013
It’s always a pleasure to hear a new CRNKN song. CRNKN’s remix of “New Scene” by Felix Cartal feat. Ofelia is some pretty chill work. It could maybe be considered melodic dubstep, or just electronic. The vocals by Ofelia are very pretty, and the melody in this track is outstanding. This is out on Dim Mak Records and luckily is free to download!

Electro-House | Dzeko & Torres – Hey EP
Posted by Middy on December 18, 2012
Toronto duo, Dzeko & Torres make their Dim Mak debut with a three track EP comprised of two new records, “Hey” and “Check This Out”, as well as the previously released for free download “Buppy”. “Hey”, highlights the tougher side of their sound, using a prolonged riser and grungy low end. “Buppy”, the free download, continues along the vein of harder electro tracks that this EP brings to the table as a standout Dim Mak release with its punchy bass line and grinding synths. “Check This Out” brings together a distorted bass line with high pitched synths and what would a track be without an air horn? Interview to come later this week with the guys, you will want to stick around for this one.

Electro-House | Albin Myers – Hells Bells EP
Posted by Middy on May 1, 2012
The Swedish electro house aficionado, Albin Myers is known for making tracks that put push the limits of electro house, such as “Bumbaclot” and his remix of “Fade Into Darkness”, that was more on the progressive side, but still showed his unique sound. This EP, out on Dim Mak Records, brings together his harder, grungier sounds into an EP with the track “Hells Bells”, which has been championed by the likes of Tiesto, Avicii & Tristan Garner and is a perfect weapon in any set and very good in bootlegs. Just when you thought it wasn’t possible to up the tempo and energy of the track just a bit more, he then adds a drumstep version of “Hells Bells”, though the signature drop is sacrificed a bit. The first two tracks are very good being a little less grungy and uptempo, providing a little respite for the listener and showing the more subtle side of Albin Myers’ sound, while still keeping up with “Hells Bells” and the drumstep counterpart. Albin Myers is definitely one to keep an eye on this year and into the future with his unique sound and ability to be creative and versatile.

Electro-House, Moombahton | Alvin Risk – Infinity (Preview) & Dirty Dancer Remix
Posted by Mach on April 12, 2012
Protege to Skrillex, Alvin Risk is a force to reckon with. One of my favorite things about him is that he doesn’t just stick to one genre of music, he dabbles in Moombahton, Dubstep, and Electro-House. His title track ‘Infinity’ is a dark, but awesome dance tune. The build up is intense and shocks you once that dance forever drop goes down. I am sure we will get to see a few sides of him on his upcoming EP, ‘Infinity,’ which drops April 24th on Dim Mak Records.
Now it is time to delete all of those awful rips of Alvin Risk’s ‘Dirty Dancer’ remix that all of you have. He seemed to have just enabled the downloads for the tracks 320kbps on his soundcloud (that means it’s studio quality). This track is awesome, Moombahton at its finest and then some. Enjoy.
