Hip-Hop, Rap | Mike Melinoe – Hold My Dust

Posted by on September 12, 2014

Hailing from Detroit is Mike Melinoe, an emcee and part of the rap conglomerate known as Organic Geniuses. In anticipation of his new project, PropeR Element$, Melinoe has dropped off a captivating single titled, “Hold My Dust”.

His voice is raspy, yet intoxicating. His lyricism is dark, yet playful. The instrumental is old-school, yet contemporary and unique.

Nothing about “Hold My Dust” is ordinary, and that shows. While only 22, Melinoe strikes me as a young emcee to really make some moves this coming year.

Tune back in for PropeR Element$, and enjoy some hip-hop for your weekend.

Hip-Hop, Rap | Richy Marciano – WZUP

Posted by on February 26, 2014

Making his Fresh New Tracks debut, Richy Marciano, holds nothing back on the new single and video “WZUP”. The Detroit native pours all of his energy and city-spirit in to all of his music, and “WZUP” is no exception. Marciano is still riding out the success of his 2013 project Emphasis on My City, with this being the second video released from the body of work.

Marciano is currently working on his follow-up tape, but if you missed the first, be sure to give it a download here.

Bass, House | NVOY – Breathe feat. Jess Brinham

Posted by on November 4, 2013

With the return of deep house music, sometimes we get carried away with the trend and forget what actually sounds good. Luckily the boys from the Oxford-based duo NVOY have us covered. Their style of “music for beautiful girls” can be attributed to house’s roots in the Detroit and Chicago, as well as UK garage. Each track is numbingly good, hitting that sweet spot like a piña colada on a summer’s day. For those of you that are nearing the end of your infatuation with Settle, look no further than NVOY. Check out their most recent releases below in addition to their available free downloads via Facebook.

This first track is their most recent and was featured on Skream & Benga’s BBC Radio 1 show. I lose it at the 2-minute mark.

This next track, “Is It Good,” is in fact, very good.

Hip-Hop, Videos | Big Sean – Fire (Video)

Detroit native Big Sean dropped the music video for his latest single “Fire” off his upcoming album Hall Of Fame. The GOOD Music rapper recruited video vixen Miley Cyrus for the visuals, and she’s not twerking in this one. Why you may ask? Big Sean explains to MTV News: “I wanted somebody who was beautiful and I wanted to take her out of her element… she symbolizes the beauty of a lot of women overcoming different relationships and being as beautiful as a flower.” I love the production on this  record by DJ Camper, and if you haven’t heard it yet, you should. Big Sean says that this song is about “getting through your own fire, making it through the fire.”  So rise up and enjoy this free download thanks to Samsung!
