Maye Star unleashed the second single off his upcoming mixtape, Mayehem, scheduled to drop sometime in April. Backed by some light brass, soothing strings, and melodic keys “The Takeover” gives us an introduction into what we’re about to hear from Boston’s own Maye Star. Maye exercises his ability to rattle off words at a very fast pace, which is something I’d love to see Maye do more often. #DreamTeam

Maye Star. Now that you’ve heard the name, remember it. The young MC residing in Boston is lyrically infectious. I first caught wind of Maye Star when I saw him open for YONAS several months back in Boston. He proceeded to roll lyrics off his tongue like he had been doing it for years. There’s no question he’s got a rare ability to spit it quick, but it should be known his lyrics hold truth and personality as well. “Go Hard” features fellow Boston artist, Deon Chase, and serves as the newest single off his upcoming mixtape, MayeHam. The project will include features from Moufy as well as Los (who Maye has impressed time and time again at post show cyphers), and FNT regular De-Lor. This may be the first time we’ve featured Maye Star, but it certainly won’t be the last.

Deon Chase aka the 16 year old Hip Hop artist we presented last week, sent over his latest track entitled “For The Chase” which features a bass thumping big boy beat that he handles quite well. I’m still bullish about this young gun – I encourage you to sound off in the comments section with your opinion.

An increasing number of young guns seem to be emerging with quality material these days. Deon Chase is undoubtedly one of the better 16 years olds we’ve heard on FNT so needless to say, he’s in a ripe position to take a stab at the limelight.
