Mashups | Will Drusch Mashups

Posted by on November 30, 2010

It’s always refreshing to discover a new mashup artist who can handle tempos, levels, and avoid awkward spots. For a kid working off of his free version of Garage Band, Will Drusch isn’t doing all that bad in this game. Although he’s using older tracks, what’s coming out of my speakers sounds fresh and new… This video above inspired me to get a mullet for a second but then I came to my senses. “I approach you from the front you’re kinda like wow this dudes pretty serious then I walk away and you’re like damn he likes to party with two R’s”.

Will Drusch – Call Me A Mili and Act a Fool

Will Drusch – Say Lollipop

Will Drusch – Buy You A Remix To Ignition

Will Drusch – Freaky Mobbin

BONUS: Here’s another mash that uses Call On Me – purely Jock Jams… Love it, definitely some party fuel.

Videos | Kanye West – Runaway (Short Film)

Posted by on October 24, 2010

There’s been some great debate today over this video. Some have hated it and some have loved it. Since the video is abstract, some are struggling with interpreting the film. You can click here to get a full explanation from Kanye himself. Amongst some of the themes are individuality, death, race, and pygmalion.

The main criticism has been that Kanye thinks he’s a God. I’ve got news for you, you’re right! He is an elitist. He’s like that fraternity member that you hate simply because you’re not in a fraternity. What I tend to disagree with, however, is the argument that he should stick to rapping. He may not be a genius, but he definitely has vision and is extremely creative.

This video is just another avenue for him to express his creativity through. When you tell him “he should just stick to rapping” you’re essentially putting him a box. And that my friends, just doesn’t seem fair to me.

DO SOMETHING

House, Techno | Christopher S

Posted by on October 23, 2010

Christopher S has been all over the house scene lately so I thought I would compile some of his best recent offerings. Christopher S dubs himself as “The Fashion House King” because well.. “he celebrates fashion and house!” I am definitely not the resident fashionista (that’s A if anyone is wondering) so I can’t comment on his clothes, but what I can tell you is that he has a knack for producing house bangers which usually feature increasing sequences that culminate in huge, uplifting chorus bars. (Note: due to the fact that these are house tracks they all have 1+ min intros so preview the middle to get the feel)

Christopher S. Ft. Manuel – You Make Me Feel High (Original Mix)

Christopher S. Ft. Manuel – Relight My Fire (Christopher S. Remix)

Christopher S. Ft. Fannie Luescher – Free (Let Yourself Go) (Club Mix)

Sir Colin – Sunny (Christopher S. & Mike Candys Remix)

Flava Stevenson – Love & Die (Christopher S. Remix)

Electro, Hip-Hop | The Neeks ft Ratatat- Party.edu

Posted by on October 4, 2010

The Neeks are 3 seniors at Bowdoin College from Miami, Dubai, and California. They met at music class while struggling to learn serialism and the 12 tone technique. They’re now working on an album mixing hip-hop/electronic sounds that is coming out in the near future. I’m definitely looking forward to hearing more from these guys.

Electro, House | Party Fuel

Posted by on September 29, 2010

Ladies and gentlemen, it’s officially pledging season. You know what that means? It’s time to bust out some new party fuel that provokes everyone to go buck-wild and thus create the largest messes in frats nationwide.

If you take one part “old” frat banger (Show Me Love) and add that to one part “new” frat banger (SHM – One) you end up with one absolutely filthy track. Honestly, a part of me feared this bootleg might not work too well, however, Trifo prepared this beat almost perfectly.

Interestingly enough, you can definitely hear elements from both the tracks used above, in this AfroJack remix. The signature “clap” sound from One seems to be catching on and for good reason – it’s a great tool to accentuate drops.

Fonzerelli maintains a perfect balance of sounds with his remixes; there’s a noticeable theme, yet they’re not redundant and monotonous. A number of DJs suffer from a lack of ingenuity; rather than exploring new boundaries, they confine themselves to a common theme. I guess the idea that success breeds failure rings true for some, but Fonzerelli continuously debunks this adage.

This might be slightly overdone, but I’ll leave that conclusion up to you. Lend the preview an ear if you’re a fan of the original.
Flo Rida feat David Guetta – Club Can’t Handle Me (Adi Perez 10′ Remix)

Here’s a basement thumper with some authentic instrument sounds thrown in the mix.

Electro | Duck Sauce – Barbra Streisand

Posted by on September 28, 2010

Want to know how to make a viral video these days? See Duck Sauce’s shining example above. This popped up almost everywhere today and although we strive to be unique on FNT, I couldn’t resist posting this originally themed video which happens to be packed with some fantastic cameos.

Here’s the original version of the song; it’s funky yet sweet. Give it a shot, it’ll definitely grow on you if it doesn’t catch your ear the first time around. Support the artists by purchasing this song on BeatPort.
