Progressive House | Dirty South & Deniz Koyu – Halo
Posted by Middy on February 5, 2013
Ahead of the March 5th release of his debut album “Speed Of Life”, Dirty South drops off this heavenly collab with Deniz Koyu “Halo”. It has all the hallmarks of a track from the late 2000s with an updated twist. “Halo” combines an old school groove with emotive strings, a quick alternating bass line and anthemic synth chords that bring this track to the festival stage and make it a must have for WMC. With these two incredibly innovative producers on one track, you would have to expect greatness and they delivered with this angelic track that keeps your attention from start to finish.

House | Nicky Romero, Nilson & John Christian – Still The Same Man
Posted by Middy on February 4, 2013
Nicky Romero takes a big 180 with this production (in a good way) and goes to his pre-Toulouse sound, before the revolution he started with massive presets to tracks like “Camorra” and adds a groove we have not heard in quite some time in his tracks. Nicky Romero gets funky with fellow Dutchman Nilson & John Christian on “Still The Same Man” with this modern reinterpretation of the 2006 track “Same Man” from Till West & DJ Delicious. In his debut on Toolroom Records, Nicky Romero shows his versatility as producer with the strong tech and disco influences of the original, adding deft key play to this 2013 rendition of “Still The Same Man” that is sure to invigorate any dance floor.

Preview, Progressive House | DubVision – Redux (Preview)
Posted by Middy on January 29, 2013
Coming off of their debut on Axtone records with their remix of Discopolis “Committed To Sparkle Motion“, the dutch duo make their return to Spinnin Records where they made their breakout with the single “All By Myself”. “Redux” follows the same grain as their previous tracks with festival sized drops and soaring melodies and though they may take some flack for not switching it up enough, their sound is so melodic and uplifting, it is just fine. Check back here on March 8th for the release.

Hip-Hop, Videos | D-WHY – 2,000 Miles [Music Video]
Posted by Jess on January 23, 2013
After much anticipation, D-WHY releases the visuals to “2,000 Miles”, one of my favorite songs off his debut free album Don’t Flatter Yourself. The song is a coming-of-age of D’s travels from his hometown in West Virginia to the west. For the video, D hoped in an RV with his friends (including up-and-coming rapper KYLE) and set out on a journey across the southern California coast. At the end of the video, you can find a hidden ending that showcases another side of D-WHY, his passion of folk music that recently came to light with his release of a “Song For Newtown”. Check out the video above and download Don’t Flatter Yourself below if you have yet to do so.

Progressive House | Arias – Andromeda
Posted by Middy on January 21, 2013
Frenchman, Julien Arias, professionally known as Arias first made his name known back in 2006 aside Arno Cost with “Magenta” and later in 2011 with “Days To Come” with Arno Cost & Michael Feiner. He since has been pretty quiet, releasing a remix here and there like his “Someone Like You” remix that did pretty well. However, with the launch of his label Olympia Records and its debut release “Andromeda”, it is safe to say that Arias is back and will be busy on the production front. “Andromeda” is a very proggy, melodic track with well crafted synth layers, rolling bass lines, pitched leads, dextrous key play and a subtle vocal that round out this incredibly unique and timeless offering from the Parisian producer. This is the type of track I could see Pryda dropping during a peak moment in one of his sets.
