Drum & Bass | Drum & Bass Friday

Liquid Drum & Bass seems to release awkwardly. Sometimes I will go weeks without finding a decent Liquid track, but on days like today my thoughts are serenaded into blissful submission.

This next liquid Drum & Bass track is even more laid back than the first. The vocals on the track are strong compliments the euphoric attitude it carries. In a way it makes me sad that September is close and so is Summers end.

There is an interesting story behind this remix. Tom Budin actually debated whether or not to release this because he was not able to get the actual stems making it sound a little sloppy. Being honest, if this is a sloppy remix, Ed Sheeran has to give this guy the track stems because this is still an incredible remix. I am glad Tom ended up releasing this ‘mess.’

Just like Liquid, my hunt for decent Warehouse Drum & Bass is always cut short by wannabes that don’t seem to understand the artisitic value of the genre. Thrilla seems to understand that Warehouse is more than just heavy sounds, kicks, and snare. The composure of the track matters, this isn’t David Guetta laziness.

Progressive House | David Guetta ft. Sia – She Wolf (Falling to Pieces) [Extended + Remixes]

Posted by on August 7, 2012

David Guetta has released the follow up to his worldwide hit “Titanium” with Sia accompanying him on vocals. It is to be released as part of his re-release of Nothing But The Beat this September. No one has accused David Guetta (or his writing and producing team) of being very creative so do not surprised when you recognize the melody from “Metropolis” in here, however this song is going to be absolutely massive. It has just the right amount of dance flair to keep the haters at bay, while adding the radio friendly twist with Sia’s gorgeous vocals to continue his stranglehold of the airwaves.

While the dance piano sound has been beaten down to the ground and then some, Michael Calfan found a way to resurrect it for his remix and reconstructs the chorus using said dance piano, layering eloquently, keeping the sound fresh. Sandro Silva keeps the builds, interludes and vocals from the original, like Michael Calfan, but adds a drop that sounds almost identical to the ever potent “Epic”, though the progression is a bit different. I could see this one becoming popular for those who want to get the “Epic” sound in their set as this remix almost sounds like a bootleg. All of the mixes are great in their own right — from the radio friendly, yet dance leaning extended cut from Guetta, the blissful remix from Michael Calfan and the “Epic” remix from Sandro Silva, this is an impressive package from top to bottom.

Pop | Usher ft. Swedish House Mafia- Euphoria

Posted by on June 5, 2012

Continuing to cash-in on the dance craze that’s sweeping the hip-hop world, Usher teams up with Coachella headliners Swedish House Mafia to create a stand-out single that will have Parisian-prince, David Guetta, likely pouting in a corner over SHM making the album and his tracks only making the bonus cuts.

DO SOMETHING

Electro-House | Laidback Luke – 1234 feat. Chuckie and Martin Solveig

Posted by on May 7, 2012

This track from quite the power trio in Chuckie, Laidback Luke & Martin Solveig is pure dance floor madness. The grinding synths, progressive chord progression, pounding bass line, air horns and vocal bit done by the three Djs create the madness contained in this track. This song has been a necessity for a large number of big name Djs like Tiesto, David Guetta, Dada Life etc and with the crowd reaction it is easy to see why this should be a go to energy track this summer. After the jump check out an interview with Laidback Luke about how he made the track and the response to it.

DJ-Set, Electro-House | Nicky Romero – Toulouse (Remixes)

Posted by on March 28, 2012

What better way to start the first hour of the first day of Ultra than to have a set from Nicky Romero and to have him premier his new ID, which will be his first song on his label. The track is heavy so be ready.
Here are the the remixes for Nicky Romero’s massive hit “Toulouse”, a city that has been in the news lately for all the wrong reasons. The good people here are tough and will come out stronger than ever. We look forward to his show on the 5th. The Tommy Trash remix keeps much of the original track with the build remaining largely the same and then in the drop Tommy Trash adds his own flavor, stripping away the driving synths and adding his own percussive elements to it, perfect for the festival environment. Chocolate Puma keeps much of the original song as well because it was so good, but makes the build a little softer with some additional percussive elements and an added kick and a shaker sound to the drop. The original is a classic, but these two are still quite good, with Tommy Trash doing the best work on this massive track. His collaboration with David Guetta “Metropolis” will be released on Monday, April 2nd. After the jump is a superb half hour mix Nicky Romero made for Sirius XM during his time down in Miami during WMC with unreleased tracks “Nicktim” and the aforementioned “Metropolis”.

Progressive House | Jessie J – Domino (Myon & Shane 54 Club Mix)

Posted by on March 14, 2012

I have a confession to make. I’m a sucker for huge tracks with female vocals. That should come as no surprise, as I was the one who personally coined the term “Girl Fire” in the first place. There’s nothing better than cruising home from the club with a bad chick riding shotgun with the windows down while you do your best David Guetta impression with two hands stretched towards an imaginary crowd hoping to impress said ladyfriend. Trust me, it works 50% of the time every time.
