April 19th, 2012, the day started just like any other. I had woken up a few minutes later than usual and after doing the math, figured that I would miss about five minutes of my first class. I then decided to skip the whole day and stay home. As per usual when I don’t go to class, I bump it up to twice a day. Two girls were texting me at the time so I was just super busy, the time that had been allocated for me to study and do the work that I was missing was pushed aside in order to make room to mow the lawn, like my dad had asked me to days prior. I didn’t mow the lawn and instead went to Best Buy to get some Beats by Dre Studio’s. I got them, in black for some reason, came home and bumped it up once again to three times a day. After my third Klondike bar of the day, making my bi-hourly visit to Soundcloud seemed like the next obvious choice.

It was then that I became acquainted with 20 year old, New York based producer Stereoshock, or as his mother calls him Josh Cohen. I was eating some leftover chilli at the time and accidentally spilled some on my shirt but it didn’t matter, because the song I was listening to was just so good. It wasn’t an original, but it sure sounded like it. At that point forward I was aware that an edit or mashup could be more than vocals thrown over an instrumental or simply interchanging two songs drops. Stereoshock has a level of sophistication in both his edits and originals that is not seen very often. Over time we’ve become friends, and he expressed interest in an interview, so I obliged. Be warned that this interview is extremely serious. We talk about only the most important topics that other artists refuse to.

just juice heart of steel

Some of you may remember Just Juice from the feature back on Fresh New Tracks a few months ago. Having undergone a name change to ‘Just Juice’ and done some serious maturing, it’s evident that the young man’s music has come a long way. “Heart of Steel” is the leading single off of his upcoming mixtape and really showcases what the Boston native has in store.

“Heart of Steel” features a well produced old-school instrumental from Ceej and Just Juice’s signature delivery. Juice has promised to give listeners “just [him], none of the other additives or bullshit, just juice straight from the heart and soul.” So be sure to check out the song below, grab the free download and stay up to date if you’re digging the sound!

Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman ft. Anna Yvette - Silver Sun (Lights 2013 Anthem)After releasing nothing all year, Dimitri Vangelis and Wyman are on a tear, releasing their “People Of The Night” remix on Monday and now revealing their next single “Silver Sun”, which will be the anthem of Lights Festival in Stockholm on November 30th. Festival anthems tend to be not that great, but wow this not only shatters that expectation, but may also be the Stockholm based duo’s best track to date. The track comes out September 27th exclusively on Spotify (don’t get why labels do that) and then will be released on all other portals October 22nd. For all Europeans, get info on the festival here.

Michael Brun - Gravity EP

He’s been saying it was coming for months now, and for a time we all believed it was imminent. But after a while, like the boy who cried wolf, an artist can only say “soon” so many times before fans stop believing you and stop paying attention to your release date posts. At last, after a few recent remixes, we have that precious EP from Michael Brun and a solid release date on September 23rd. It includes “Halfway”, featuring vocals from Zashanell, which has already seen radio play, so expect that one to become a big single for Mr. Brun.

Hip-Hop | Eminem – Berzerk

As many of you probably know by now, last night during a commercial break of the VMA’s a Beats by Dre commercial announced the title and release date of Eminem’s 8th Studio album. Dubbed “The Marshall Mathers LP 2”, this is the sequel to the fastest-selling studio album by any solo artist in American music history and it’s set to release on 11/5/13. Berzerk is the first single off the album and it has a old school Beastie Boys vibe to it. The Stans are going to love it and the people who are still praying for the old Eminem to return probably wont. Let’s just hope this album will live up to it’s name. Stream the track below.
