House | AC Slater & Anna Lunoe – All Night
Posted by Middy on August 7, 2013
I am generally pretty skeptical of covers, especially taking songs into different genres, but AC Slater & Anna Lunoe nailed it. It is more of a remix / cover, then a pure cover, since it only takes bits and pieces of the original “Power Trip” from J Cole & Miguel. The track takes a simple vocal motif, spins it into new light with Anna Lunoe seductive voice and adds an irresistible groove, with a mixture of deep and bright synths. It is free, so just get it now. He is also a part of Jack Beat’s upcoming remix EP, coming next week, so preview that below.

Cover, Videos | Connor Zwetsch – Home (Phillip Phillips Cover)
Posted by J_Salzer on July 30, 2013
The ever magnificent, phenomenal singing, beautiful, talented, Connor Zwetsch has given us her latest cover. Now that I’ve gotten my adjectives for today’s post out of the way, I can get down to the nitty gritty. You all know Connor has got the pipes, but what some of you might not know, is her songwriting ability. In addition to being able to blow the cover off of covers, her originals are majestic also. There are plenty of people that can sing other people’s songs well, and Connor can do that, but the real talent comes from being able to create their own magic, and Connor Zwetsch can do that. I guess what I’m getting at is: enjoy these covers, but keep in mind that the originals are coming too, and they will be incredible. Believe me.
Events | Electric Adventure Announces Full Lineup, Tickets Still on Sale
Posted by Middy on July 19, 2013
Electric Adventure painfully announced the lineup one name at a time, culminating in Seven Lions being the final artist added to a bass heavy roster fit for an American festival. The recently expanded, two-day festival being held at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson New Jersey, boasts names like Dillon Francis, GTA, Seven Lions, Doctor P, Figure, Zeds Dead and a live show from Destroid. You can see the full lineup on the poster above. One of the finer things about the lineup is that it has scheduled breaks in between for you to go enjoy the rides with DJs like DJ Bl3nd taking over the decks. With all of this heavy bass music coming to Six Flags, I can’t wait to see all of the terrified looks on parents faces when they first see all of these kids running around in neon, yolo trucker hats and other obscene apparel that covers almost no skin, and then hear the screeching dubstep come blaring out of the Electric Adventure area. Should be a blast and a clash of cultures. The park will also be open late for people who bought Electric Adventure tickets, so you will have an extra 2 hours, until midnight, to ride roller coasters before slinking on home. Tickets are still on sale so grab them before they are gone.
Cover, Videos | Of Monsters and Men – Little Talks (Connor Zwetsch Cover)
Posted by J_Salzer on July 16, 2013
FNT favorite and veteran postee Connor Zwetsch gives us her latest cover. She’s turning this into a routine on Sunday’s and I don’t think I could love it more. Most of the covers posted on music blogs are popular, mainstream songs, but Connor chooses more low key songs, that show off her vocal ability. This week’s cover is a Monsters and Men hit, and Connor does it justice, and although I’ve never loved the original song, Connor’s version entrances me. Check out the video above and be on the lookout for more Connor coming on Sunday’s.
Videos | My Son The DJ: Laidback Luke
Posted by Middy on June 10, 2013
The fearless and seemingly indefatigable Laidback Luke has done a documentary on his life, not just from a professional standpoint, but really looking at him from his parents standpoint, as a son (as the title says) and then his outside activites not related to DJing.
The 26 minute documentary covers a lot of his life, including his relationship with his parents, his kids and his wife, but there are a few interesting things to really look for. One, his exploits as a Kung Fu fighter are pretty badass and you see him train with his master, which is pretty awesome. You also hear him talk about his family in the Philippines, who are very poor, living at or below the poverty line, while he is making a lot of money. He tries to explain that inner struggle where you see the night and day contract in life styles and he wants to help them get out of their situation, but it is not that simple. He also sheds light on his time when he drank on tour and how he had to stop after one fateful night, a very interesting story and something that seems to more common than you might think with DJs.
Cover, RnB | Spenz — Do Me Now (Cover)
Posted by jeffwbaird on May 30, 2013

We hardly ever post covers—so I guarantee this one is something special. My aversion partly has to do with the fact that I place so much value in songwriting, but also because it’s extremely rare to find one in which an artist actually adds something to the original. For most upstarts, covers essentially become replications—just a means of highlighting that they can also fill the space of an overproduced pop instrumental. But, on that rare occasion, I hear one that improves something that was missing on the original, or gives life to it in a unique way. Such is the case here, as Jamaican R&B artist Spenz reinterprets K. Roosevelt’s “Do Me Now”, which—even though it’s taking over radio right now—is underwhelming, given the quality of the Hit-Boy beat he received. Spenz provides that missing energy, smoothes out K. Roosevelt’s more staccato delivery, and adds some soul. You can expect to hear a lot more from this talented new artist in the coming months. In the meantime, keep up with him here.
