Videos | Rick Ross – Yella Diamonds

Posted by on February 8, 2012

I don’t care what you kids at home who still live with their parents who listen to Lil Wayne religiously think, Rick Ross is the hottest MC in the world right now. The New Yorker recently said of the bawse:

What matters is not the rap sheet but the rhyme, and the spin the m.c. can give to the trade. Ross’s success in mimicking drug lords has brought him the ability to live like one of them. Profiles have documented his large homes, his fleet of cars, his shopping sprees at watch stores, his solicitous entourage and flexible schedule. Ross may represent the final abandonment of hip-hop’s mandate to “keep it real,” a concept that goes by different names now but has not gone away. Perhaps listeners know that this is a version of “Miami Vice,” a show that Ross claims to have been inspired by. The appeal is less some kind of documentary thrill than Ross’s ability to transmit the confidence that comes from blithely running up roaming fees while driving a Rolls-Royce through Samoa.

Basically, the New York Times is saying Rick Ross is a big ole’ phony with a perfect correctional officer attendance record. How can you blame them. It’s all true. That doesn’t matter though. Like all good pop music, rap is now theatre, and Rick Ross is simply playing a character. If you didn’t pick up “Rich Forever” the first time I encourage you to do so – as it will inevitably make you feel like you could be the biggest drug dealer in the world.

Electro, Hip-Hop | Sam Adams – Push and Rise (Remix) [Prod. Wolfgang Gartner]

Posted by on September 13, 2011

This new Sam Adams leak is a straight up ELECTRO BANGER remix of Wolfgang Gartners hit “Push and Rise”. Few artists can tackle energetic and up-beat tracks like Sam who has mastered the concept of adding value to the songs he flips. There’s a lot to be said for that considering the industry is over-saturated with a handful of songs that artists recycle but fail to improve. This electro pop genre is his forte. I think we’ll be seeing an even more refined version of this out of Sam in his album which is set to drop in the near future. In fact, I can confirm that since I’ve heard a number of the cuts. As for the background of this track – I don’t have too much info aside from the fact that I heard it several months ago – long before he started working on his album material. Haters are going to hate, but try to do yourself a favor and give this an unbiased listen. (Note: this is NOT an official release, it’s just a LEAK I got my hands on)

Hip-Hop | Mac Miller Interview by Hard Knock TV

Posted by on August 23, 2011

After his latest music video received over 2 million views within days, Hard Knock TV hopped on the cam to get some insight into Mac Miller’s take on a few buzzing topics like Donald Trump calling him the next Eminem as well as the inspiration for his hit visuals. I normally shy away from solo video posts, but this one was too good to pass up. Mac is surprisingly well spoken and is an ace when it comes to articulating his concept of his upcoming album Blue Slide Park.

Videos | Mac Miller – Best Day Ever [OFFICIAL VIDEO]

Posted by on July 22, 2011

This is my favorite Mac Miller video yet and considering his series of Rex Arrow films in part fueled his rise to fame, that’s saying a lot. In true Mac Miller fashion, this laid back tune get the unique film concept treatment that his visuals are notorious for. Here’s what Mac had to say about this drop “Enjoy… thank you for all the support in the preparation and dropping of Best Day Ever. Yall are the shit and have made this last year of my life incredible. hope u enjoy. thumbs up.” Man this kid does it right – he’s putting his competitors to shame…

Here are some DOPE the visuals to The Dean’s List’s Dear Professor, which was off their latest mixtape, The Drive-In. The concept of the whole video is pretty funny, just three little badasses causing havoc.

Hoodie recently dropped some visual to go along with his newest track which samples Marina And The Diamonds recording “I Am Not A Robot”. Props to director Zach Goldberg for coming up with an interesting concept for the video. Check out Hoodie on Facebook and Twitter.

This easily could have been a single posted track, but I didn’t want to overwhelm everyone on their day back. This is a high quality track; great production, great hook, great verses, great style, I could go on all day… Our hip-hop fans should be into this for sure.
