Events | Steve Aoki: Winter White @ SJSU 1/30 and Cal Poly 1/31
Posted by Nick on January 12, 2014
Steve Aoki, one of the biggest artists in the game today, owner of Dim Mak Records, is about to have probably one of the craziest weekends of his career, playing not just one, but TWO college campuses in a row. The good people over at Collective Effort Events hooked it up once again, bringing not only Steve, but also Dzeko & Torres, Bones, and John Beaver to San Jose, in addition to AutoErotique and Max Styler to SLO.
These performances are not ones you want to miss. Think about it: Aoki shows are already filled with champagne showers, crowd rafting, and of course, the famous birthday caking – now add a couple thousand college students, and you get one of the most nuts environments you could possibly imagine. Even if you’re not a fan of Steve Aoki (and I’m not sure why you wouldn’t be), you should get a ticket just for the experience.
Find tickets for the SJSU venue HERE and for Cal Poly HERE. If you’re an SJSU student, go to the Event Center box office for a discount, and if you’re a Cal Poly student, go to the Mustang Ticket Office.
Get stoked, get ready, and no excuses if you aren’t there. In the meantime, check out Steve’s unreal cake-throwing aim in slow motion below.
Hip-Hop | Sage The Gemini – College Drop (feat. Kool John)
Posted by yabishcic on December 18, 2013
I can see the college girls steppin’ to this. With another installment from Sage The Gemini, a bay area rapper thats been on some serious grind lately, this is just another banger for the books. I can only imagine San Fran clubs going bezurk for this. From his forthcoming album Remember Me, “College Drop” is just a little insite for the rest of his anticipated tracks.
Review | Jabra Revo Wireless Headphones
Posted by CHAZZZ on September 17, 2013
I recently got hit up by Sumpto (an awesome college rewards site – all college students out there should check it out!) to try out the new Jabra Wireless Revo Headphones. If I’m in the car, walking around campus, studying or just hanging out at home I am constantly listening to music. One problem I often run into with my current over-the-ear noise canceling headphones is the wires are always get in way, so I was very excited to try these wireless noise-canceling headphones. I received them from the company a few days ago and I have never fallen in love with headphones more than these. I have had these on all day and they are the perfect everyday headphone usage, providing top-notch sound quality and great noise canceling. They are an over-the-ear headphone and easily one of the most comfortable pairs I’ve ever put on. They have a very slim design and are not too bulky on your head so you can definitely rock these on campus and not stick out (unlike other headphones). The bluetooth sound quality is very good and as a sound quality geek, this was very important to me. Most wireless headphones sacrifice a lot of sound quality but the Jabra Wireless Revo headphones provide top notch sound quality. These headphones are amazing and I recommend them to any music lover out there, they are the perfect headphone for any college student. Be sure to check them HERE.
Bass, Trap | The Robot Dentist – Stacks
Posted by VMan on August 27, 2013
Some days I just want to listen to some ignorant trap music, and just rage. Today is that day, and the Robot Dentist has the right prescription for me with “Stacks.” This one goes out to all the college students, all about that FBGM lifestyle ready to tear shit up this semester. The Dentist delivers with a hard bass line, and his choice of vocal samples are straight money. Take this record for what it is, and just vibe with it, enjoy the free download, and make sure you like and follow The Robot Dentist on Facebook, and Twitter! This is a must listen!

Hip-Hop | Asher Roth – Pop Radio x Pearly Gates
Posted by admin on June 24, 2013
Asher Roth is back to offer up some new knowledge, first for his original single “Pop Radio”, followed by a freestyle over Mobb Deep’s legendary “Pearly Gates”. The former of the two is classic Asher, packed with assonance and witty rhymes that lighten up the more serious message within the song.
In “Pearly Gates”, Roth discusses his struggles within the industry thus far.
“Rick Ross can be a cop, Drake ‘started from the bottom’? No offense, I don’t wanna start a problem but come on, all I ever did was tell you I was a champ at beer pong.”
There is no doubt that Asher has to battle everyday with the image that his hit college music shows him in, however, as soon as people start opening their ears to how much substance is really behind each line, it will only be a matter of time before Ash takes off.
Be sure to download Asher’s new mixtape The Greenhouse Effect Vol. 2, out tomorrow!
Hip-Hop, Rap, RnB, Videos | Jeedy – Fine China (Remix)
Posted by admin on June 17, 2013
A new face to Fresh New Tracks, Jeedy, is a soulful emcee with poise and passion. The young cat has been working tirelessly since graduating college to perfect his craft and take his music to the next level. To hold his fans over until the release of his full mixtape, Jeedy decided to unleash a quick verse over Chris Brown’s “Fine China” instrumental. The song, as short as it is, does what it needs to do: show the world the talent which Jeedy possesses. Virginia-raised, Jeedy has made it his personal goal to put V-A on the map and being a resident myself, I couldn’t be happier.
Enjoy this tid-bit of music and stay tuned for plenty more coming very soon!
