DJ-Set, Electro-House, Progressive House | Nicky Romero Essential Mix
Posted by Middy on April 28, 2012
Nicky Romero appeared on BBC Radio One’s legendary Essential Mix show last night and definitely made the most of his opportunity, using every second of the 2 hours allotted to him to display his mastery as a producer and as a Dj mixing seamlessly through his extensive discography with hot tracks from others in the industry, while putting together a few impressive bootlegs such as his “Titanium” remix bootleg. He takes the opportunity to play many of his already released tracks, but he also uses this medium to showcase to the world some of his upcoming tracks including his UMF ID that is now a collaboration with ZROQ called WTF and will be released on Nicky Romero’s own Protocol Records.
He also played much his anticipated collaboration with Avicii “Nicktim”, a new collaboration with David Guetta that sounds great, Sander van Doorn’s upcoming anthem “Nothing Inside”, Dyro & Ansol’s electro house banger “Top Of The World”, and the first radio play of Avicii & Lenny Kravitz – Superlove (Original Mix). Nicky Romero is cementing himself as a superstar in EDM with the ability to produce all sorts of genres moving from his works with Fedde le Grand that have more of a tech feel, to his progressive solo works and those with David Guetta and his harder grimier tracks he has done on his own. The essential mixes coming at us this year have been crazy good with the previous two from Alesso & Arty both being must listens. This is perfect for your Saturday so Nicky Romero start off or continue your raging. Tracklist after the jump.

Compilation, Progressive House | Tiesto – Club Life – Volume Two Miami
Posted by Middy on April 27, 2012
Tiesto has released his massive Club Life compilation as an ode to one of the EDM capitals of the US, Miami. His first Club Life was dedicated to Las Vegas, where he helped transform the music scene dominated by a Hip Hop to one of the EDM capitals of the world possibly second only to Ibiza. The overall album shows the current direction of Tiesto’s music himself and the direction of EDM with all progressive and electro house tracks making the cut on this incredible compilation. Unlike previous compilations that we have been seeing recently that are simply a whole bunch of other people’s songs, Tiesto either made or is part of 8 of 15 of the tracks. While only 6 of the tracks are brand new, in this day and age where the constant need for new songs is there and not all the songs are Tiesto’s, that is quite a good number.
The album starts off with Tiesto’s piano driven progressive track “Chasing Summers” that really has not gotten enough credit for its production work especially with the foreboding beginning, creating a massive sense of anticipation. The album continues with his “Space Junk”esque collaboration with Wolfgang Gartner “We Own The Night” and then moves through his big mainstream remixes of Gotye – “Somebody I Used To Know” and Coldplay “Paradise” that have gotten some serious tour play. The next two tracks is where the album is truly at its best with Sultan + Ned Shepard feat. Quilla – Walls and The Naked & Famous – Young Blood (Tiësto & Hardwell Remix). “Walls” is one of those vocal progressive house anthems you will hear this summer without really knowing who made it, but make sure to get to know this track, the vocals from Quilla and especially the euphoric melody make this a must have. Hardwell & Tiesto teaming on a track worked exceptionally well on “Zero 76” and it has worked at the same level on “Young Blood” with a sublime melody and great use of the indie vocals from The Naked & Famous. Read more and preview more tracks after jump. I recommend the unmixed version to get the whole track and it comes with the continuous mix that you would be buying anyway with the mixed CD.

What an incredible performance from Knife Party (Pendulum) at UKF’s 3rd birthday celebration. The set features all four of Knife Party’s new tracks, ‘Fuck Em,’ ‘Centipede,’ ‘Sleaze,’ and ‘Bonfire,’ They are releasing on Knife Party’s new EP, ‘Rage Valley,’ dropping May 6th! The set starts out with their legendary, rarely used intro titled ‘Where’s The Bloody Knife Party?’ The set contains a few other unreleased tracks of theirs, like their VIP mixes of ‘Crush On You’ and ‘Internet Friends,’ including their unreleased collaboration with Mista Jam, ‘Until They Kick Us Out.’ Personally I enjoyed this set much more than their ‘Goat & Fire’ set before UMF started.

Hip-Hop | Asher Roth ft. Meek Mill – Party Girl
Posted by J_Salzer on April 20, 2012
Mr. Pabst and Jazz hits us with his newest collaboration with Mr. Dreamchaser(Meek Mill). A classic Asher Roth beat, with heavy synth and deep lyrics delivered slowly so we can keep up with his wittiness. Meek provides a nice change of pace with a faster paced verse, making this the perfect collaboration. Stream below and be on the lookout for the song dropping on iTunes today.
Progressive House | Michael Brun & Special Features – Synergy

Michael Brun and Special Features releasing their collaboration progressive house masterpiece Synergy today. This track has all the right ingredients to be a summer festival banger. The track starts off with some nice synth build ups into a thumping kick drum accompanied by a catchy melody. Slowly then building into a tasteful electro-house style drop that is meant to send crowds erupting. Don’t miss this great track and grab it off Beatport HERE.
Hip-Hop | Theophilus London – Big Spender(ft. A$AP Rocky)
Posted by J_Salzer on April 15, 2012
Theophilius London and resident Pretty Mothafu*ka drop off their highly anticipated collaboration. A cool, old school, bluesy/jazz, sample meshes well with the harsher flow that both of these rappers exemplify. Be on the lookout for Asap Muzik dropping soon. And if it’s anything like his last big release, it’ll be huge.

Progressive House | Nicky Romero & David Guetta – Metropolis
Posted by Middy on April 11, 2012
After several delays “Metropolis”, the instrumental collaboration between Nicky Romero & David Guetta, has finally released. This song has everything you want with hard hitting bass and synths within a huge drop as well as smooth progressive melodies to build the track that continue underneath the break. You can hear the influence of both artists in on this track, particularly Nicky Romero’s skilled production skills. This track will be massive for the summer so do not hesitate to get on this. This track is another step in what seems to be a strong relationship between these two world famous Djs and I cannot wait to see what comes next.
