FYI | Dance Music’s Worrying Trend: The Try Hard
Posted by Middy on March 5, 2014
We all know one — or unfortunately have come to know one. Two years ago they were overheard about how amazing Alesso was at EDC Las Vegas. This year they won’t be seen leaving the techno tent, save to go grab a drink or look in disgust at the kids dressed in neon wandering the festival grounds. They will be there nice and early to let everyone around them know just how extensive their knowledge is about the openers. They were up on them well before you, no doubt about that, and aren’t too sure how they feel about seeing them on such a grand stage like Ultra, E-Zoo or EDC — because naturally the next step is David Guetta-esque selling out.
Electro-House | W&W – Bigfoot
Posted by Middy on February 10, 2014
“Bigfoot” is here. Their first single since last May thunders into your living room via iTunes library, neighboring club or festival. The success of their sound has attracted innumerable imitators from artists far and wide across dance music, but they continue to be the best at what they do. “Bigfoot” is just another testament to that, so hit play and prepare for the onslaught.

Events | Above & Beyond Bring Group Therapy To Atlantic City
Posted by Middy on February 7, 2014
Still riding high from incredibly successful release of their stunning acoustic album, Above & Beyond came to the Tri-State area during Super Bowl weekend for a dose of Group Therapy at HQ Nightclub in Atlantic City. They have very few upcoming shows on the docket for this spring, so I knew that this one was a must attend, notably just after the acoustic album. I saw them in DC the weekend after they released Group Therapy, so this is becoming a tradition of mine to see them live after they release an album. I see no reason to stop. Stream the album below and read on for the rest of the review.
Bass, Trap | Enur Ft. Natasja – Calabria 2007 (The Clerk Rmx)

“Calabria” was one of my go to tracks back in the days when I was still learning what EDM was. The Clerk went into this and completely evolved it into a sawg-bass, traptastic jam. I would love to hear this blasted in a packed basement, no doubt everyone would be bumping out to this til the sweat shorted out the speakers.

Prime is back with his follow up single “Lets Get Wasted,” an Electro-House record that wants you to get wasted with your friends. Expect a massive angry saw bass synth and and a tag line vocal “Let’s Get Wasted” that leads into the drop. This is the kind of tune you get wasted to at the club. and all of sudden things get blurry, but you can somehow keep your ears on the synth, making for that euphoric feeling. This is a must listen and support by purchasing the track on Beatport!

House | SikDuo – Take Em Up (Original Mix)
Posted by BIGLIFE on December 7, 2013
Pacha NYC’s resident DJ duo keep the momentum going by serving up another free download just in time for the week. Another punchy progressive house release from the pair, “Take Em Up” stutter steps through a gauntlet of dark synthwork and blaring sirens. Crafting the perfect score for Pacha’s main room, SikDuo incorporates classic progressive melodies and a throwback hip hop sample — all designed for the club they call home. If you missed them last night, then shame on you.
Progressive House | Lush & Simon – City Of Lights
Posted by Middy on November 18, 2013
The dance music world is starting to notice Lush & Simon in a big way, especially with “Adrenaline” being the clear favorite of “Talent Revealed Volume 2“, and a mainstay of DJ sets worldwide. We saw this on Tiësto’s club life earlier in the summer and at last Trice Recordings is lucky enough to be releasing this bomb today. There is still some room on the Lush & Simon bus, hop on now while there is still room.
