Events | ATB Announces 4-City “ATB in Concert” American Tour this Fall
Posted by Middy on June 19, 2013
Trance powerhouse, ATB has amassed over his 15 year career, 8 studio albums and reputation for excellence, both in the live hemisphere and in his studio output. One of the main components that make him as a dance music artist unique is his “ATB in Concert”, which includes a live band of singers, keyboardists, guitarists, bassists and ATB himself on all sorts of instruments and percussions. It is bringing the raw, studio output to the viewer in the most organic way possible, and the tour rarely happens, so be sure to go see this, even if you have seen ATB 10 times. Tickets go on sale July 30th on his website here, and the first 20 ticket buyers will automatically win a meet-and-greet with ATB. Watch a video below from 2011 to give you a taste of what you are in for. Dates for each of the 4 dates are below.
October 4th – The Warfield Theatre, San Francisco
October 5th – The Palladium, Los Angeles
October 11th – Aragon Ballroom, Chicago
October 12th – Roseland Ballroom, New York City
Hip-Hop, Rap, Videos | Chance the Rapper – Acid Rap Live
Posted by J_Salzer on June 3, 2013
It takes a lot to leave a blogger speechless. So I’ll do my best to come up with words to describe the Austin Vesely filmed documentary of Chance The Rapper’s live performance. It begins with about 3 minutes Chance performing his normal routine. My favorite, is the emotional rendition of Chain Smoker. The tone of the video is quickly changed after Chance calls out some friends of his to perform the passionate second half of Pusha Man, the lost verse, if you will. In the lost verse, Chance implores the media to take a closer look at the inner city violence taking place in Chicago. He doesn’t go about it in a rude way, but rather takes a softer, more dignified approach to help save the city that raised him.
Chance the Rapper has had a whirlwind year, and is easily the hottest up and coming MC in the country, atleast in my opinion. The second half of Pusha Man shows me that this 20 year old Chicagoan won’t be going anywhere in the next decade, he’s here to stay. Some rappers mention their love for their city in songs, and that is all well and good. But this rapper is calling the media to make a change, and that’s rare. So hop on the Chance bandwagon while you still can.
Hip-Hop, Videos | Lucki Eck$ – Everything Out$ide
Posted by dshaq on June 3, 2013
“I could never get stained, I’m like your special outfit”
Lucki Eck$ is an emerging Chicago rapper that has a very interesting sound that blends an east coast and Chicago sound together. A very slow tempoed, clams casino-esque beat that allows Lucki to spit some very good wordplay over. A lot of promise from Lucki and the rest of the emerging rap scene in Chicago, so be on the lookout for more to come.
Events | Kaskade Announces Atmosphere Tour
Posted by Middy on May 30, 2013
Kaskade has eschewed the lengthy Freaks of Nature Tour he did last summer for his “Summer Lovin” residency at Marquee Las Vegas, and also took to the dark clubs of the US for a throwback “It’s You, It’s Me Redux” tour that both new and old fans alike came away absolutely floored. However, he has not forgotten the larger venues of the US and will do a small tour with large arenas later this fall throughout the mega-cities of the continental United States. He has the unique ability to play a long, deep set in a dark club, like he did on his Redux tour and then go out into the biggest arenas in the US and rock them, like he did to finish off the Freaks of Nature Tour at the Staples Center.
He will be hitting Miami, New York, Chicago and Los Angeles in the months of September and October, so if you are in those cities or near them, sharpie the date closest to you and make plans to see Kaksade on his Atmosphere Tour. Pre-sale tickets go on sale June 5th at 12pm local time and general public tickets go sale June 7th, same time. “Atmosphere” the album is coming in September.
Videos | Na Palm – Revival Road Tour Video Recap
Posted by CHAZZZ on May 15, 2013
If you couldn’t guess, Na Palm is one crazy dude. I’ve been lucky enough to see Nay live in Colorado and he brings more energy to the stage than most artists I’ve seen. He sent me an email with a tour recap video and I was super excited to see what this video had in store for me. As expected, the video is packed with wild footage of life on the road with Na Palm, his crazy fans and live footage from his recent shows. Make sure to keep an eye out for his new EP dropping soon and check out the insane line-up for the Spring Awakening Festival in Chicago (including Na Palm)!
House | Porter Robinson & Mat Zo – Easy (Remixes)
Posted by Middy on May 7, 2013
It was not only an eventful past few weeks for Mat Zo because of the release of the “Easy” remixes, deleting his twitter account, and also the widely publicized battering and stealing done to “Rebound” done by will.i.am and Chris Brown. He was known for not being afraid to speak his mind and saying controversial things, a welcome relief from the “OMG LAST NIGHT WAS AWESOME GUYS” tweets that riddle your newsfeed when you follow DJs, so he will be missed. The original has become an early year anthem and will stand the test of time as one of the great tracks from the two rising superstars. While the original will remain a favorite of mine for a very long time, the remixes assembled by Anjunabeats and Ministry of Sound are outstanding, calling on a wide variety of styles, from the drum n bass veteran Andy C, to the grungy electro remix of Botnek, and the smooth, techy “Bright as Day” remix from Modek. The last remix comes from Frenchman Lemaitre, a name that we have criminally neglected here at FNT (I am sorry), as his funky, french touch gives the track a whole new refreshing sound. Check both of them out on tour in North America at the following dates after the jump.
