813 comes through with another hot single for the Summer, with the sole purpose of feeling good day and night. I like the style of trap that 813 went with, kind of sounds like something Cashmere Cat would release. Awesome releases coming from 813 this Summer, I have a good feeling he will just keep his flow moving so keep an eye out for him.

Simon Shout announced a few months back that he was working on a side project that was something special, something different and we saw a few weeks ago the fruition of that hard work, Dinner Date. It is the deeper, less intense side of his sound that vibes with a lot of what we are seeing in the sort of counter-edm movement that has brought deep house into vogue and guys like Disclosure, Flume and Cashmere Cat so popular. In his second remix, he keeps the indie vibe of the original, with its playful guitar licks, while adding his own easy, deep, rolling bass line that does not overwhelm, but helps guide the track to its thoughtful conclusion. Also included is his previous remix. Be on the lookout for more Dinner Date, and put this on late night and let the soothing sounds carry you into a peaceful place.

Cashmere Cat, for reasons other than being a fellow cat lover, is one of my absolute favorites right meow. I’ve been a fan of everything he’s been putting out so I was even more stoked when I got to indulge in an entire hour of his sweet sounds on this episode of Diplo & Friends radio. He does an astounding job of bouncing (literally, check the mattress squeaking motif) from hip hop to hot beats to trap and experimental noises and manages to keep the listener engaged throughout. Some highlights include his own personal tracks, Mirror Maru (2:55) and Kiss Kiss (18:20), throwbacks like the Men in Black theme (34:40), and a witty surprise in the middle of Justin Timberlake’s Señorita (9:50).

This remix blew me away. Cashmere Cat did an incredible job because the fact is, this is straight sex. I mean the original is some fine R&B, but this takes things to the next level and then the bedroom.
