Progressive House, Trance | Introducing : Moiez

It is really rare that I get a submission that makes me sit back in my chair and say “wow” and 19 year old Vancouver native Moiez Babar or Moiez did just that. With a combination of uplfiting trance and moving progressive tracks, Moiez is an artist that will we will be keeping an eye on. Judging by the soundcloud plays, this is a true introduction to the world for Moiez and his deftly crafted productions, though he has had some exposure in Canada. The two originals really stood out to me with “Sparks” being more along the lines of progressive house track and “Kismet” being more of a progressive trance track. They were both submitted to Tristan Garner’s Xtra Life contest, so if you read this Mr. garner pick Moiez.
“Spark” provides thoughtful vocals with a smooth build that cascades into a break of thumping bass, vocals, and synth chords creating a hands in the air melody. “Kismet” is more trancey with a quicker trance oriented bass line, soft, thoughtful interludes, quick key play with long synth chords and a driving bass line in the drop. The remixes are not to overlooked as well. Though Axwell & Henrik B will always remain kings for their remode on “Teenage Crime”, Moiez delivers a solid take on it. “Flashback” keeps much of the original melody, though he distorts it some to create a more fluid synth melody, while utilizing those very recognizable vocals. “Till Tonight” may be the best one, though it takes a while to reach the break. Also included is a teaser of his “Let’s Go” remix, which is being featured in the Beatport contest. As the snow begins to fall here in Canada indie tends to fade from my playlist because of how summer oriented the sounds are. My sympathy goes out to you fortunate ones still occupying a warm climate, I feel your pain. After the positive response of last months Indie Thursday I took it upon myself to compile another collection of my favorite indie tracks of today. The more you like and comment on these indie posts equals the amount of energy I put into making them so feedback is nice.

It’s Saturday and the fuel to the fire has arrived for dispersal. A few hours ago I saw Avicii perform for the second time this week, a walk away from my place here in a little town known as Guelph ON, Canada. Both nights the ceiling was raining sweat. Avicii is the inspiration behind this continuous rampage of uplifting, cheery, sounds of happiness below. All these heaters are ready for lift off, they should obliterate all memory of tonight’s event by sunrise.

Anjulie has been taking Canada by storm with her single Brand New Bitch. Not only has this single garnered attention from music lover, but it has also managed to pique the interest of a number of notable producers. After a long wait, The Girls Can Hear Us has finally released their mixtape, “The AP“. For those of you that have been living under a rock, TGCHU is made up of Will Steep who raps over his own electro productions, and Mike Dunn who dj’s and mixed the tape. Both hail from London, Canada. Rather than being in a normal single track format, the whole tape is just one long 22 minute mix. That kind of makes it a pain to find the best tracks and appreciate each song, but I definitely recommend listening to the entire thing. I managed to get my hands on a couple individual tracks though thanks to Will. Show them some love on Facebook.

This bonus track off Tiesto’s Vegas Club Life (fittingly sponsored by Heineken) dropped about a week ago but somehow it managed to slip by us. Perhaps that’s because I was too busy attending his filthy shows. If you have an opportunity to see Tiesto live, do it. The six figure light show will blow your mind (Canada stand up – he’s touring in a neighborhood near you now). Shouts to 10Breeze for the tip. Like Avicii’s Amplitude track, this heater is begging for some vocals, mashup anyone?
