DJ-Set, Events, Progressive House | Avicii LE7ELS # 006 + US Tour
Posted by Middy on March 27, 2012
Avicii has released the 6th episode of what was supposed to be his monthly “LE7ELS” podcast today after spending the last 3 months feverishly touring. He commences the podcast with his own half hour of handpicked tracks, starting with his highly anticipated collaboration with Nicky Romero “Nicktim” and then moving through tracks such as “Troll”, “Calling (Lose My Mind) and Eric Prydz sublime remix of Midnight City. For the throwback track for the podcast he chooses the classic Axwell track “Feel The Vibe” with its funky bass line and groovy melody. Avicii & his manager Ash talk about various things ranging from their House For Hunger Tour to his upcoming tour dates including his live tour he will be premiering at Coachella and using all summer. Sebastian Ingrosso takes over for the second half hour with hits from SHM such as “Antidote” & “Greyhound”, as well as playing Michael Brun’s widely supported progressive bomb “Rise” and his upcoming collaboration with Alesso & Steve Angelo “Ecplise (Why Am I Doing This?). Overall a very solid mix with a good balance of electro and progressive house and not surprisingly a strong presence of Swedish producers. Tracklist after the jump.
Also if you have not already, get tickets for Avicii’s arena tour this summer where he will be doing a live show that Avicii has been hyping a lot. More info including dates HERE.
Events, Preview, Progressive House | Avicii – Last Dance (Preview) + US Tour
Posted by Middy on March 24, 2012
Last night Avicii premiered his upcoming single “Last Dance” previously known as “Somacho” on Pete Tong’s Essential Selection show. It is an old song from him so some of you may not be familiar with the track, but this is one to be reckoned with and is defintely different from the track he used to play out in late 2010, early 2011. This will be released “soon” on Warner Music. I hope this a start of a trend for Avicii to release the songs he has had lying around for years. Cannot be certain but with this track getting a release and his collaboration with Nicky Romero “Nicktim” (official preview below) getting set for release, we can hope he will be releasing some of those gems in that vault of Avicii tracks.
Avicii is coming back to the US this summer for as he says “His biggest tour yet”, going to the biggest arenas and stadiums all across the US. This tour will be something massive and you will not want to pass up the opportunity to see Avicii in this type of a venue. Tickets go on sale at 12pm on MONDAY, so get your cash in hand and be ready. Dates and more info after the jump.

Progressive House | Pixel Cheese – Elva (Original Mix)
Posted by Sev on March 12, 2012
Pixel Cheese is a producer out of Poland, who in the past was most well known for his bootlegs of unreleased house tracks. After gaining so much attention from those intriguing bootlegs of NERVO and Avicii he was signed to Ultra Records, where he just released his first track titled Elva. Surprisingly, this is one hell of a progressive house master work that starts off with some great snares into a dreamlike melody. Accompanied after by a pleasant Avicii style build up and progression into a thumping bassline and big room approached drop. Pixel Cheese certainly showing promise of bigger things to come and well deserved at that. The Beatport link is provided in the Soundcloud player below. To make sure you guys dont leave empty handed, Middy sent me this one of a kind bootleg that I felt was a refreshing interpretation to Sebastian Ingrosso & Alesso’s instrumental house anthem Calling. With the nice incoorporation of the vocals from Dubvision’s latest progressive track All By Myself, this bootleg brings the best of both worlds. Read on and take a listen to this well worked bootleg by Sean Johnson.
Alternative | Burial & Four Tet – Nova
Posted by W8 on March 6, 2012
I’m all ears when it comes to music. Sonically, there is nothing I wouldn’t consider worth my ears. I developed a passion for experimental music long ago, and watched it grow into the sensation it is today. When I caught the amount of attention this track was getting I had to take the opportunity to prove just that. Soundcloud wise, this record in one days time has more plays than Avicii’s hit Levels had managed to get in 4 months. If that doesn’t prove the rocketing of experimental music, what could.
Alternative, post-dubstep, experimental, however many labels you wish to name. There will always be artists that act as stubborn children in that their driven to produce what not only blurs the lines of genre but makes it absurd for you to even try and categorize in one. From the likes of Mount Kimbie, Jamie XX, Lapalux, Arthur Russell, Shlohmo and of course Burial and Four Tet, these are just a few of the many talents still left waiting for the masses to catch up with their past.
My public service announcement is as follows: Thanks goes out to the late great Steve Jobs for the creation of the iPod, making music no longer sonically racist in a time when you felt you had to fit into a particular genre like a pair of clothes and not dare dabble in any others. And thanks to the makers of Soundcloud for broadening our view of music into the sonic playground it is today. Records like Nova say more than words ever will, take a listen.
Progressive House | Afrojack & Shermanology – Can’t Stop Me (Club Mix)
Posted by Middy on January 23, 2012
This song is absolutely massive, like the size of the sun massive. The combination of vocals from Shermanology, who did vocals for “Blessed” with Avicii and have collaborated with Fedde le Grand, Chocolate Puma as well as Afrojack previously; have created a song that will be heard all around the world in clubs, cars, festivals and everywhere in between. Afrojack toned down the bleepy dutch house that we heard in “Lost & Found Vol. 2” and gave us an infectious, pitched, synth driven electro / progressive house instrumental that you cannot help but love and want to dance to. A subtle piano melody underneath the vocals in the build puts everything together in this song. Get this track on BEATPORT.
Mashups | TeeTs – WaterFalling In Love
Posted by GMONEY on January 10, 2012
After catching my ear with his epic mashup R3hab W3rks, Teets has continues to impress me with every new release. His latest mashup features Avicii’s remix to Drowning as the main thread and adds vocals from Adele, Krewella, Coldplay, Gaga and more into the mix.
