Mashups, Mix | DOSVEC – “A.D.D.” Radio Show Episode #4
Posted by BIGLIFE on June 12, 2013
The only Mashup Radio Show in America is really highlighting how different genres can come together and flow at 128bpm. “A.D.D.” isn’t just another mix show it is DOSVEC creating a 55 minute mix album every month. The way so many eras come together shows his creativity and not just focusing on one kind of sound.
The last song of Episode #4 is an Exclusive A Capella from Meiko’s “Bad Things”, the song currently used by Bravo to promote Real House Wives of NJ. Receiving material from original artists to be featured on “A.D.D.” will insure to keep the show fresh and never stale.
Electronic, House | Disclosure – Settle (Album Review)
Posted by Spice on June 12, 2013
These days, it’s hard to do much of anything on the internet without encountering heaps of reverential praise for the British brother-duo better known as Disclosure. They’ve become the de facto poster children for what’s cool in 2013 and have amassed a following that includes both hipster indie pop enthusiasts and their ravier twenty-something counterparts. Back in March, I remember perusing the calendar at one of my favorite clubs and noticing that they had sold out that upcoming Friday — the first Friday of the second weekend of Ultra, as it were. Not only did this not register with me at the time, but I didn’t even bother to catch them in Miami. Quelle folie. I am usually slow to warm up to bandwagon-y new groups, probably due to the fact that I am effectively a huge music snob in denial, but sometimes the hype becomes too great to overlook and bandwagons get harder and harder to ignore. In the case of Disclosure (and their now very considerable bandwagon), I can confirm that all the hype is utterly justified.
Electronic, Preview | Disclosure – You & Me (Flume Remix) [Preview]
Posted by Spice on June 11, 2013
If one thing in life is clear, it’s that Aussie producer Flume is on a roll right now. Remixing cool kids du jour Disclosure? Just another day at the office. “You & Me” is one of the catchiest tracks off of Disclosure’s recent album, but Flume manages to get away from the long shadow cast by the original to create something totally different. “Orchestral crunkwave” is the term used on his Soundcloud page — totally works for me.

Progressive House | Kaskade – Atmosphere
Posted by Middy on June 10, 2013
The lead single from his September artist album, “Atmosphere”, Kaskade takes us behind the curtain of what he has been doing on his elongated tour break over the winter / spring. This is not the deep house Kaskade of old that came to play on the “Its You, Its Me Redux Tour“, but rather the man ready for 2013 — with emotive, big room tracks prepped for the largest of venues. The vocals coupled with the slow and addictive melody make this something that you will be playing all week as you hum along “Of all the waves in your atmosphere”. To celebrate his album he will be going on an Atmosphere Tour, described as “Big Rooms, Small Tour”, later in the fall. Tickets are still on sale for the 4 cities, so if you have not gotten a ticket (I have), get on that now.

Hip-Hop | Wale — Poor Decisions (feat. Lupe Fiasco & Rick Ross)
Posted by jeffwbaird on June 3, 2013
Wale’s upcoming third album, The Gifted, is gearing up to be one of his most consistent projects to date. While his debut was uneven and burdened by too many crossover attempts, his second was too MMG-influenced and aggressive. The first three leaks we’ve received from this new album, though, have all had that soulful style of Wale’s, which was the signature of his successful early mixtapes. This is the first of two new singles Wale dropped today in preparation for his album’s June 25th release, featuring a smooth Jake One beat and a couple quality guest verses courtesy of Lupe Fiasco and Rick Ross. Gotta love Lupe’s “olly olly oxen free” reference and the way he flips the chorus at the end, and Rozay’s verse isn’t half bad, either. June is shaping up to be a wonderful month for hip-hop.
