Ah, beautiful girls and beautiful music, can it get any better? I’m sure most of you are shaking your heads while you read this so I’ll just pretend I can see you and get on with my post. Even though this video/track is about a month old, it was scarcely seen on the blogosphere due to unknown reasons, so let FNT be the ones to introduce you to singer/songwriter Connor Zwetsch. Connor hails from my hometown, Tampa, and has recently moved out to LA to pursue her singing endeavors. Admittedly, the video quality here isn’t what we’re used to seeing, but the music makes up for it. Connor’s gorgeous voice and enchanting looks have captivated me, and I hope she captivates you too. Avicii why? You have such a gem of a track here and you ruin the full potential of the track by adding vocals to the break. However, it is great to see that this is finally on the path to getting a release. While the gorgeous melody crafted by Avicii still remains prominent, I cannot help but feel that the break would be better if Avicii’s artistry stood alone and was not competing with Eric Turner’s vocals. That being said, this is going to be a massive hit, there is no arguing that. Hopefully this will come with a dub version or the version he plays out, “Avicii’s Been Cursed Mix” when it is released soon on Capitol Records to satisfy all his fans and make a more club friendly track.

I’ll get the bad out of the way first: the drop in this clip is pretty underwhelming. I had insanely high hopes when I saw that these two were collaborating and let’s just say that my expectations were not fully met. But now the good: the build prior to the drop is amazing, and this preview is short, so who knows what else “Human” might have in store? The vocals are excellent and it’s clear that Nicky Romero and Zedd are bringing the top quality production skills that we’ve all grown accustomed to seeing in their work over the past year, so I look forward to hearing this in full when it drops (update: as part of Zedd’s hotly-anticipated Spectrum EP) on July 31. Fingers crossed that they’re purposely denying us the best that this collabo has to offer…
Preview, Trance | Zedd – Spectrum (Arty Remix)

Just when you thought the body of “Spectrum” remixes had reached critical mass, Arty swoops in and changes the game. This might be my favorite of the bunch — I’ve already professed my love for Armin’s treatment, but that seems almost conservative in comparison to what the young Russian producer has done here. Arty has accomplished the impressive feat of totally rerouting Zedd’s anthemic track, layering in eerily mesmerizing chords and bright, punchy synth bursts that manage to give this summer favorite a completely new and different tenor. In short, this is amazing in its own right. Unfortunately, we’re stuck waiting until July 31st for a hiqh quality download — that’s when the full Spectrum EP is set to drop.
Preview, Trance | Zedd Feat. Matthew Koma – Spectrum (Armin Van Buuren Remix) [Preview]

Well. So much for that Beatport competition.
Armin debuted this yesterday on ASOT (sidenote: did anyone have any idea he even had this thing in the works? Sneaky bastard) and when I learned of this fact I was so overcome with the potential awesomeness of such a musical coupling that I had to excuse myself and think of less exciting things, like Japanese proverbs and the technical science underpinning the Higgs boson. As a matter of fact, those physicists might have gotten it wrong — this remix might actually be the Higgs boson. I don’t know. All I know is that 1) “Spectrum” was already an absolutely incredible song and 2) there’s pretty much no conceiveable way for Matthew Koma’s vocals not to complement Armin’s lush soundscapes wonderfully.
And let’s just say that AVB delivers. He masterfully augments the emotional moments in “Spectrum,” bringing us to blissful crest after blissful crest before shifting seamlessly into pure, feel-good trance. I do love the original, but I’ve always found Zedd’s synths after the drop to feel a bit incongruous and choppy after the smooth, chromatic verse and chorus. This to me is perfection. No word on a release date yet but you’d better believe that I’ll be first in line when it drops.

Tom Fall is one the biggest rising names in trance. If there had to be two guys who have truely exploded onto the scene this year, it would have to be him and Heatbeat, the Argentine duo. Tom Fall has been tagged for some of the most illustrious remixes throughout the year and has developed a reputation as a superior trance Dj who is not afraid to try new things. “Irok” is a perfect example of that, incorporating the massive pack that Nicky Romero made famous in “Toulouse” and bringing it into the trance fold with strong electro house influences. It is the type of track that anyone can like and appreciate and because of that Djs of all genres play it from Tritonal to Armin to Hardwell play this regularly and this track consistently gets one of the best reactions in a set. Also his remix of Armin van Buuren’s anthem “J’ai Envie de Toi” is set to release July 16th so be on the lookout for that; preview after the jump. Also is a great bootleg that uses the vocal bit from Gregori Klosman – Minibar, as well as the anthem of the year “In My Mind” with the above described “Irok”. Very well fused and mixed together.
