Pop music goes tropical, with live instruments and all, thanks to Cheat Codes with their latest “Adventure,” a tune more exciting than all of Kygo’s originals put together, just don’t tell the Norwegian producer I said that, all love to the man! There’s no question that the best pop music comes from Sweden, and Cape Lion are proof of this with their latest “Called You Mine” released under Sony Records. Reminiscent of St Lucia’ sound, this one’s for all you sensitive people, who like a chill synth pop record with your Spring time! You’re probably not familiar with Mikey Mike, however, the small town Maryland native turned LA city kid has already earned himself a credit producing on Rihanna’s album as well as other notable names. As he begins the journey in to his own solo work, Mikey has already made some promising first steps.
“Cut My Hair” is simple yet infectious and shows the goofy, eccentric side of Mikey’s character. However, Mikey doesn’t want it to be misinterpreted as trivial: “It’s simple and playful, but still rooted in something very real. I played it for this girl and she was like ‘aw neat! a song about getting stoned and getting a haircut’ and I was like ‘no the songs about being touched, it’s about love, woman!”
When asked about his music as a whole he replied, “I like to think my songs are kind of like having sex with a high-end escort. There’s not a lot of bullshit, small talk, or fondling, we just get right to it. But, the shit is still pretty good, ya know?”
