Pop | Dylan Reese & Zak Downtown Deliver Radio Quality Pop Single, Inbetween

Posted by on July 2, 2017

“I don’t want to fall in love” is what this record states in the opening line of the hook, but after one listen it is far too easy to fall in love. In what proves to be one of the most relateable records for any 20-something year old, “Inbetween” tells the story of not wanting a one night stand, but not being tied down either. After pop/R&B singer Dylan Reese sets up the framework for the record with the hook hitting some impressive falsettos, the innocence of this record comes to life with a verse from New York native Zak Downtown. Downtown’s confidence is oozing on this verse, bringing the listener back to a time all have experienced, deciding if you’re in love or simply in lust.

Chill, Pop | Carter Reeves Gets Your Ears Wet with Addicting Summer Jam Aquarium

Carter Reeves proclaims “we’re way too young to get hooked”, but apparently he hadn’t finished writing his latest offering ‘Aquarium’ when he penned that line. The new single from Reeves is as refreshing as it gets the Friday of Fourth of July weekend. With synths that get your body moving, drums that gets your head bobbing and medleys that have you vibing as each verse progresses it is safe to say that this is going to be the addicting record being played near any body of water this weekend that will have people asking, “Wait, who is this? This is amazing.”

Reeves is no stranger to bringing the vibes as former half of the reggae/pop/hip hop duo Aer who were known for their ability to bring the vibes and be great background music essential for any good time. Carter is fresh off his debut EP Fresh Fruit, which is as smooth as it comes, and Aquarium proves that Reeves not only knows how to bring the vibes, but knows how to make a hit. This record is radio quality.

Pop | Pop Princess Taylor Grey Releases Debut LP Space Case

Posted by on June 20, 2017

Pop music is all over the place nowadays, but Taylor Grey is ringing it in with her vision of where the all encompassing “pop” genre can go. She’s recently delivered her debut LP, Space Case, with a dozen songs on the tracklist. The album take influence from a wide range of genres, but hones in one the pop meets dance music sound that so many people are trying to nail nowadays. Taylor is one of the few really nailing it though. I can’t remember the last time I ran through an entire pop album like this, but I did. Call it a guilty pleasure – whatever you deem it, it’s a good one.

Popstars don’t come around often, or at least convey the authenticity of being a popstar, as opposed to being an amateur in a costume, but Sophia Ayana fits that mold, short of calling her Jennifer Lopez and Rihanna’s love child. Her debut single “If I Had Your Love” out on Sony Music is a summer jam, with island vibes that will have you grooving. It’s hot, no other way to put it. Press play, and get lost to the music!

Discover Pegah, the talented Danish vocalist and her sophomore single “1985,” a progressive pop record that I’ve had on repeat for the past 30 minutes, and I’m completely enchanted, and enthralled. “1985” is an anthem of a generation, and we’re getting old. With the Summer weather settling in, add this one to your Spotify playlist, if there was song that made me want to get a convertible, with some cool shades to vibe to, it’d be this one. you’re going to catch yourself cruising. This is a must listen and a beautiful find!

Pop | Jacob Banks’s “Chainsmoking” Single Is Going To Be A Hit

Posted by on May 22, 2017

There’s mainstream music. Then there’s Jacob Banks. Releasing on Interscope records, “Chainsmoking” got put on our radar by tastemaker ItsNoRequests, and we can’t stop hitting repeat. Already seeing early support from large Youtube channels like Proximity, “Chainsmoking” has less than 1,000 plays on Spotify at the moment but we see that changing very soon. It’s one of those crossover records that could be absolutely massive. Cash this check: Jacob Banks is going to be a real big star.

Did I mention the live version in Austin, Texas is even better?

Rumor on the street is Crankdat has some original music coming out this summer. It’s been a minute since he’s dropped an original record so we hope this rumor is true. Until then, it looks like he’ll be building upon his already strong momentum with official remixes like his latest. He takes Gryffin & Illenium’s massive “Feel Good” collaboration featuring Daya to new heights with his explosive, melodic rework. Gryffin first teased the track at Coachella by closing out each of his performances with it. The result? The crowd went wild. It’s been a pleasure watching this young producer climb his way to the top and once he starts dishing out those originals, we can only imagine how his popularity will skyrocket.
