House, Mainstream Remix, Mashups | Leona Lewis – Collide (Afrojack Festival Remix)
Posted by Juicebox on July 19, 2011
Originally wasn’t going to post this, but as much as I hate the fact Afrojack remixed Leona’s version; it’s a dirrtyy remix. If you’re still not up to speed on the whole Avicii vs. Leona Lewis case, check out the article we wrote earlier this week here. Judging by Afrojack’s tweets, it seems like Afrojack’s a tad jealous of Avicii’s recent fame and therefore supporting Leona on the case…after the tweets pictured above he went on to tweet congratulations to “@Leonalewismusic. Pretttttyy damn sure he should have a fellow DJ’s back in this case over Leona’s Lewis’s and pretttyyy damn sure he wouldn’t be feeling the same way if he was in Avicii’s shoes. So uh Afrojack, sick song but uh, karma’s coming at you like this ice cream truck…all day #teamavicii.

Mashups | Basic Physics – Illmerican Dancer (Wolfgang Gartner // Avicii // Sofi)
Posted by GMONEY on July 18, 2011
The lastest from Basic Physics features a blend of Wolfgang Gartner’s “Illmerica” and Avicii’s “Street Dancer.” Other samples include Sofi, Skrillex, Porter Robinson. The track gives a different feel to each track, especially at the 2:15 mark when Illmerican Dancer takes on a more dub-step feel. From start to finish, build up to drop, Illmerican Dancer is a fresh new take on a couple classic tracks.

Mashups | 3LAU – Yacht Week In America | MASHUP
Posted by Juicebox on July 17, 2011
3LAU an upcoming mashup/house producer/DJ from New York got a jump start on his career by being featured on Kap Slap’s mixtape, Audio Appropriation. The production and precision featured in his mashups are textbook quality. Mark my words, this guy will be a big name in at most a year from now. When 3LAU sent us a message asking us to post his latest mashup, we expected straight fire. 3LAU did not dissapoint.
“Yacht Week In America” features the following songs: Top Of The World – Joe Garston, Miami To Atlanta – Pryda, Do It In the AM – Frankmusik (Lucky Date Remix), Leave The World Behind – SHM & LBL, TGIF – Katy Perry, Wet – Snoop Dog, Move For Me – Kaskade, Under The Sheets – Ellie Goulding, and Where Dem Girls At – David Guetta.

House, Mainstream Remix, Mashups | Avicii & Leona Lewis Controversy Over “Fade Into Darkness”
Posted by Juicebox on July 17, 2011
Sounds familiar right? Alright so here’s the situation. Everyone and their mother not only had Avicii’s essential mix on repeat during finals, but also couldn’t get enough of that addictive melody featured in “Penguin”. A leak we posted a few days ago entitled “Fade Into Darkness,” surfaced featuring a vocal piece over Penguin’s infectious melody. However, yesterday, a Leona Lewis single entitled “Collide” leaked featuring pretty much the same exact instrumental found on “Fade Into Darkness.” Let the confusion begin…
The Origin:
To keep things easy, let’s start with the origin of the track. The Penguin Café Orchestra was a group of elite performing musicians originally formed by British guitarist Simon Jeffres. The Penguin Café wrote a song called, “Perpetuum Mobile” (posted below) that Avicii clearly sampled in his latest single.
The Penguin Cafe Orchestra – Perpetuum Mobile
The Confusion:
Apparently the original sample was offered to both Avicii’s team and Leona’s…however, SyCo (Leona’s label headed by Simon Cowell) was informed the song would be Avicii’s next single and was no longer available. Yet, yesterday, Leona Lewis put out her new summer single, which is pretty much an identical copy of “Fade Into Darkness.” However, the production side for Leona Lewis’s track was provided by Sandy Vee, most famous for production on Rihanna’s Only Girl and David Guetta’s Where Them Girls At. This obviously resulted in a lot of confusion and tension. Avicii’s label, Ministry of Sound is obviously accusing SyCo of plagiarizing their track, yet Simon Cowell is disregarding any claims and still pushing to have the official release asap. I clearly support Avicii as he has been playing this track in all of his sets, including his EDC set, and Radio One has been playing it since back in December. Leona Lewis’s camp had to of known this, yet they still continued production of the track. Whether they had the official rights to it or not (which is still unclear and will probably be settled in court) I think that fact that Avicii has had it previewing on the radio for 6 months now, while Leona first previewed it this week stands above anything.
Here’s what Avicii’s team tweeted –
Avicii’s management – “We never got to hear the track before it was promoed on radio, how could we clear anything? We’re not amateurs – we don’t sign papers without knowing what [we’re] getting into.” – Ash Pournouri, Manager and Executive Producer of Avicii
Avicii’s Tweets
“To be clear im not taking credit for the melody (everything was cleared with penguin cafe orchestra and simon jeffes who wrote the song)”
He goes on to explain that he’s just upset someone else took credit for the song before they released it. Especially because of how much time his label and himself put into it.
Show your support and join Team Avicii
Finally…Kap Slap went ahead and mashed the vocals of the two tracks together which turned out pretty cool and shows how similar these two songs really are. Sorry Leona, I’m on Avicii’s side.

Mashups | Mr. Rogers Productions – Waka A La Playa
Posted by GMONEY on July 16, 2011
Before remixing was all the rage and the good old Butler was just a college freshman, Vamos A La Playa capped a party that included skiing down staircases, a few over-the-top urination stories, and some babes getting naked (nah, not really). Anyway, this is a dope mashup by Mr. Rodgers. It sounded good today.
Mashups | Steve Mits and Styles & Complete

I couldn’t find any cool mashup pictures, but then I came across this and couldn’t resist haha. The two mashups are a real treat. The first one sounds amazing, the vocals mixed up almost perfectly. The second track is one of the best dubstep mashups, I would consider it second to 5 & A Dime’s “Skrillmau5.” Second because lets face it, 5 & A Dime out did himself on that mashup.

Electro, House, Mashups, Preview | Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Romain G, Dillon Francis
Posted by Middy on July 14, 2011
If you haven’t heard this song yet, well get to know this because this will be a staple in every DJ set when it releases. The next song by Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike is a great song with an amazing bass line and some solid synths. This is just a great follow up to their smash Madagascar and the vocals are for all of us, “This generation rules the nation”.

The next song is an amazing bootleg by Romain G. It takes Dada Life’s tomorrow with Alesso’s Nillionaire and puts the classic vocals of Just be over them. It just flows so well to create a great house bootleg.

This is not a brand new Dillon Francis song, but I didn’t give it the proper listen and more I listen, the more I like it. It is not his heavier electro or his dubstep, but it is still a great song, especially for nice summer day outside.
