Events, Review | Paris & Simo @ Lavo NYC 7/27/13 (Review)

Paris & Simo LAvo NYC

Anybody familiar with high-end nightlife in NYC, knows Lavo and its reputation for an incredibly strict door, good-looking patrons, over-priced drinks and top-line DJs. There are plenty of places in NYC with the first three, but few have added the last one to their repertoire.

On this particular night, I was a bit sluggish from getting home from a rather aggressive night of drinking with Moiez the night before, thus I was hoping Paris & Simo would bring it to keep me going. After quickly crushing a Red Bull at a nearby Duane Reed, a walked down the familiar block of 58th in between Park & Madison, seeing drunk dudes and chicks spilling out of cabs and town cars, yelling at each other as if their hearing was already gone before they made their way into the proper line. Navigating the line is an art, pushing your way through entitled VIPs and b-rate models, just hoping to be seen by somebody, it is your job to be noticed in the mixture of plastic…. and plastic.

Events | Size In The Park Expands to 2 Days, Tickets Now On Sale

Posted by on August 6, 2013

After a successful, but rainy and quiet debut to Size in the Park last year, Steve Angello’s Size Matters returns to Central Park in New York City for a second year. This time they have expanded from just one day, to almost a two day festival format. No word on the lineup yet, but I would be willing to bet that it would be some people from Size. Just a shot in the dark, not totally sure though.

Going for the outdoor gig in late September is a bold maneuver because it could get pretty cold at night, especially if it is rainy, but bold choices can pay off. More info at the Size In The Park website here. Tickets are on sale now a few days early, though pre-sale tickets sold out in the blink of an eye.

Events, Progressive House | Vicetone – Tremble

Posted by on August 5, 2013

Vicetone - TrembleVicetone caught the attention of the internet almost immediately, and a lot of big name DJs right after, but none as strongly as Nicky Romero. They have done label releases before, such as “Stars”, but none as big as this, as they make their label debut on their new home, Protocol Recordings. The Dutch duo take a page out of label boss, Nicky Romero’s playbook with the emotive, string-led interlude, surrounded by their powerful guitar-like synths that really give the track that Vicetone flavor. Right after E Zoo, they will be touring North America with Nicky Romero on his “Nothing Toulouse” tour, which you can find the dates after the jump. Tickets are on sale here.

Events, Review | Bright Nites: Adrian Lux & Audien & Webster Hall 7/20/13 (Review)

Adrian Lux Webster Hall 3

Capping off of one of the hottest weeks of the year in the metropolitan area, a couple thousand ravers packed into Webster Hall to see the talents of Audien, Adrian Lux and Mysto & Pizzi. It had been close to 100 degrees every day (nothing for most of you down south), but this is a crisis in the Northeast, causing it to be a sweltering temperature inside, especially if you were totally packed in with people around you. Unfortunately, or fortunately, the venue was sold out and in classic Webster Hall fashion, it was a hot, grimy, sweaty night that did not let up until the very last dripping body had left and the last booming thud of bass had echoed through its halls.
