Grammy nominated all-star writer, producer and rapper Bei Maejor just released his latest free project, MaejorMaejor, hosted by DJ Ill Will & DJ Rockstar. I haven’t had the chance to listen to this all of the way through, but judging from his impeccable track record, I am sure that this is a mixtape you wont want to miss. The tape features a cut from Sam Adams, who we haven’t heard from in a minute…although a little birdie told me he is dropping an epic electo-hop heater right here on FNT later tonight.

Dubstep, Mixtapes | Bassnectar – Colorstorm Mixtape

Bassnectar is the king right now. His album,”Divergent Spectrum,” destroyed charts, and was a huge step forward for dubstep. At his show last night in San Diego, he gave out a secret link to this mixtape, which is supposed to drop this tuesday. It is a mix of a few of his older tracks, remixed and mashed, including a few new tracks, and even a few tracks from artists he works with. I also find it funny that Bassnectar just dropped a zip of 11 tracks compiled that he has previously released free. You can grab that one Here on Bassnectar’s website. Best part is the fact that Excision‘s new ‘album’ drops tomorrow, and it is amazing. Only proving Bassnectar as king of dubstep.

The ever so mysterious Abel Tesfaye, better known as The Weeknd, fulfilled yesterday’s rumors that he would be releasing a mixtape today. Wale exceeded my expectations with this project. Having spent a considerable amount of time in the DMV, I was introduced to Wale at an early age and, of course, was surrounded by fellow fans. When I went off to different areas I realized his music wasn’t as well received as I had previously thought. In a way, Wale was stuck somewhere between a C and B list artist. Now that he’s signed to the hotter than ever Maybach Music group, I think he’ll be able to solidify his B position. As I mentioned above, The Eleven One Eleven Theory is an impressive project that our fans should dig; it’s packed with catchy samples and fresh bars. If you like Wiz, chances are, you’ll feel this. I gotta be honest here guys, I rarely find myself listening to R&B. Its not that I don’t like it, its just that in a world filled with electro heaters, and hard hitting hip-hop, its hard to slow down and give R&B tracks the time to grow on me. Well Mateo managed to do just that, and I think that it has a lot to do with his musical approach:
My style is like R&B with Soul in it. A lot of R&B is just singing over Hip-Hop beats but I want to build on that and take it to another level. I want to add some piano keys over the beats and add something melodic to it. My style is like if you played Coldplay over break beats. – Mateo
