Hip-Hop, Mixtapes | Jetpack Jones – Reincarnation (Mixtape)
Posted by dshaq on January 19, 2012
I might be a little late on putting this one up but I’d be silly not to. Jetpack Jones hits us with a solid 13 track mixtape, supplying a good flow and going in over quality produced beats. Although there are a lot of short songs they still hit hard. For example, “Marcel” is just 1:26 but that beat and the meaning behind the lyrics, which are about his little brother, make it worthwhile. Go over and like his Facebook Page, and make sure you check back for more Jetpack.

Hip-Hop, Mixtapes | Mod Sun – First Take: The Acoustic Sessions
Posted by LoffyG on January 19, 2012
Mod Sun just released his most recent project, First Take: The Acoustic Sessions. He recorded this entire project in one night, all the songs are recorded on the first take without any effects. Pat Brown is playing the guitar and singing some of the hooks, while Mod Sun lays the verses. This is a nice acoustic compilation of some of his previous songs. I like these versions because you can really listen to the detail in the lyrics he’s written. The project definitely portrays the artist that Mod Sun is, whether it be his lyrics or painting his own cover art. Leave some feedback and follow Mod Sun on Twitter!

Hip-Hop, Mixtapes | T.I. ft. Dr. Dre – Popped Off
Posted by Grubeats on January 17, 2012
This new track from T.I. featuring Dr. Beats surfaced back on the first of the month when T.I. dropped his new mixtape, F*ck Da City Up. Paying no mind to the tape, I didn’t realize the jailbird had been released from prison for long enough to put together a decent project. Apparently I was wrong. I haven’t had a chance to listen to the full project yet, but this cut featuring a dope verse and production by Dre is a breath of fresh air. Still can’t say I’m convinced Detox will ever come.

Hip-Hop, Mixtapes | OCD: Moosh & Twist – The Vestibule (Mixtape)
Posted by dshaq on January 13, 2012
Very impressive tape from Moosh & Twist. The Philly duo just dropped this today, and man is it a good one. Even though it’s short, Moosh and Twist bring the fire on every single song. The tape is filled with more laid back beats. I’m expecting big things from these guys, especially with stuff like this. Hit them up on Facebook and enjoy the tape.
Hip-Hop, Mixtapes | Rick Ross – Rich Forever (Mixtape)
Posted by GMONEY on January 6, 2012
Earlier today, Rick Ross dropped his highly, and I mean highly, anticipated mixtape (that looks more like an actual album) on the blogosphere. We had trouble finding a reliable link, since the site that paid over $100,000 just to host it, crashed due to traffic. I guess they didn’t make a return on their investment. Not Bawse. The mixtape contains 18 full-length tracks and features the likes of Nas, Drake, and Pharrell. Producers include Justice League, Lex Luger, and The Inkredibles. The mixtape is a monster. I’m not even trying to hype it up. It’s straight heat. I never get excited about mixtapes. Rick Ross is hands down the hottest rapper in the world right now. Believe that. *Birmdan hand rub*. Hit the jump for the tracklist.

Mixtapes | The Weeknd- Echoes of Silence (Mixtape)
Posted by GMONEY on December 22, 2011
I don’t know what it is, but the Weeknd makes that driving into a retainer wall at 3 A.M. in the morning type of music. It’s dark, it’s moody, it’s drug inspired. For a man that still hasn’t granted one interview, industry chatter is understandably high. Rumors have been circulating that Diddy offered him 2 million to sign, and he turned it down. Just a few days ago, we heard that the Weeknd signed with an outside investor for 11 million.
Although we certainly admire the Weeknd, it doesn’t seem entirely plausible to us. Don’t get us wrong, the Weeknd is one of our favorite artists right now. However, The Weeknd makes music that you would likely never find on the radio. He’s not interested in making mainstream hits. That’s just not his lane. If he really was signed for 11 million, then I don’t see how the investor could make a return on his profit. What do I know though. I’m sitting here blogging in my underwear eating oreos at 10 AM.

Hip-Hop, Mixtapes | Asher Roth – Pabst & Jazz

The “Pabst & Jazz” Sessions are finally here and just in time for the holidays. Asher Roth released the mixtape late last night after his show debuting the tracks in Chicago. The whole mixtape is dope beats and dope rhymes and definitely worth the download.
