Moombahton | Vato Gonzalez & Diplo – Rasclat Riddim

Posted by on March 15, 2012

Diplo and Vato Gonzalez teamed up for this Moombahton original given away for free to be rinsed during SXSW and UMF. You never know what to expect from Diplo, this guy is all over the place with his music. I was surprised when I first heard this track because I wasn’t expecting much and the title had me thinking it was going to be more of a reggae influenced track. Nevertheless a Moombah banger emerged from this collaboration and right in time for the festival season as well.

Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Electro, Moombahton | OWSLA Presents FREE Treats Vol. 2

Posted by on March 13, 2012

The big day has finally arrived and OWSLA’s Free Treats Vol.2 is now out. I’m going to go ahead and say personally I was dissapointed at first, while others felt the compilation was up to par. I’m not saying every track on this compilation isn’t as appealing as I thought it was going to be, but for the most part I was let down for the number of tracks that are on this release. Free music is free music though and I won’t complain about that and there are tracks on here that deserve recognition. My overall favorite on the release is without a doubt Flinch & Jamtech Foundation – Bad Boy. I have said it before and I will say it again, reggae with dubstep is a killer combination. The Moombahton representers, Munchi and Sazon Booya, definitely nailed their tracks bringing the lasers and the heavy steel drums. When I saw Koan Sound and Alvin Risk’s names on the track list I had a feeling they would not disappoint. Koan Sound definitely didn’t, but I was a little disheartened by Alvin Risk’s melodic approach on his track. After listening to it a few times though, I got over it and could appreciate the uniqueness incorporated into constructing the track and not just releasing his usual expected laser synth filled Moombah tracks, altohugh that would have been nice. The last honorable mentions goes to Plastician’s Deep Dubstep track and Bare Noize & Zardonic’s Drum and Bass track. The wait still continues for something new from Skrillex. The compilation is free so follow the Beatport link below and grab your free download.

Benzi & Black Cards have teamed up with Karmaloop & Moodswing to drop their upcoming SXSW mixtape, due to be released on March 12th. The first leak off the tape is a moohbahton remix of Mike Posner’s “Looks Like Sex” from Aylen and Drunkmaster Flex, which is an absolute banger. The remix is just one of many super jams on the upcoming SXSW mixtape, which will include exclusives from Steve Aoki, Diplo, Outasight, Skeet Skeet, The Cataracs, A-Trak, Iggy Azaela, Clinton Sparks and many others.

Moombahton | Bro Safari – Bros Gone Wild EP

Posted by on March 8, 2012

One of the top artist in Moombahton, Bro Safari, has released his newest EP “Bros Gone Wild”. From the eye catching artwork to his unique interpretation on Moombahon, this EP is a definite must have. The EP pushes the bounds of a new style of music, because what you thought was Moombahton before you heard this EP will make you reconsider. I can’t say that I have a favorite on this EP because they are all equally diverse and appealing, but if I had to choose it would be Avalon (feat. LeDoom). The track starts off nice and smooth with a latin feeling drum and sliced vocals that slowly progresses into a ruff sounding synth Moombahton drop with a dope bounce feel to the track. This EP isn’t what you are used to hearing, but it is definitely worth the listen. Grab it on Beatport HERE.

As an added bonus this dope remix he did for Treasure Fingers was given away for Free on the same day his EP released. Grab the download in the Soundcloud description.

Nine downloads? That doesn’t seem right, because this track is the t*ts. Ya I had to go there because these guys went all out on this Moombah drop. Recommend all Moombah fans download this one.

OOAH, as most of you probably don’t know, is 1/3 of Glich Mob and 1/2 of PANTyRAiD. Giving away this nice freebie Moombah style bass music on Sunday that isn’t quite as heavy as the previous track. The track build’s up nicely with little hints of a laser synth drop on the horizon. Really feeling the new bass music movement going on lately. STRAIGHT TO THE BACK by OOAH

If anyone needs a new 30 minute Moombah mix to jam out to over spring break, look no further. We have posted a few of DJ Bent’s Moombah remixes before, but this mix is filled with banger after banger. Featuring a few of his tracks as well as bangers from all the big names in Moombah.

Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Moombahton | Noisia – Split the Atom (Special Edition)

Posted by on February 29, 2012

I don’t know where to even begin with Noisia’s latest massive album release. This is easily one of the biggest releases of the year by far with remixes from many of the big names across EDM. I had to take a few days to listen to each track multiple times to actually realize the quality of each and every remix. Starting from Kito’s highly anticipated Split The Atom remix which is amazing in so many aspects. To Kill The Noise’s vicious DnB remix of Diplodocus which even caught Deadmau5 off guard. This track got 80,000+ plays in 12 hours; that is extraordinary. One remix that I think isn’t receiving the respect is should is, Munchi’s Tommy’s Theme remix. Munchi takes this well orchestrated track from Noisia, and almost creates a new genre of music through this one remix. In a recent interview I saw Munchi talking about how he has been tampering with a new genre entitled Skull-step, but wasn’t ready to actually make a track in the genre yet. Well I would have to say if there was any track on this album that came close to sounding evil or skull like, it would have to be this one. How can anyone forget 16 bit’s remix that has been on everyones waiting list for over a year now. I don’t want to go through all the remixes and talk about how amazing and unique they are because that would take me all day. I recommend everyone listen through each track, because I am almost certain there is something in there to appeal to everyone.

Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Moombahton, Review | Emalkay – Flesh & Bone (Remixes)

Posted by on February 28, 2012

I wanted to take a day after this released to listen a bit more to these remixes. Emalkay are amazing, but this package contained some lesser names and I really wanted to be sure about posting them. Turns out I am in love with every remix on this, and picking one favorite is very difficult to do. The original track is cool reggae vibed drum & bass, a feel I have really been getting into as of late. The first remix on this happened to end up being my favorite, The Others kept the parts I loved about the original and added a sweet dubstep drop. When it came to picking my favorite out the 3 remixes, Delta Heavy’s remix was almost tied with The Others. Delta Heavy went with a drumstep remix, and really took off with the drum beat which sounds incredible. Beatport confused me, they have the entire remix EP labeled as dubstep, but clearly Dismantel went with a sexy moombahton remix that I don’t think anyone would mind hearing on the dance floor. All in all I really enjoyed listening to these remixes.
