Hip-Hop, Rap | Ace Cosgrove – Long Kiss of Death (ft. Uno Hype)
Posted by admin on November 3, 2013
The DMV is next up. We’ve seen cities emerge this past year and show off their stars, but really and truly, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia is blossoming with so much talent that it is becoming impossible to ignore. At the forefront of the movement is the Hostile Youth clan.
Today I bring to you an offering from two of the Hostile Youth members, Ace Cosgrove and Uno Hype. The duo delivers a eerie track with a hint of jazz, perfect for your post-halloween festivities. The song clocks in at only 2 minutes, meaning there will hopefully be plenty more collaboration in the near future.
Hip-Hop, Rap | GoldLink – Creep
Posted by admin on October 24, 2013
It’s been a minute (or three) since we’ve last seen GoldLink. The VA resident tore the internet down with his Kaytranada remix of “On&On”, but has since been quiet, plotting his next move. It appears that the next move has been made, and in the wake of the new TLC album and movie, GoldLink has unleashed a smashing remix of hit song, “Creep”.
This young emcee has a knack for calling out those who wronged or challenged him, and it seems that “Creep” is a reconciliation of just about every mishap relationship he’s had over the past few years.
The soulful melody, and old-school vibe is a bit of a different style for GoldLink, but he manages to hold his own and pay the necessary respect within the song. Enjoy and download for free below, and be sure to follow GoldLink on twitter to keep up.
Bootleg, Electro | Danny Brown – Dip (Ghost Hunna Bootleg)
Posted by admin on October 24, 2013
Some of you probably remember a few weeks back when I unleashed “Look Out!” to the FNT readers, a bass-heavy medley from NYC producer, Ghost Hunna. Well, Yung Hunna -no affiliation to Yung Humma– has returned to blow our minds once more.
This go-round Hunna steers away from his original production and hops aboard Danny Brown’s eccentric, “Dip”, in an attempt to make it even more outlandish. And, folks, he accomplished the impossible. The only element which you should expect in this bootleg is the element which you least expected. “Dip” is all across the board, complete with broken chords and a pounding UK-style bass line perfect for the club, car, or kitchen.
Chill, Hip-Hop, Rap, RnB | Scolla – Peace
Posted by admin on October 22, 2013
Clocking in at two minutes, thirty-two seconds, my initial reaction to Scolla’s “Peace” was: “I want more!” The soulful hip-hop track pulls you in with soothing vocals that you hope never leave your ears, and keeps you interested when Scolla’s deep and choppy verse appears.
Like many of us, Scolla asks for peace and love. A message clearly reflected in his music within the subtle tones and gentle lyrics. I highly recommend giving “Peace” a listen, as well as perusing the rest of Scolla’s RLES crew. The album OG Cool is on the way, so be sure to check back in for that.
Enjoy!
Alternative, RnB | Joel Compass – Run (Video)
Posted by admin on October 18, 2013
This is the latest release from the newest Photo Finish artist Joel Compass – the video for his newest single, “Run”, was released a few days ago via Vevo. “Run” is the lead single from Joel’s forthcoming LP, tentatively scheduled for release during the first quarter of 2014. “Run” premiered on BBC Radio 1 during Zane Lowe’s show back in late September as his ‘Hottest Record.’
I’ve always had a soft spot for R&B music -I can thank John Legend for that- and perhaps it’s this predisposition which attracts me to Joel Compass so easily. But, even if R&B isn’t your go-to genre, this young artist has enough originality and crossover appeal to really leave a mark.
Enjoy the song and video and stay tuned for his LP coming soon!

Hip-Hop, Rap | OnCue – Way Too Far
Posted by admin on October 12, 2013
With Angry Young Man in its imminence, OnCue continues to build the hype surrounding it with yet another single. “Way Too Far” is a ballad of Cuey’s endless work and the significant impacts that it’s been having on his life. The song certainly encapsulates the spirit of an angry young man, as each line is spit with an unmatched conviction and emotion.
OnCue has yet to give us a set release date for his forthcoming project, however, it was said to be released sometime this month. Whether that release date is abided by or we have to hold off a little longer, I’m sure I speak for many when I say that AYM will be worth the wait.
Enjoy the incredibly well produced “Way Too Far” and grab the free download courtesy of OnCue’s SoundCloud.
