The duo Timeflies recently released their first single since putting out their album Just For Fun last year. The song, “Once In A While”, is a contemporary pop song that features production by Rez and rapping/singing from counterpart, Cal. The song is tropical and fun, perhaps inspired by a recent move to Los Angeles.

When sifting through my inbox listening to submissions it often feels like a chore. I know it shouldn’t, music is fun, music is not a chore! However, it usually takes my ears catching sound of a great song for me to snap out of the funk. I have LA Van Gogh to thank for removing me from my latest email submission slump.
Hailing from the ever-talented Windy City, LA Van Gogh mixes jazzy, melodic rap with a soulful croon; a combination that is hard to resist. “Hold It Down” is a standout of LA’s work, and also serves as a statement for what is to come.

While not many prominent rappers from Boston can be listed off the top of ones head, there is a new wave of talent rising up from the streets of Beantown. Cousin Stizz, Michael Christmas and now Bia come to mind when surveying the current scene.
Bia is a new signee of Pharrell’s i am Other label and her single “Bobby Brown” is an evident statement why. Hostile, exciting and charismatic, it’s no wonder Bia is causing heads to turn.

Frank Leone admits he that he hates the word “remix.” However, his latest musical statement is a repurposing of Tyler the Creator’s “Treehome95” from the album Wolf. Frank adds to the song in the best way possible. Instead of just tossing on some different drums, or adding a verse, the Chicago 20-year-old makes the song his own.
Frank Leone’s consistent output of strong pieces of music makes him an exciting up and comer to watch for.
