At just 16, DJ/producer Callie Reiff has done more in her career than most could ever dream of doing. She’s played in front of packed crowds all over New York City, opened for bass-heavy hitters Jauz, Mija, Zedd, and Tchami, and has one of the top-streamed Nest HQ Minimix performances in the past year on SoundCloud. To take it one step further, she’s recently taken on the duty of throwing down one of the biggest parties in New York City this weekend. LA’s premiere party people of Space Yacht have traveled cross-country to deliver their first ever NYC affair, and have enlisted Tin Pan Alley and Callie Reiff to take control of the party. Review | Desert Hearts Spring Festival 2016: A Journey of Discovery
Posted by Tay on April 25, 2016
Before moving out to California three months ago, I didn’t know much about Desert Hearts. I would see the festival’s name pop up time after time in blogs and Facebook posts, and I became intrigued by the colorful photos and people that caught my attention. I remember sitting at home in the middle-of-nowhere, Pennsylvania, scrolling through photos of the festival, and fantasizing about what it would be like to be in this vibrant scene all dressed in silly clothes with happy-looking humans. Not long after my move to California, an opportunity arose for me to attend the festival; I couldn’t refuse it. The time had finally come for me to find out what Desert Hearts was all about.

Now, the Norwegian producer is taking his signature sound on the road with his inaugural North American tour, which kicks off at Coachella this weekend and features stops at Hangout Music Festival before wrapping up at Camp Bisco. Put on your dancing shoes and hit the dance floor, because we’ve got one hell of a mix from Gryffin to share with you today. The indie-dance artist whose best known for his stand-out remixes for Tove Lo, Years & Years, amongst others, and his debut original, “Heading Home,” has been in the midst of his debut “Heading Home” tour, and he’s just released the third installment of his Flight Log mix series – the “Spring Equinox” mix – as he is getting ready for the last leg of his tour. This sixty-minute mix is nothing short of awesome, as Gryffin works his way through some of his favorite tracks of late, including Rufus Du Sol’s “Like An Animal,” the Nick Talos remix of his own “Heading Home,” and his most recent remix of Troye Sivan’s “Youth.” Check out the rest of Gryffin’s tour dates below and get your tickets here.
House | Justin Jay Rocks Out With His Friends on “What Do You Want”
Posted by Tay on April 12, 2016
Woah. Now this isn’t something that I expected from Justin Jay, even though he promised us his debut Fantastic Voyage album was going to feature all sorts of genres across the spectrum when he officially announced the release, but there’s no doubt that I’m a huge fan. “What Do You Want” is the least dance-y record that Mr. Jay has put out, and by dance-y, we’re talking about the underground genres that Justin has dominated for so long. “What Do You Want” showcases a traditional indie rock backbone with Josh Taylor’s gravely vocals perfectly balanced by a smooth melody. Take a peep at it above.
News | EDX Continues His Dance Music Domination With 4 EMPO Award Nominations
Posted by Tay on April 7, 2016
It’s no secret that we’re pretty big fans of EDX here at FreshNewTracks. There’s no one in dance music quite like the Swiss-based producer, as he blends smooth melodies with a deep groove that he showcases front and center in his productions and in his live sets. The Italian native has been on an absolute tear as of late, touring the North America and Canada on his first-ever NoXcuses vs. Enormous Tunes bus tour that culminated in a jam-packed Miami Music Week. Earlier this year, EDX was named Beatport’s #1 charting artist over everyone from Hardwell and Tiesto, to Maceo Plex and Nicolas Jaar, further cementing his reputation as one of dance music’s elite. Now, EDX is primed to add a few more incredible accolades to his trophy case, as he’s been nominated for 4 EMPO Awards, including Producer of the Year, Remix of the Year for his remix of “Show Me Love”, Best Label, and Best Indie Dance/Nu Disco Artist. EDX may have nothing left to prove in his career, but he’s still showing that he’s at the top of his game.
