Dubstep | R Rated #45
Posted by Sev on September 5, 2012
Another week, means another Wednesday, which means another R-Rated. We are on edition #45 and we aren’t planning on slowing down anytime soon.
To kick things off we have an EP preview of an upcoming artist and FNT favorite, KillaGraham. It was about time a record label cleaned out their ears and signed this amazing artist after all his hardwork so far. Looks like Never Say Die just strengthened their artist base even more with this awesome edition. So much originality is pouring out from this artist it makes listening to his music refreshing and you can hear it all in this EP, because none of it sounds like anything you would hear from any other artist.
Tom Budin is another artist I have been keeping an eye on for quite sometime now, and this remix is ridiculous once again. After his terrorizing remix of Pendulum’s Tarantula I didn’t see him beating that remix personally, but I was wrong once again. He tends to stray away from the Reggae vibes a little on this remix and dives straight in for that nasty, grimy sound. So the first 100 people get a free download which means you need to get there before it is too late and be ready to vote for this amazing artist when the Beatport Remix competition voting opens up on Sept.19th.
Just featured on R-Rated two weeks ago, Truth is back on the R-Rated hit list once again. This duo has been bringing some funky vibes lately and it has been catching my attention every time I surf around Soundcloud. This track is also part of their first installment of free releases for their “Love Shadow’s” Album which has been split into EP’s and is all being released for FREE! This track has some awesome Deep style vibes with some hollow sounding synths giving off that underground dubstep sound that we used to hear so much of a few years ago. To listen to the rest of the first free EP click HERE.
This collaboration from RealTalK and Symbiotic is another heavy addition to this weeks R-Rated. Both of these bass bumping artists teamed up to create this fast paced drumstep track to lay their fans out during their shows. Bringing the heavy bass; this tracks gets grimy and fast so prepare yourselves mentally before you press play.
Why Ellie Goulding’s voice complements dubstep so well I have no idea, but given that this official remix from Draper is one of a kind. Given that Sound Remedy’s remix is hard to compete with because its melodic and a banger at the same time, this one is a close second. I know this track technically shouldn’t be in R-Rated because it is more liquid that heavy, but I just couldn’t help myself. This track is a way to settle you guys down after pumping you guys with adrenaline through all the heavy hitters before it, so just press play and enjoy the sounds.
Drum & Bass, Dubstep | Excision – X Rated Remixes
Posted by Sev on September 3, 2012
The mother-load for all Dubstep fans has arrived in the form of Excision’s X Rated Remix album. I am still awestruck at the amazing talent recruited for this colossal album. This is truly going to be a tough act to follow for most artist. I don’t even know where to begin talking about this album. Excision did a great job of making sure most heavy electronic genres were covered such as Moombahcore, Electro, Drumstep, Drum & Bass, and of course Dubstep.
Some honorable mentions to begin talking about the album; we have Space Laces Remix, Xilent, Loadstar, Eptic, and Dirtyphonics that left me MIND BLOWN. Those are just the artist who’s remixes stood out the most, but all the remixes were fantastic. Mach and I have been eagerly waiting for Space Laces to unleash some new material and if this remix gives us a glimpse of what is to come, the wait for more is going to be unbearable. HOLY SH** doesn’t even sum up my reaction when I first heard this absurd remix. I can’t wait for the day to hear this track at a show with its one of a kind futuristic synths and sounds. Xilent always destroys all remixes which he graces with his name. Not receiving much hype as far as I know on this remix left me wondering what he had stormed up this time and yet again we got an exhilarating masterpiece. Showing some similarities to his Out The Blue remix for Sub Focus through the synths this one still demolished it for me no doubt. Eptic was sure to roll through with his Never Say Die styled, upbeat remix of 8 Bit Hero. This style has become a hit through the label and for many upcoming artist as well. Dirtyphonic’s as well as Loadstar both crushed their remixes as well to say the least. To sum up things EVERY REMIX IS PHENOMENAL! Do not sleep on this album at all and purchase it from Beatport HERE.
Drum & Bass | DnB Friday’s
Posted by Sev on September 1, 2012
Kicking off Dnb Fridays we have this awesome video of Koven using an Alphasphere to create some grimy futuristic drum & bass. Using some KOAN Sound style synths mixed with a little bit of Spor style as well. This isn’t a usual style that you would expect from Koven, but change isn’t always for the worst with some artists. Grab the track for free from the video description.
Silence Groove have always been a favorite of mine as far as liquid DnB is concerned. This amazing artist always keep things simple but yet effective and emotional. He shows us that you don’t always have to have the craziest synths to create some amazing music.
On the other hand if you do feel like incorporating some crazy heavy synths this is probably the product you will get. Black Sun Empire gets raunchy with this freebie track entitled Delorean. Great work as usual from these guys.
Last but not least is a pretty awesome funky track from Featurecast. Having that DJ Fresh uplifting style of Dnb with vocals; this track is a great way to kick off the weekend. Nothing short of amazing on this track with some great melodies as well as some groovy synth sounds.

Dubstep | R Rated #43
Posted by Sev on August 22, 2012
Man do we have a packed R Rated this week. So many quality tunes to unleash on you guys that it has had us excited all day! We have all kinds of tracks so lets begin with the first pick, Figure. Let me start by saying, HOLY SH**! We haven’t known Figure to ever dissapoint, and that streak continues. This tune is next level on all kinds of nasty and is epic enough to melt your brain with some supersonic brainwaves.
Next up we switch gears to a darker tune by Skywalkerr. Yes, here on R Rated we love the heavy filthy tunes, but we also enjoy the deep, heavy dark ones as well. Skywalkerr shows promise in this track with some glimpses of early Cookie Monsta and even a little bit of Bassnectar. Everyone keep an eye out for this Californian by following him on Facebook HERE and shout outs to WhompTexas for the find.
This next one by Truth is also another deep tune, but with a little more nasty dabbled on top. Using some aggressive distorted wobbles to accompany the bass and deep sounds, this album looks very promising
I’m not going to lie, I was a fan of the original of this remix at one point in time, but hearing this remix sparked my interest in the track again. Vital Technique and Mikey B outdid themselves on this fun remix, giving it a little bit of Datsik flavor to carry the vocals through.
This next one is by Texas native, Treg. Shout outs to WhompTexas again for showing me two absolute bangers in one day! This one isn’t anything like what we heard earlier from Skywalkerr, but 10 times heavier. At first we were only going to preview the song, but we were able to get the exclusive hook-up on this one for the FNT fans, but I need everyone to go follow him on Soundcloud and like his Facebook page HERE.

Zeds Dead has pulled through again with another amazing, deep remix. Using the vocals provided by Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, they assembled another creative masterpiece. Showing us that sometimes less is more; they put the right amount of bass and wobble to satisfy the auditory system. Grab this track off of iTunes HERE.
Dubstep | Roksonix – Get Live

It has been a while since we saw anything from Roksonix and everyone, and I mean everyone is still waiting for their remix to Nero’s Me & You , but their is still no word on a release date for that track. To hold us over we have this upbeat banger that is sure to get your head bobbing. Giving us a taste of their highly appealing synth sounds along with some outrageous bass and laser synths. I’m a fan of their mid-track tempo changes as well which they show us again through this track. Grab this tune and the other off Beatport HERE.
