Chill, Dubstep | Just a Gent ft. Sarah Stone – ASOFI (Vendetta’s Chasing Nothing Remix)
Posted by Nick on November 24, 2013
Don’t get me wrong – I love how electronic music has been evolving recently; but this remix from Vendetta is a refreshing genre throwback that will make your head spin (in the best way possible). With a precise mixture of dubstep and drumstep, these San Francisco-based pioneers will leave you craving more of their sound with this completely revamped version of Just a Gent’s “A Song of Fire and Ice.” If you’re a fan of what the boys over at Adventure Club have been doing, then this track is a must listen. Bass, Chill | Hippie Sabotage – Stay High (Tove Lo Flip)
Posted by Nick on November 23, 2013
If there’s anything I can tell you about this track, it’s that this song is a must listen. I know I might be a little bit late on this one, but if you haven’t heard it, you need to right now. “Stay High” is an original mix by California-based Hippie Sabotage that samples vocals from Tove Lo’s pop record “Habits,” intended for the Aris Jerome directed video “Stay High.” Winter’s just about to start, but if you’re looking to recapture that summer vibe one last time, make sure to hit the play button ASAP; and if you really like it (which we both know you will), definitely worth checking out their other stuff too: straight quality.

Events | Event Review: UZ, K Theory, & Vital Riots, 09/NOV/2013
Posted by Nick on November 10, 2013
People have always told me about how mysterious UZ is; how enigmatic the act is that he puts on – and after his performance last night in San Luis Obispo, I’m here to tell you how cool it actually is.
Following two killer sets from Vital Riots and K Theory, the mystery man put on an insane, trap-filled set that lit up the entire venue, keeping the crowd moving track, after track, after track. Throwing down pieces from his “Trap Sh*t” series, all the way to DJ Snake’s “Bird Machine,” UZ had it going on from start to finish. Even with this girl trying (way too hard) to dance in front of him during his set, the new age trap star remained unfazed.
Speaking of “that girl” (who ended up getting kicked off stage about three times), she even tried to grind on/make out with Malcolm of K Theory during their set. Thankfully, he had the sense to say no, and continue with one of the most versatile EDM acts I’ve seen a while (which is especially impressive considering they were missing their third member, Dylan, who fell seriously ill shortly before the show). Regardless of any strange women trying to take the stage that night, the Black & Gold Party at The Graduate was definitely a great experience, and a show you should feel sad about missing if you weren’t there – sucks to suck. S/O to Collective Effort Events for putting together a great lineup.

Big things coming to San Luis Obispo, CA this Saturday (09/NOV) – come out and see one of the original trap legends UZ tear up The Graduate in downtown SLO; and for those of you who haven’t had the distinct pleasure of going absolutely crazy to one of his tracks, this event is definitely a good place to start. UZ began posting on Soundcloud last year, and eventually got picked up by Jeffree’s, a sublabel of Mad Decent, to put out his “Trap Sh*t” series. All of the records in that installment are quality, and since then, the mystery man’s thrown down numerous other bangers under the likes of Mau5trap, BNR, Ultra, Owsla, and the rest: definitely a show you don’t want to miss. Get your tickets HERE.

In the meantime, here’s his new video with Trae Tha Truth, Problem, & Trinidad James to help you get psyched up for this weekend, and maybe shed some light on why heavy-hitting artists like Skrillex, Diplo, Flosstradamus, along with many others, have been backing this guy up:
Bass, Trap | M.I.A. – Bad Girls (Andrew Luce Remix)
Posted by Nick on November 3, 2013
I’d like to cordially introduce you all to the up-and-coming producer, Andrew Luce. Coming out of The Bay, this kid has been throwing down tracks for about of year, dabbling in genres like trap, house, mashup, and many more. The versatility of this guy’s talent is definitely something to be admired, and he is definitely someone to look out for as the electronic music game continues to evolve (he’s only sixteen, so we’ll be seeing a lot of him). Check out his newest release below, a remix of M.I.A’s “Bad Girls:” it’s got a bassline that absolutely kicks, and the sampling on the drops will have you going nuts. Don’t forget to grab a FREE download, and then show your support by liking his Facebook and following him on Soundcloud/Twitter.

Trap | Elos – Auto (Djemba Djemba & King Henry Remix)

For those of you who have been a little out of the loop, half of Penthouse Penthouse got arrested for trying to get his DJ equipment out of a warehouse that was being raided by police. The bad news: his bail is crazy high (around $20,000). The good news, however (if you could call it that), is a lot of artists have been putting out new music in an effort to raise money to help the homie out. So, Penthouse’s label Team Supreme just released a mixtape (which can be found on Bandcamp HERE) with a bunch of donated tracks from tons of talented, supportive artists. Put your part in, and make sure to cop a download of this remix of Elos’ track “Auto” by Djemba Djemba and King Henry. It has a bassline you won’t forget – definitely a Saturday-night-slap. #FREEPENTHOUSE.

Trap | Imogen Heap – Hide and Seek (Candyland’s OG Remix)
Posted by Nick on October 28, 2013
I’m surprised this track hasn’t gotten more coverage over the past few days. Candyland, the killer duo from Isla Vista, comprised of Josie Martin & Ethan Davis, just released (yet another) OG remix – and it’s spectacular to say the least.
Remember back in ’09 when a bunch of artists kept remixing/sampling this song (e.g. – Tiësto’s Remix and Jason Derulo’s “Watcha Say”)? Well, Candyland just brought it back, and it’s straight fire. The way these two chop and screw the vocals, and then throw down an original beat with that classic Candyland sound is refreshing, leaving you wondering how you’re going to wait for their next production. Hit up that free download and enjoy!
