Electronic, House | Rasmus Faber – Indian Summer feat. Frida Sundemo
Posted by mimada on September 4, 2013
As evening approaches over here in the land of the tall, blonde and beautiful, I’ve got a spectacular view out my dorm room window of the sun setting in the horizon. Inspiring, to say the least, to watch it while listening to one of my latest discoveries. Now before I give that away, let me tell you I love house just as much as the next frat star but there comes a point, not just for house but all genres, where everything honestly starts to sound the same. I was worried I had reached that point until I stumbled upon Swedish producer (there seems to be a lot of these floating around FNT lately…), Rasmus Faber. And his latest release, titled “Indian Summer” featuring fellow Swede Frida Sundemo stands out to me the most. Like many a great progressive house tracks, it has the heavenly vocals and pulsating beats but instead of the overused builds and drops, Rasmus provides us with a “musical landscape of meandering and looping piano.” Not bad, right?
As I writer I do my best to share my own unique feelings, but considering my circumstances, the track’s description really nails it on the head for me:
Indian Summer evokes lazy, sunny days of happiness, yet with the imminence of autumn comes a slight sense of foreboding and melancholy that is ever-present in Scandinavian culture. Enjoy the last few rays, the swan song, the gentle passing of time as thoughts look to the future and what could be!
Will do, Rasmus.

Electro | Mord Fustang – If You Want (Original Mix)
Posted by mimada on September 2, 2013
Mimada here, broadcasting to you live from Sweden for the next few months. After sorting out the internet situation abroad, I could not be MOAR excited to make my first return post about anyone but Mord Fustang. Throughout the entirety of my experience with Mord he has remained one of my all time favorite artists. His style, so engaging and vivacious, is really unlike anything else out there right now yet is consistent enough to never disappoint. His latest track, “If You Want,” has all the standard Mord Fustang characteristics (slow build, bubbly repetitive what-sounds-like vocals, epic and totally satisfying conclusion) but has subtle elements of experimentation (see: 2:25). As soon as I heard this, I seriously signed up for Beatport account just so I could download it (yes, I’m a little behind).
Mord Fustang is like your favorite flavor of ice cream that you love to overindulge in. And when you start to think you’ve had enough of it, he drops a track that’s the same flavor, just with a new topping. And it’s even better than before.
As we say our final goodbyes to summer, we raise our Klondike bars, Swirled froyo cones and Drumsticks to you, Mord.

Events | THROWBACK THURSDAY: The Best of Global Dance Festival 2013
Posted by mimada on August 15, 2013
After finally resolving some site issues and getting the chance to post up in one location for more than 24 hours, I am elated to present to you a recap of Fresh New Tracks’ favorite moments from this year’s Global Dance Festival.
Global Dance Festival is the hidden gem of music festivals, not-so-quietly tucked away between the soaring red rocks a few miles outside Denver, Colorado. This year marks the 11th running of the festival and to this day, Global has stayed true to its motive of keeping things fresh and innovative as both electronic music and the world evolve. Each day of the festival varied greatly from the next, catering to electronic music aficionados of every kind.
SO CHECK IT OUT, AFTER THE BREAK!
Albums, Electronic, Mashups, Mix | The Hood Internet – Trillwave 3
Posted by mimada on August 14, 2013
Ahhhhhhh could not be more excited to share the latest release from The Hood Internet. So they’ve got this thing called Trillwave, which is basically a seamless, sensual, and poetic synthesis of popular hip hop vocals over chill, indie instrumental counterparts that make you wonder, Why weren’t these jams paired up before…? And the third installment of Trillwaves does not disappoint. MISHKA really hit the nail on the head by describing Trillwave as the type of mixtape for “when you have to entertain a mixed crowd, or if you need to take a long drive with someone who doesn’t worship at a temple for 808s for church bells.” And, in accordance with the rising trend, Trillwave 3 features quite a few subtle tributes to the sweet and sexy R&B of the 90’s. Oh, radical baby.
You can, and absolutely should, download the previous Trillwaves straight from The Hood Internet’s website here. And catch the tracklist after the break, especially my favorite pairings including Kanye West vs Daft Punk, Miguel vs RL Grime and Kendrick, Drake, and Giraffage.
LIVE FOR THE TRILL.

Electronic | gLAdiator – VIP EP
Posted by mimada on August 14, 2013
In honor of hitting the 50k mark on Facebook, LA DJ duo gLAdiator released their VIP EP, a 3-track selection of some of their most popular tracks, tracks that you’ve probably heard at every music festival and block party this summer. Although it’s brief, each song varies enough to keep you on your toes for the release of their actual, official EP. The M1 Stinger track is dope though, probably my favorite out of the three. Download the EP and bump it today in honor of Mila Kunis’s birthday, who happens to be gLAdiator’s “muse and guiding light.” With a muse like that, how could you possibly go wrong.

Electronic | Meowski666 – Meow Machine
Posted by mimada on July 31, 2013
Dillon Francis and Kill The Noise have finally let the cat out of the bag: and by that I mean the first track from their collab project appropriately titled Meowski666. Originally, the duo premiered the pairing at the IHEARTCOMIX Mad Decent Fool’s Gold SXSW showcase (minus KTN) under the hiatus, “Kitten Party.” Now, our favorite cat-loving DJs are ready to let the dogs cats out with the release of “Meow Machine,” an electronic cacophony of bass, Venga Boys, and KW Griff’s “Bring In The Katz,” punctuated by cat calls of your favorite feline YouTube celebrities. And I’m not kitten when I tell you it’s just awesome.
In regards to Meowski666, Dillon tweeted:
Jake and I’s sideproject @Meowski666 is really us just letting loose, having fun & creating something everyone with love… No boundaries
While Kill The Noise put it more simply as “Just two guys doin it for the lulz.” (As per your request Jake, not making any shit up)
Judging by the rest of Dillon’s recent Twitter activity, he’s got some serious shit a-brewin’ (exhibit A, B, and C) but I think so far this track might be my favorite =^.^=

Electronic, House | Carnage & Tony Junior – Michael Jordan
Posted by mimada on July 23, 2013
The latest release by Carnage proves that he is mercilessly conquering the festival house game. “Michael Jordan,” a collaboration with Dutch DJ Tony Junior, is already a raging hit that has spread like fire across the board. Even prior to it’s release though, the track was already pretty ubiquitous, packing heat in big name sets such as Martin Solveig, R3hab and Steve Aoki. Now my social media feeds are filled with “Michael Jordans,” a new sort of Harlem Shake where you just gotta get as pumped as possible when the beat drops.
“When we were testing out the track, people jumped like crazy on it, so we thought about someone that could jump really high,” claims Tony Junior, according to Billboard. “Then Carnage said, ‘Let’s call it ‘Michael Jordan!’ And the name was born.”
So there you have it. Now everybody get up, it’s time to slam.
“Michael Jordan” is available for purchase via Beatport
