Progressive House | Quintino & Alvaro – World In Our Hands (The Two Friends Remix)
Posted by Mel on April 29, 2013
When they’re not busy using absurdly low resolution cover art, The Two Friends shoot for the stars in all aspects of life. Their hopes and dreams include singing the national anthem at their local schools football game, finally pulling the trigger and subscribing to Maxim, and to open up and successfully run a fish taco truck in Stratford Ontario, JB’s hometown in an attempt to get him to visit and do stuff with them. Once the ice is broken and he hugs them, at the same time (3 person hug), they will spend the rest of the day staring at each others hair because JB is just such a good looking dude and then all three of them spend the night together in the fish taco truck cuddling and using JB’s made-for-women Chanel jacket for warmth.
Anyway, they just released their remix to Quintino & Alvaro’s “World In Our Hands” for free download and it is definitely worth checking out.

Progressive House | Sander van Doorn, Dubvision & Mako – Into the Light
Posted by Mel on April 29, 2013
When you combine Sander Van Doorn with talented up and comers Mako and one of the leaders in the new era of progressive house, Dubvision, you are sure to have a hit on your hands. “Into The Light” utilizes the soothing vocals of Mariana Bell in conjunction with slow key play and dark chords, setting the atmosphere before the frantic build and intense drop. This track truly showcases each of the collaborators individual style, in turn creating something of which we would not have seen from any of them alone.

Progressive House | United Stormwatch (Stereoshock Official Edit)
Posted by Mel on April 28, 2013
In an era where house mashups are quite possibly the worst thing to ever exist, it’s a good thing there are artists such as Stereoshock willing to raise the bar. Stereoshock’s edits, unlike most mashups, combines multiples tracks together in a cohesive way that makes it seem as one individual song. His latest edit does just that. He takes two songs and merges them so flawlessly that you cannot tell you are listening to two different tracks. “United Stormwatch” consists of Swanky Tunes & Hard Rock Sofa’s “United” as well as the Dinka and Chris Reece mix of “Stormwatch”. Watch out because big things are happening for Stereoshock including him signing to NUE Agency and his mom commenting on his Soundcloud about how much she loves his music.

Progressive House | The Fray – You Found Me (Fidde Stigsson Bootleg)
Posted by Mel on April 23, 2013
I first came across 16 year old Swedish producer Fidde Stigsson a couple months ago late one night when I was doing what I’m sure most teenage guys do late at night when they can’t sleep and have a laptop and headphones nearby; I was searching for house remixes to Taylor Swift’s “Love Story”. His remix was one of my favorites at the time, earning himself a coveted follow on Soundcloud. Today he released his new remix to The Fray’s “You Found Me” and it’s a good one. A smooth electric guitar and a catchy melody during the build is a recipe for success. Grab the free download below and, if you enjoyed it, like him on Facebook.

Chill | Passenger – Let Her Go (Kygo Remix)
Posted by Mel on April 23, 2013
Amid the constant exposure to dance music, it’s nice to find a song like this that provides a breath of fresh air to ones ears. Kygo, a 21 year old from Norway, has painted an atmospheric picture with his remix of Passenger’s “Let Her Go”. Bloggers always say they can see themselves listening to a song on a beach or in some tropical paradise so I won’t say that, even though I do feel that way. Instead, I will say that if it’s a nice day outside, you have some free time, and walking around without pants on is kind of your thing, then this song might just be for you.

Progressive House | Will K, Marcus Santoro & Daniel Gregorio – Open Your Eyes (feat. Mitch Thompson)
Posted by Mel on April 22, 2013
Seventeen year old Marcus Santoro, along with fellow Australians Will K and Daniel Gregorio have just released their debut single on Neon Records. “Open Your Eyes”, like many of Santoro’s previous tracks, is a festival ready big room tune. The sing-along friendly vocals of Mitch Thompson are supplemented perfectly by uplifting melodies that lead up to a high energy, climactic drop. I had a bagel this morning and while saying bagels everywhere are not as good as this song might be a stretch, I will say listening to this song has given me more sexual pleasure than any bagel ever has. Grab the song on Beatport and be sure to go out and live your life to the fullest because one day, when you least expect it, this song will be there for you to slowly caress your face while you sleep.

Electro, Progressive House | Lift Off #011
Posted by Mel on April 20, 2013
You know how I said Lift Off would be a weekly thing on the last edition which was a month ago? Yeah I was kidding about that. A couple of things have gone down since the last edition. One being I saw two attractive girls holding hands which was pretty cool, the other being we have decided to end Lift Off. As well as us finding this series no longer necessary, we were also not too happy with the quality of tracks that were going up. I know you’re on the edge of tears regarding the end of this series and for that I don’t apologize because nothing is going to really change. The songs that would normally appear on Lift Off will still be posted, just not on Lift Off and when they actually come out. That’s better isn’t it? There has been a bit of a drought of good, free house music for the past couple of weeks so this should satisfy you for at least a day or so and if not you can at least have solace in the fact that you don’t drive a van.
We start things off with dBerrie who puts his own upbeat spin on Kaskade’s classic “Angel On My Shoulder”.
I’m not a huge fan of Bruno Mars. His songs are generally really sappy and sad I just can’t handle it. Luckily though, NYC based duo Filtercrush has made his “When I Was Your Man” into something worth listening to.
Included in Tjernberg’s two track EP, “Watch Then World End” is a fun and catchy song that could easily be on the radio. It can also be enjoyed while sitting on a public bench and crying.
