Progressive House | Lift Off #012
Posted by Mel on June 6, 2013
Aside from how to fit a whole banana in my mouth, there are only two things I know. One being there has been some quality releases lately and two being they haven’t been posted. I won’t blame anybody W8 but I figured that this moment is what Lift Off was made for. There is a backlog of tracks that, if they were girls, would be known for their great personalities. That is the philosophy behind Lift Off. It only made sense to revive this series for at least one more instalment. We start off above with a modern rendition of a song that came out when I was just the sexy young age of seven. “By The Way” by The Red Hot Chili Peppers gets brought into 2013.

I wasn’t involved in a long and amazing relationship with this next song but it sure feels like I was. The way it just tears at my heart makes me feel like we’re going through a devastating break up. Whether that’s the impact the lyrics are having on me or I’m just making it up I do not know. What I do know is that I was an open canvas ready to be painted on and this track painted a masterpiece across my naked body.
Yes, the reality of rampant transexuals currently populating Brazil does worry me a bit. They look alright at first glance but by the time you find out it’s just too late. Might as well go through with it at that point. These are issues that Brazil’s Lucas Bojakowski hopefully doesn’t have to face and if he does, we won’t judge him for doing it. He has recently remixed Dirty South’s “Your Heart” beautifully and is giving it away for free.
Not including my parents, I have like 5 friends. Of those 5, about half are girls I don’t actually know but who’s Instagram’s I may have accidentally memorized and occasionally check when it’s time. Jk I don’t do that. That’s creepy. I hold myself to a higher standard than that. It may be okay for other people, mainly Avicii, to make subpar decisions regarding what to play at Ultra and memorizing Instagram’s, but not me. TOER is a name that nobody memorizes because nobody knows who he is. Though if he keeps putting out huge, big room originals like “Knight Lights”, that may change.
Alternative, Chill | Conics – This Moment (Jordan F Remix)
Posted by Mel on June 3, 2013
It’s 1AM on a Sunday night. Not being able to sleep, you decide to take a walk. As you’re walking you see a mouse; it reminds you of your sister because it’s so ugly. You get to the park and take a seat on a bench. After sitting for a few and thinking about things, such as is once a day too much, you pull out your phone and plug your headphones in. This is the song you chose.

Progressive House | Ellie Goulding – I Know You Care (Triad Dragons Remix)
Posted by Mel on May 30, 2013
Triad Dragons are a group based out of Denver consisting of three producers. I wasn’t overly impressed with their previous work but when I heard their remix of Ellie Goulding’s “I Know You Care” I was blown away. Out of the many that I’ve heard, this is perhaps my favorite Ellie Goulding remix.
Albums, Progressive House | Project 46 – Continuum EP

It brings me great pleasure that perhaps my favorite house duo Project 46 are, not only fellow Canadians, but also huge hockey and also Vancouver Canucks fans (well, one of them is). The always good looking duo (I don’t know what they look like) have just released an EP for free on Monstercat. When one hears that an EP is free they usually associate the free aspect with low quality; the leftovers that aren’t good enough to go on Beatport for $2.49. This EP, however, is not that. Each of the three tracks included are great. The two instrumentals show some diversity with “Catalyst” being more of a high energy, big room track and “Ekho” going for the cheery, uplifting vibe. Also included is “Waiting”, a vocal house track made in collaboration with Soundwell, a seemingly unknown producer from the Netherlands. Overall, this is an impressive EP made even better by the fact that it’s free.

Progressive House | Capital Cities – Safe and Sound (Henrix & Darmon Remix)
Posted by Mel on May 28, 2013
Notable Miami based producer Henrix teamed up with newcomer Darmon to remix the Capital Cities hit song “Safe and Sound”. Following the same sound as his collaborations with Jakob Liedholm, this remix strays from his hard hitting style and goes for the more uplifting approach. The result is a track that is definitely worth a listen.
Progressive House | Archie feat Crywolf – Heart Attack (Club Edit)
Posted by Mel on May 27, 2013
Archie has returned with a new free track for everybody. If you’ve heard any house song in the past two years then you know what to expect. I’m not too fond of Archie for the simple fact that he, like many of his peers, has chosen to ride the wave of generic progressive house. He’s even used the exact same synth for some of his earlier songs. This song, however, has something distinguishable amongst his other tracks. That would be the excellent vocals of Justin Phillips, also known as Crywolf. He is one of my favorite male vocalists so it was fairly obvious that when he combined with the good, but generic Archie, that it would be a good song.
Progressive House | Topher Jones feat. James Bowers – Save Me (Josef Belani Remix)
Posted by Mel on May 22, 2013
After listening to the remix package to Topher Jones’ “Save Me”, 21 year old Spaniard Josef Belani’s remix is without a doubt my favorite. I would be lying if I said it was unique because it isn’t. It’s what every good house song sounds like these days. Nevertheless, this is still a great remix. As well as featuring the catchy vocals of James Bowers and a build you could bathe in, this has everything you would expect from a great house track.
