Hip-Hop, Videos | Smoke Again – Chance the Rapper feat. Ab-Soul (Video)
Posted by J_Salzer on April 28, 2013
Nothing better to hype up your already highly anticipated mixtape than a brand new video and a brand new track. Chance had the opportunity to link up with the likes of illRoots (directed the video), Ab-Soul, and Skrillex on his latest trip to LA, and I had the opportunity to hear some of the stories. Let’s just say I hope Chance goes out to LA again soon. The song itself is just another example of why Chance is the next big thing. Chance’s lyrics are on another level, evidenced by “lean all on the square, that’s a fucking rhombus,” as some body who failed geometry, even I could appreciate that line. The video, filmed by the great people of illRoots, is original and awesome, and captures the mood of the song perfectly. Check out the video above and be on the lookout for Acid Rap, April 30th.
Hip-Hop, Videos | No Trace – 5AM in Toronto (Remix)
Posted by J_Salzer on April 28, 2013
I know what most of you are thinking. You’re angry at me for posting a remix to 5AM in Toronto, it’s like three weeks late, I get it. But, this is my first exposure to No Trace’s music and I was shocked. When I got a message from a 16 year old, yes, I said 16 year old, on Facebook, I was expecting the worst. What I got though, was the opposite. Now, you can’t be comparing these guys to Drake, Chance, Cole, etc., yet. They’re 16. They have mad potential and the song is dope. Check it out above and be on the lookout for more from these two, Fresh New Tracks will be tracking their progress closely.
Chill, Hip-Hop | Jetpack Jones – Cup Runneth Over
Posted by J_Salzer on April 28, 2013
Another week, another new track from the hardest working rapper in the game. Jetpack Jones releases yet another free track for his fans enjoyment. Jetpack has been a roll lately, releasing the best music of his career. I’ve seen an incredible amount of progression in the California rapper’s skills in the past two years, and his best is yet to come. The time has come for people to stop sleeping on Jetpack and wake up to the Jetpack movement. His latest song is a great introduction to his music if you haven’t heard it before. Check the track out below and be on the lookout for more Jetpack.
Videos | Drake – Girls Love Beyonce (Rendition) by SoMo
Posted by J_Salzer on April 21, 2013
It just to happens that everytime I hear a new SoMo Sunday, I am also watching NBC’s The Voice. Joseph SoMo is better than every person I’ve seen on NBC’s primetime singing competition. But I’m going to give credit where credit is due and let you all know that Joseph SoMo is one of the best singers in this country. He can go toe to toe with the best of them, and I’m sure he would have all 4 coaches at his beck and call if he were to go Collin McLoughlin and make the transition from the blog game to the TV game. But we hope he doesn’t because that could interfere with our SoMo Sundays. So stay where you belong Mr. SoMo, we love you.
Chill, Hip-Hop, Videos | Jetpack Jones – Good Tree (Prod. by Brock Berrigan)
Posted by J_Salzer on April 21, 2013
I get it, it’s not 4/20 anymore. But everybody can always use some good smoking music. If you’re not a smoker, this song is stil for you. Jetpack made it with both his tokers, and non tokers in mind. Whether you’ve got good tree or not, this song will chill you out, like it did to me on this dreary Sunday. As I contemplate my seemingly meaningless internet existence, Jetpack puts me in the right mindset to get through another week, because guess what? It’s almost summer.
Hip-Hop, Videos | Raz Simone – Hometown (Video)
Posted by J_Salzer on April 17, 2013
April 8th Raz Simone released his latest song/video called “Hometown”, the same day as his court date in New York. The new song has a special meaning to Raz because of events occurring in his life recently. As he’s known to do Raz uses this video as an informal letter to his fans about what he’s been going through. To hear more of Raz’s story check out his recently released solo debut EP “Solomon Samuel Simone”, available for free download here.
I am a huge supporter of the up and coming hip-hop scene in Seattle. It was produced people like Mackelmore and Ryan Lewis, The Blue Scholars, and Grieves. It is also home to up and comers like Sam Lachow, Raz, Gift Uh Gab, and many, many others. Check out the video above and don’t sleep on Raz.
Hip-Hop, Videos | Marc Goone – Chasing Rainbows ft. Gloria Kim (prod. Zuckswithit)
Posted by J_Salzer on April 16, 2013
Marc Goone’s latest video, a 5 and a half minute Vine. is not friendly for seizure prone people. Pictures of the Marc Goone are flashing while he is rapping over the quick moving slideshow. The beat, crafted by Aaron Zuckerman aka Zuckswithit is phenomenal as always. I’m always a fan of the Zucks-Goone collaboration. Marc Goone’s unique style of rapping and Zuck’s creative beats always set the stage for a interesting, fantastic piece of music. Check out the video above, and if you don’t follow Marc already on Twitter, do it, you won’t regret it.
