After hitting us with a number of insane remixes, SmarterChild has finally dropped his first original production. It captures the same upbeat, yet smooth feeling that he displayed in his KOPPS remix with a few new surprises sprinkled in.

After listening to the latest FNT Mix, courtesy of our very own DJ JurisDoc, two times through (once at home and once at the gym) I can safely brand it a Must Download. There’s nothing better than letting someone else do all of the hard work for you by carefully selecting and mixing a plethora of ear-wetting jams. Well thats enough writing for now, I gotta get back to round three…

Hip-Hop | Rick Ross ft. Wale, Meek Mill, & T-Pain – Bag Of Money
Posted by GMONEY on March 4, 2012
The big boss, Ricky Ross, is back at it again. This time he’s recruited auto-tune aficionado T-Pain for his first single off his upcoming “Self Made Vol. 2” album. Recently voted “hottest MC” in the world by MTV, Rawse’s star has never shined brighter. Rick Ross, lyrically less technical than his predecessors, proves in this current hip-hop climate, style matters more than substance. His ability to make you feel like a dope king while riding with your watch out the window, however, is a testament to the power of his music. B*tch you wasn’t with him chewing on some ribs. Money over everything. UGHN.

Mixtapes | D. Tucker- Somewhat Good Is Okay Vol. 2 (FNT Exclusive)
Posted by GMONEY on March 1, 2012
FreshNewTracks.com is proud to exclusively bring you D.Tucker’s sophomore project, “Somewhat Good Is Okay Vol.2”. This 23-year-old alternative hip-hop sensation, founder of the YachtLife (Young. Ambitious. Creative. High-standard. Talented. Lifestyle.) set sail in the Bahamas and made his way to Miami where he currently resides. Earlier this week, I asked D.Tucker about his first project, what his goals where, and what philosophy his music was guided by. He replied:
“When I recorded my first mixtape I was at the end stage of switching my career from a professional photographer into a full time alternative rap / hip-hop artist. I was excited to be utterly focus on, SGIOV2, painting my stories of love and ambitions for YachtLife. As an artist I want to continue to push my creativity to make better work and ultimately make me the best me that I could be. My new fans will eventually learn that I take my craft serious and I work my ass off to better myself for a number of reasons other than kicking it on the beach with in my Sperrys, with Stellas and models. I want to inspire people, make them feel good and let them know that they can do anything that they want to when they put their mind to it with some good work ethics. To say it again in simple terms, I want the people to know that life become a non-stop vacation when you make your passion your profession.”
Indeed, this budding artist is doing just that- relentlessly chasing his dreams with an unwavering vision. If D. Tucker continues to drop projects a strong as this mixtape, I predict he’ll be on a Yacht somewhere off the coast of San Tropez in no time. I’ve included my favorite tracks below as well as a download link to the entire project. Hit “read on” for the tracklist.
Hip-Hop | Aziz – The 1990’s (One Love x Dead Presidents x Full Clip)
Posted by GMONEY on February 28, 2012
Aziz, a first generation American, born to a Senegalese father and German mother, spent most of his life in New Hampshire before moving to Boston to study and play basketball at Brandeis University. Blessed with the gift of gab, Aziz ‘s ability to command a room became apparent at an early age, and from the onset, his older brothers pushed him to turn to hip hop as an outlet. The advice clearly paid off, as Aziz has become a budding star in the blogosphere. The video above is a compilation of three verses taken from his mixtape “TwentyOne” that’s set to drop March 12th. The mixtape takes a track from each of the 21 years Aziz has been alive (1990-Today). It includes 21 different artists and 21 different producers over that time period and he spits 21 verses over those respective beats. This mixtape pays homage to the hip hop that inspired and made him who he is today. Now this is what I’m talm’bout.
Hip-Hop | Jazz Cartier- Jet Plane
Posted by GMONEY on February 27, 2012
Balancing a budding rap career and school is no easy task. Just ask the enigmatic Jazz Cartier, a Toronto native who is an amalgam of boarding school life and nostalgic Texas rap culture made popular by the late DJ Screw.
Building on his freshman project, “Losing Elizabeth”, Jazz comes off a brief hiatus to drop what presumably serves as a teaser for his upcoming “Marauding in Paradise” mixtape. Sampling Angus and Julia Stone’s “Big Jet Plane”, the track features production from Michael Lantz and details the rise and fall of a romantic relationship. He raps contemplatively, “The only girl that wants to study while her friends go and party/a plain jane think about you when it rains/I take it with a grain/and meet you on the plane.” Omitting a third and final verse, Jazz leaves the listener in suspense craving a resolution to the romantic encounter. It seems we’ll have to wait until “Marauding In Paradise” to find out how the story ends. In the mean time, be sure to follow Jazz on Twitter here. Life’s a wheel of fortune, and Jazz Cartier plans to spin it.
