Hip-Hop, Mixtapes | Domo Genesis & The Alchemist – No Idols (MIXTAPE)
Posted by dshaq on August 9, 2012
Although this is a little late, what we have here is one of the best produced mixtapes of all year. No if, ands, or buts. Straight up, what The Alchemist did to this project is magical. Domo Genesis, garnering some really good features, came out of his shell and really showed his true potential on this tape. After this, I think Domo has a real shot at a decent solo career, just as long as the production is this quality. I’m interested to see what people think of this tape and if they think it’s as good as I do. Any and all comments/opinions drop them in the comment box below.
Hip-Hop | 2 Chainz – Birthday Song (Ft. Kanye West)
Posted by dshaq on July 23, 2012
DSHAQ: TRUUUUUUUUUUUUU. Let’s just say after hearing this fine track, I can’t wait for Based On A T.R.U. Story, 2 Chainz’ debut album. Tity Boi links up with the head honcho over at G.O.O.D. music to create the musical greatness that is this song. Get ready for that album because it’s gone be fire.
“A”: When I first listened to this on my laptop speakers, I wasn’t impressed. The “when I die, bury me inside the Gucci store” is worthy of a few eye rolls to say the least. When I put my headphones on I was able to listen to the beat and there’s a lot of intricate details that your average speakers wouldn’t pick up. Pretty dumb move, if you’re trying to go to radio with this single, if you ask me. With the exception of the beat, there’s really nothing special about the song.
Alternative, Hip-Hop | Aer – Like the Way (Official Video)
Posted by dshaq on July 23, 2012
There’s just something about summer that makes Aer’s music perfect for it. Whether it’s their relaxing melodies, or their laid back rhymes, they are like two peas in a pod. Their latest single, Like the Way, is no exception either. Their debut album, The Bright Side, comes out in a week so make sure you look back for that. Show some love to their Facebook and Twitter pages below.
Hip-Hop | Rick Ross – 3 Kings (Ft. Dr. Dre & Jay-Z)
Posted by dshaq on July 19, 2012
DSHAQ: Let me begin by saying that it really pains me that I don’t get to hear a “MMMAYBACH MUSIC” in the beginning. All music tags aside, this song is flawless. The beat, which was phenomenally crafted by Jake One, fits each “King’s” flow perfectly. The verses are on point, which you expect nothing less from 3 of hip hop’s greatest, transitioning so smoothly from one to another. Although God Forgives, I Don’t isn’t due out until the 31st, this will hold us over until then.
A: Let me begin by saying that I disagree with my esteemed colleague. Ross has been struggling lately, dropping single after single to no avail. Sure, he’s on the radio, but he doesn’t have a “Blowing Money Fast” or even an “Aston Martin Music” in his pocket right now. Ross was relying on “3 Kings” to be his ace in the hole today and it turned out to be a joker. Jay-Z’s verse was mailed in, previously meant for a DJ Khaled, Dre’s verse was written by Rick Ross, and Rick Ross dropped perhaps his worst verse of the year. I don’t know what’s going on over there at Maybach Music, but I predict “God Forgives, I Don’t” will be a dud.
Hip-Hop, Videos | Hopsin – ill mind of Hopsin 5
Posted by dshaq on July 18, 2012
I’m not much of a Hopsin fan, but this really intrigued me. His lyrics are out there but his flow is on point. The emphasis is what really got me with this song, especially his yelling. This definitely makes me want to listen to some of his other stuff. Make sure to be on the lookout for more Hopsin and his Ill Mind.
Hip-Hop, Mixtapes | Caleb James – Ground Up (Mixtape)
Posted by dshaq on July 15, 2012
Another post, another Chicago rapper. Caleb James, who is a relatively new face to FNT, released his latest mixtape today, and trust me, it’s a good one. Caleb is unique because he is so versatile. Instead of sticking to solely trap beats, or smoker’s anthems, he varies his beats allowing him to show his various flows. Garnering a couple notable features from fellow SAVEMONEY partners such as Chance the Rapper, Vic Mensa, Nico Segal, and others, it makes for a great listen from start to finish. Be on the lookout for more Caleb and other SAVEMONEY artists.
