Electronic, Trap | Papertoy – The Love
Posted by BP on November 9, 2013
Surprise! I’m writing about another Die High release. “The Love” by Papertoy, from Sydney, Australia, is bouncy and light. It’s got some trap beats, but the synths make me want to put it in just an “electronic” category. The vocal chops are way cool, and the airy feel to the song is fantastic. Papertoy has lots of other excellent trap remixes on his Soundcloud, so check his page out if you’re feelin’ it!

Chill, Electronic | Chiefs – Stay ft. Nick Acquroff
Posted by BP on November 5, 2013
Chiefs gave me the honor of premiering his video for his new track “Stay ft Nick Acquroff (of Sons et al.)” The video is directed by Jarred Osborn and Julian Lucas and features scenes of a man and a woman dealing with some conflicting emotions. The track itself is relaxing and unique. The vocals will remain in your ears all day. It’s eerie and definitely something different. Here’s what Chiefs had to say about the meaning of the video:
“The song is quite ambiguous and lends itself to self-interpretation. The video reflects this and allows the watcher to draw their own conclusion about what is happening. Is she real or not…”

Chill, Electronic | Just A Gent – Dusty
Posted by BP on November 3, 2013
This was a very hard to categorize track, but none the less very cool. “Dusty” by Just A Gent is out on Die High Records, which is quickly becoming one of my favorite labels. It’s got a unique ambient background with some crazy beats. Overall this is very chill song, a diamond in the rough. Just A Gent is sixteen year old named Jacob Grant from Newcastle, Australia. I was honestly shocked to see his age, because this track is so classy. He’s grabbed my attention for sure. Download this track for free on Bandcamp!

Chill, Trap | Tom Aspaul – Indiana (Bronze Whale Remix)
Posted by BP on October 30, 2013
This remix of “Indiana” by Tom Aspaul from Bronze Whale was one of those tracks that grabbed my attention immediately. The vocals are absolutely fantastic – just pure joy for the ears. The trap style beats Bronze Whale brought to the remix are fun and light. It’s a really unique combination with the sweet, mellow vocals and the bouncy beats. This is some A+ work right here.

We can always expect greatness from PatrickReza. This new track called “Take Me Away (featuring Jilian)” is right on point. It’s PatrickReza’s usual style – melodic dubstep. The vocals are smooth and ear pleasing, as are the rising and falling synths. Grab it on Facebook if you’re a fan!

Chill, Electronic | Justin Bieber – Hold Tight (Figgy Remix)
Posted by BP on October 29, 2013
Ok – so I said I won’t be posting much Justin Bieber, but this track is pretty cool. Figgy flipped “Hold Tight” into a sexy, smooth chill track and lowered the vocals a notch or two. Figgy did some pretty clean drum work on this track, and it’s well put together. Even if you’re not a Bieber fan, this flip is pretty cool. Grab it for free on Facebook!

Dubstep | Singularity – Vain
Posted by BP on October 29, 2013
“Vain” is one of four tracks on Singularity’s new EP called “Rift”. It was very hard to pick just one song to feature, because they are all great. The EP has melodic dubstep, breaks, and drum and bass tracks. The piano in this track was provided by Evan Duffy. “Vain” is melodic and heartfelt, and has great pacing. The EP also includes Singularity’s first remix contest, and that will be for the track called “Rift”, so check that one out too!
