Pop | Spree Wilson- Sharpshooter
Posted by ATexas on February 14, 2012

What genre is this? With 2012 the lines of hip hop, funk, pop and, well, everything have become a blurred vision of hella dope groundbreakers. Spree Wilson’s video and song are like if 1967 Funkadelic had a baby with 2008 pop who then met and fell in love with the opening visuals of a James Bond movie.

Hip-Hop | Bei Maejor ft. Waka Flocka Flame: Lights Down Low
Posted by ATexas on February 8, 2012
Because of this song this is the order of events that are going to happen: I am going to listen to Fell in Love on the Dancefloor by Bei (aka right below this) while I get ready and then I am going to find some G who drives a dope blacked out Range Rover. We are then going to roll down the windows, light up some Marlboro Reds (not condoning smoking at any other time, just in super betchy times) and then roll up to some dope party. I am then going to act really apathetic, but get super low and dance on my own in the middle of the dancefloor/basement. I am going to find the best dancer in there then challenge him because I am going to feel as badass as I can, which is not that badass, I’m blonde and stickly so…whatever. Bei is jumping from “Fell in Love” to teaming up with Waka Flocka Flame. Like what? I mean, I’m down, but…again, whatever. He’s versatile to say the least and super sexual apparently. Who has the keys to a Range? Let’s go!

Hip-Hop | Terence Ryan- Skeletons (Yeah Yeah Yeahs Remix)
Posted by ATexas on February 7, 2012
Does anyone remember Karen O? In all her super anti-hipster/super hipster glory? Well Terence Ryan decided to take Karen O and make a hip hop lovechild. I love this love child. With haunting lyrics and haunting beats its just here to take your soul…but in a totally good way. He discusses God, work and his strife for musical success. Let Karen and Terence transcend you in this amazing must download. Adding to the already amazing tune which the Yeah Yeah Yeahs perfected, Ryan adds a whole new chapter on this song.
Albums | Album Review and Remix Download: Lana Del Rey- Born To Die
Posted by ATexas on January 31, 2012
Do you know who the Queen of Betchiness is? I’m asphyxiating on how chic this woman is. Well, its Lana del Rey, whom I want to hate because I’m naturally cynical, but she’s the almond milk to my usually black iced coffee. I’m really over how into her EP I was and it was just of just 4 songs. My poor little rich asian neighbor is just as over it, unfortunately. I think my life is pretty dandy, but I’d give it up to of had her life. Only this Betch. A Connecticut boarding school grad (girl after my own heart) loving America, being super trendy in a 1995 way, having soulful music and being the perfect Ginger Harlet. There is a reason she debuted at number 2 today with her first album. Figure it out. “Diet Mountain Dew” “Blue Jeans” and “National Anthem” are tres magnifique to the point that I’m sick. BUY ON iTunes! Or be a wack. Whatever, your loss not mine.
ANYWAYS, so since you have to buy the album, FNT wanted to give you a free AH-Mazing Dubstep remix that will break your heart and make you want to rage at the same time. Perf. This remix by Gemini will do the trick and, yes, it has been out for a while so don’t throw a temper tantrum music buffs because I’m over people complaining about Lana. She’s my girl.

Hip-Hop | K’naan ft. Nelly Furtado-Is There Anybody Out There
Posted by ATexas on January 23, 2012
K’Naan is bomb. No songs about how low his chain is or how many biddies he porks, no, just some fulfilling lyrics mixed with huge names. Nelly Furtado throwing down on the chorus mixes with K’naan’s unique style of hip hop. His EP “More Beautiful than Silence” comes out tomorrow and Nelly’s first releases in 6 years is out this spring. Poppy and uplifting “Is There Anybody Out There” embodies both artists’ styles.

Girl Fire, Pop | Dev ft. Timbaland-Don’t Hurt
Posted by ATexas on January 18, 2012
This is Far-East-Movement-meets-Kreayshawn with a verse drop by Timbaland. Definitely the most unfinished sound Dev has released, but I can see it catching on to main stream charts. I didn’t like it the first (or second) time I heard it, but by the third time I was beep booping to the beat, like embarrassing hairbrush in front of the mirror beep booping.
Hip-Hop | Theophilus London – Last Night (LVRS Anthem)
Posted by ATexas on January 13, 2012
From his upcoming album Lover’s Holiday II: Rose Island here is rap meets trance meets dope. It started off as a club beat and then took a left turn at cuhlassic Theophilus. Seeing him at his show in the basement of a mediterranean food place in Boston was mucho deliciouso. It gave me the outlook that Theophilus is where he wants to be, its not mainstream and I don’t think he wants it to be. A very interesting listen and great to jam to. Two thumbs up!
