Pop, RnB | Somo- My Life (Mixtape)
Posted by A on September 11, 2012
Just a few weeks ago, I travelled to Allen, Texas to get in the studio with Joseph Somo and Cody Tarpley. Somo and team allowed us to get an early preview of “My Life” in its final stages. We knew from the onset that this project would be something special. I’ve said it before and I’m going to say it again: This is easily one of the strongest debut mixtapes I’ve ever listened to from an up-and-coming artist in all my blog years. There are many that come close, but this one takes the cake. It should be apparent by now that Joseph Somo is the real deal. Download the mixtape below, it’ll be the best decision that you make all week.

Electro-House | Clinton Sparks ft. Mike Posner- IDKurName
Posted by A on September 5, 2012
After the success Clinton Spark’s “Ambiguous” featuring Mike Posner and Big Sean, the dynamic duo team up once again to release, “IDKUR Name,” an anthem all too familiar after a long night of raging. Posner’s silky-smooth, “I don’t know your name, you don’t remember mine do you?” combined with Clinton’s powerful production details the inevitable amalgam of awkwardness that often unfolds the next morning when waking up from last night’s party. Stock up on Vitamin Water and Plan B, the video is coming soon.
Alternative, Videos | Adam Jensen – Lost Without You
Posted by A on September 4, 2012
“I forgot to be myself while you were busy being you.”
Rock music has its eccentrics, and it has its pop stars. As the genre has been pushed further and further out of the mainstream, it seems to have little room for authentic artists that split the difference. Boston based Adam Jensen, the self-proclaimed “poster child for the revival of the musician in the traditional sense” aims to fill that void under the tutelage of Buddy Allen Management.
Perhaps known best for elevating New England’s “Mission Hill” to a position of considerable notoriety, Adam Jensen has opened for the likes of Bon Jovi, Kid Rock, and more. In fact, Jensen recently performed his critically acclaimed “Lost Without You” single on Fox 17 in Nashville. Written by Adam Jensen, Rob Thomas, and Dave Harris, “Lost Without You” details the rise and fall of a relationship that’s palpable as it is powerful, leaving the listener wanting more.
Be sure to follow Adam Jensen on his journey as he continues to make waves in the blogosphere through his social media sites below.

Hip-Hop, Mixtapes | Lil Wayne – Dedication 4
Posted by A on September 3, 2012
I listened to the first four minutes of the mixtape and I heard no less than 30 lighter sparks. I kid you not. On a 1-10 scale of glad trash bags, this mixtape is straight trash. The only place this mixtape is going is to my trash bin. Side note: Who in the hell is purchasing trukfit? Perhaps the only redeeming quality of this entire project is that Lil Wayne’s weed carries recruited “Lil Mouse,” who’s a testament to an epidemic of poor parenting currently sweeping the nation, to be featured on the tape. It’s really over for Dwayne Carter. He’s well past his prime, and his contemporaries have surpassed him in creativity and style. It’s time for him to ride off into the sunset on his board with leopard jeggings on and peddle low-brow skateboarding and vodka brands they sell at CVS. Don’t forget to back slide heel flip to triple darkslide, brah.

Hip-Hop, Videos | 2 Chainz ft. Kanye West- Birthday Song
Posted by A on August 30, 2012
Look, I wasn’t a huge fan of dos cadenas’s “Based On A T.R.U. Story” album. It just didn’t do it for me. Pitchfork gave it a dismal review, and I tended to agree with them. It was really hit or miss. Perhaps the saving grace of the entire album is the Kanye West produced “Birthday Song” that’s exclusively about girls with big rear ends. Just when I thought the song couldn’t get any better, 2-Chainz goes and drops a video like this. There’s no way 2-Chainz had the wherewithal to think of this concept. It has Kanye West written all over it. 2-Chainz likely pitched a number of ideas to Kanye, and Kanye switched all the scenes up like he switched up Kim Kardashian’s closet. Kanye just has an eye for everything awesome and this video proves it. This could be the rap video of the year.
