What You Can Expect When Attending EDMBiz 2015
Posted by Juicebox on May 26, 2015
Within the last five years, dance music has experienced an incredible growth in popularity. Raves have evolved from illegal parties held at grungy warehouses, to massive spectacles featuring performers, fireworks, awe-inspiring stages, and hundreds of performing artists, while electronic artists have become superstars and celebrities, rather than backroom producers. Although electronic music has a lengthy past, the genre has never been in the limelight, and has never crossed over into the mainstream – until now. With electronic music sitting firmly in the spotlight, and plenty of media attention on the negative aspects of dance music, it’s become more and more important to open up a dialogue about how electronic music can positively impact society, and Insomniac is championing this movement with the EDMbiz Conference & Expo.
EDMbiz is a three day, four night conference held in the Cosmopolitan hotel in Las Vegas. The kick-off on Monday night not only signals the start of EDMbiz, but also indicates the beginning of EDC Week in Las Vegas. Much like its counterpart on the East Coast in Miami, Winter Music Conference, EDMbiz brings together some of the music industry’s best and brightest minds to critically think about, and discuss, current issues in electronic music.
The 4th annual EDMbiz Conference & Exp will take place from June 16th – 18th, and promises to be the biggest, and best, edition yet, as the conference looks to continue its unprecedented growth forward. With so many events and activities taking place in Las Vegas during EDMbiz, we’ve put together a list of what you can expect when attending EDMbiz 2015.
Badges and hotel packages to EDMbiz are still available, and you can purchase yours here.
1. Forward-thinking Panel Discussions and Keynote Speakers
While there are plenty of ancillary events going on in Las Vegas during EDMbiz, the onus of the conference lie in its panel discussions and keynote speakers. The conference features two days of progressive, innovative, insightful, and entertaining, panel speakers and keynote presentations by some of the industry’s top managers, artists, label heads, agents, promoters, amongst many others. Through these discussions and presentations, EDMbiz strives to bring together the entire dance music ecosystem to facilitate meaningful conversation regarding the most important topics of the business, including advertising, festivals, technology, branding, and much more.
In previous years, panels have been held by Hardwell and his team, discussing the Dutch titan’s rise to prominence and his path to success, as well as Th3rd Brain CEO and ZHU’s manager, Jake Udell, who spoke with some of the industry’s youngest power players about their own careers.
2. An Unparalleled Networking Opportunity
Networking plays a crucial role in shaping your success in the music industry, and EDMbiz offers one of the best, if not the best, networking opportunity in the world for electronic music. With EDMbiz, EDC Week, and EDC Las Vegas all taking place in the same city, the list of artists, industry executives, managers, label heads, and more that are in Las Vegas is endless, and everyone is there for the same reason.
Whether you’re an established executive looking to expand your network, or an industry hopeful looking for your first chance, EDMbiz is the perfect opportunity to find, and meet, the right person in the music industry.
3. A Chance to Meet and Listen to Your Favorite Artists
Whether you’re a fan attending the conference for fun, or an industry pundit, EDMbiz offers the opportunity to check out some of your favorite artists in a setting unlike any other. Each year, the conference features a panel of artists, coming together to talk about the current state of electronic music and offering their perspective on pertinent issues.
Outside of the conference, the roster of artists in Vegas reads like a “Who’s who” list of electronic music. Take a walk down the Strip, and there’s chance you’ll bump into Alesso or Martin Garrix. Check out a day club or nightclub, and you might see your favorite artists hanging out at a table.
4. Access to the Best Nightclubs in Las Vegas – for FREE!
While days at EDMbiz are spent at the conference, nights at the conference are spent at some of the best nightclubs in Las Vegas. Ask any industry executive, and they’ll tell you that they work hard during the day, and play hard at night time – and Insomniac and EDMbiz make sure of that. Badgeholders are granted expedited entry and free access to some of Las Vegas’ hottest nightclubs, including Marquee, Drai’s, and Hakkasan, and any Insomniac-hosted event taking place in Las Vegas.
Last year, The Crystal Method kicked off EDMbiz and EDC Week at Drai’s Nightclub with their 25th anniversary party, and the remainder of the week was filled with performances by Dada Life, Madeon, Dash Berlin, and more.
This year, Afrojack will kick off EDMbiz at the brand new Omnia nightclub, before passing on the baton to Alesso, who will close the conference at the Cosmopolitan’s Boulevard Pool on Thursday.
5. The Madness of EDC Week and EDC Las Vegas
While there are comparable conferences to EDMbiz like WMC and Amsterdam Dance Event, nothing quite compares to the madness of EDMbiz, EDC Week, and EDC Las Vegas all taking place in the same week. With over 100 artists on the EDC Las Vegas lineup alone, the entire Strip is buzzing with excitement as hundreds of thousands of electronic music fans flock to Sin City for a week of partying.
