Global Dance Festival Recap
Posted by GMONEY on August 18, 2011
The other weekend, Global Dance Festival continued its reign as one of the most epic festivals in Colorado. Thursday featured an eclectic mix of big names, from Kid Cudi’s greened-out stage setup to our very own Sam Adams, bringing in a ratio that could get Stephen Hawking laid. Empire of the Sun played a sick set with some very interesting costumes. Friday gave us the chance to interview Nero after an awe-inspiring set, dropping absolute bombs on the unprepared Red Rocks crowd (peep the FNT hats we got signed here)…and of course Skrillex’s got the audience going absolutely crazy….

Major Lazer provided us with an excellent demonstration of the art of daggering, and LMFAO closed out the night, helping the audience lose their faces with Patron-fueled party beats. Saturday brought a trio of Trance gods, Aude, Avicii, and Gareth Emery. Avicii, I swear, is like a little kid, singing along and pumping his fist as hard as anyone to the string of anthems he’s put out this year. Benny Benassi did justice to the closing of all closings, firing up a crowd coming off a 2-day hangover with hard-hitting electro. Not sure if he can speak a word of English, but damn, can he mix beats.
If you are in Colorado during Labor Day (Sept. 2-4) make sure to check out the Aspen Snowmass Jazz Festival: three days of partying with Girl Talk, Thievery Corporation, Michael Franti and Spearhead and many many more. For tickets and more information click here
